The American Council of Christian Churches

While supposedly existing to contend for the faith to counter the World Council of Churches, the very names involved in the ACCC would indicate the agenda is far different. There appears to be a collection of people politically motivated.

LONDON SITE OF FIRST CBBC INTERNATIONAL OVERSEAS MEETING

[CBBC >Council on Bible Believing Churches International]

The first overseas CBBCInternational officers meeting was held Monday, June 6, 1988 at the Carlton Club in London, England and on Tuesday, June 7, 1988 at the House of Parliament.

The meeting was well-attended and there was an eagerness on the part of the representatives to work together in establishing the international network of churches. It was decided to change the leadership from that of one president to one of co-chairmen. Selected to serve in this capacity were Dr. Donald McKnight, representing the US and Dr. Ian Paisley, M.P., representing Great Britain and Europe. Official representatives for each country represented were also appointed: Dr. Brian Green (England); Senator Ray Taylor (USA); Rev. Solomon Muthukya (Kenya); and Rev. G.M. Mbumba (Zambia). Dr. Ralph Colas will continue to serve as vice chairman. Other officers include Dr. Howard Carlson, secretary and Mr. William H. Worrilow, Jr., treasurer.

With an appointment of officers CBBCInternational is now in a position to organize on each continent. The By-Laws and Rules of Order along with the Doctrinal Statement were drawn up and approved as was as application form. Such steps are being taken very carefully as the officers seek to do things “decently and in order.”

Dr. Howard Carlson, veteran missionary and president of Presbyterian Missionary Union, visited the African fields just prior to the London meeting on behalf of CBBCInternational. His report was both forceful and encouraging. The interest from Africa has been tremendous as we have received inquiries from Kenya, Nigeria, Zaire, Zambia, and the Cameroon. Likewise we have also seen a great interest from India, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Jamaica.

Our trust is in the Lord. Please pray with us as we move ahead accepting each open door the Lord proves for the new Council.

CONVENTION THEME CALLS FOR THE RAISING OF A BIBLICAL STANDARD

“Raising a Biblical Standard” (based on Isaiah 59:19), will be the theme of the 47th annual convention of The American Council of Christian Churches. Dr. Robert Mayer, pastor of the church of the Open Door in Lebanon, Pennsylvania will host the meetings which will be held October 25-27, 1988. The convention is being sponsored by the Eastern Pennsylvania and Western Pennsylvania Regionals of the ACCC.

Speakers for the three day conference include: Rev. David Cassells, pastor of Jock Troup Memorial Church ( Glasgow, Scotland); Dr. Brian Green, vice president of the British Council of Churches (London, England); Rev. John Greer, pastor of the Free Presbyterian Church (Newtown, PA); Mr. Paul Gruendler, national chairman of the ACCC Laymen’s Commission (Olivette, MO); Dr. William Hopewell, former president of ABWE and missionary to South Africa; Dr. Bob Jones III,[CNP] president of Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC); Dr. Morris McDonald, missions coordinator of the Presbyterian Missionary Union (Nashville, TN); Dr. Donald McKnight, pastor of Evangelical Methodist Church (Dublin, MD) and vice president of the ACCC; Rev. Japheth Mwanthi, principal of Faith College of the Bible (Kenya, East Africa); Dr. Ian Paisley, M.P., moderator of the Free Presbyterian Church (Northern Ireland); Dr. Gilbert Stenhholm, professor emeritus, Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC); Dr. John Stormer, [CNP] I Chronicles 12:32 Ministry (Florissant, MO) and author of None Dare Call It Treason ; and Rev. Georgi Vins, director of International Representation (Elkhart, IN).

The speakers will be dealing with the needs to raise a standard in the areas of missions, Christian agencies, finances, education, and in the ministry as well as among the brethren. Special emphasis will be placed on the basis, results and necessity of raising a Biblical standard.

An update on the progress of the Council on Bible Believing Churches International will be given as well as a report on the recent meeting in London.

The Contender’s Award honoring a true man of God who has “earnestly contended for the faith” for many years will also be given during the Convention.

The ACCC 1988 Newsletter lists, and citing some of the names and organizations from it: Dr. Ian Paisley, Dr. John Stormer  [CNP], Bob Jones III [CNP], Rev. David Cassells, of Jock Troup Memorial Church (Glasgow, Scotland), Dr. Brian Green, "vice president of the British Council of Churches (London, England)" and many others as being involved in it’s administration and setting up the organization internationally at that time.

The above noted British Council of Churches changed in 1990 in favor of a new ecumenical group, Churches Together in Britain and Ireland which includes Roman Catholics and Evangelicals, and strives for ecumenical and inter-faith unity. >http://www.ctbi.org.uk/welcome.htm

Further the ACCC member, according to his website, The Rev Dr. Ian R.K. Paisley, MP, MEP, is Moderator of the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster, Minister of Martyrs' Memorial Free Presbyterian Church, Leader of the Ulster Democratic Unionist Party, MP for North Antrim at Westminster and MEP for Northern Ireland in Strasbourg.  50. He was a member of the Orange Lodge, which many view as being a Freemason. While many people deny the Orange Lodge is rooted in Freemasonry, research reveals the Orange Lodge and the Independent Orange Lodge to be very similar to identical in practices and ideas of various branches of Freemasonry.

"Ian Paisley was once a member of the Shankill Road Lodge of the Orange Order and a lodge chaplain, but he resigned from the Order when the County Grand Lodge refused to expel Sir Robin Kinahan for attending a funeral service in a Roman Catholic chapel." 51

Please See: Evangelical Truth for more on the Orange Societies. >http://www.nireland.com/evangelicaltruth/orange.html

Ian Paisley was denied access to the United States in 1981 because of his political ties and alleged message of violence,

"The U.S. State Department announced Dec. 21 that it had invalidated the visa held by the Rev. Ian Paisley...(He) had planned to make a speaking and fundraising tour in the U.S. in January 1982, but the State Department said in canceling the visa that Paisley's "presence in the United States is prejudicial to U.S. public interests."...Paisley said Dec. 21 that the U.S. action was a "denial of free speech." He "utterly repudiated" the contention that he had encouraged violence and claimed that the treatment he had received "contrasts sharply with the absolute freedom with which Irish-American supporters of the IRA come and go from this country without hindrance." (Facts on File, 1981)" 52

These facts make it all the more interesting to see Dr. Paisley connected to Bob Jones University with the endorsement reciprocated. “Dr. Ian Paisley European Institute of Protestant Studies (EIPS) is housed on the first floor of the Paisley Jubilee Complex of Martyrs' Memorial Free Presbyterian Church on the Ravenhill Road in Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom." http://www.ianpaisley.org/

“This magnificent Complex, which cost £1,300,000, was officially opened on November 15, 1997, by Mr Bob Jones IV, grandson of the late Rev Dr Bob Jones of Greenville, South Carolina, to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the faithful preaching of the Gospel by the Minister and Church Moderator, Rev Dr Ian RK Paisley, MP, MEP.” 53.

From, Ian Paisley's EIPS' ABOUT US “…Also, today was the opening ceremony of the Bob Jones Jr. Memorial Seminary and Evangelistic Center on the campus of BJU, Greenville, SC. Dr. Paisley was the special guest speaker and officially opened the building unveiling the cornerstone. You can see photos of that event in our Photo Gallery. “ http://www.ianpaisley.org/new.asp

BBC News reporter, Gary Duffy, profiles Ian Paisley, who represented Great Britain and Europe, as being one of Northern Ireland's leading politicians.

“He first attracted major public attention in 1963 when he organised a march in protest at the decision to lower the union flag at Belfast City Hall to mark the death of Pope John. In fact, fierce opposition to the Catholic Church combined with a determination to resist the cause of Irish nationalism have always been the cornerstone of Mr. Paisley's beliefs.” 49

Amazingly the ACCC held their first International Council on Bible Believing Churches (CBBC) overseas, meeting June 6, 1988 at the Carlton Club, London and June 7th, 1988 at the British House of Parliament!!!

What would a “fundamentalist Christian” group, reportedly combating the ecumenical movement, be doing in British Parliament with politicians and CNP members??

Jude 4

For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Council for National Policy, in alliance with other elite public policy planners and global mission organizations, is influencing the ministries of most Christian churches. At the same time, private foundations are supplying the monies to forward the cause of the CNP and that of other strategists, such as those involved in the National Prayer Movement.

The secretive Council for National Policy was founded in 1981 by Paul Weyrich, Howard Phillips, Gary North and Tim LaHaye as an evangelical CFR. The battle cry heard from their ranks is “Restore America’s Godly Roots!” and “Return to the Principles of the Founding Fathers!  The CNP is not, however, a singularly Christian organization. Rather, it is a mixture of well known and trusted Christian leaders fellowshipping with members who have worked for Sun Myung Moon of the Unification Church, CNP members who have taken money from Moon, members with links to Scientology, members who are known Masons, KKK, Nazis….

Perhaps knowing that the ecumenical movement started in England helps in understanding what is taking place.

Please note: According to one reader, Brian Green was not a member of the British Council of Churches as sited in the ACCC Newsletter. Rather,  Rev. Brian Green from Feltham in Middlesex, is co-founder of the “British Council of Protestant Christian Churches” with Rev. Ian Paisley

Update, July 26, 2003: According to correspondence regarding Paisley, "he apparently was inside just once in 1966 and not 1963." One can read more on that issue at  http://www.ltbs.org/magazine/vol005.08-09.pdf.

" ...you will see how and why and when he went to prison.  Non payment of fine was the offence and it was a matter of conscience - and as you will see he was protesting against ... ecumenicalism..."

In other correspondence regarding Paisley's claims, " ... I have just received a seating plan from the European parliament after much badgering - I was trying to confirm for myself a claim on Paisley's EIPS site which claimed that the seat no. "666" was vacant and suggesting it was more evidence of the "Harlot" as being involved with the European Union, in other words it was deliberately reserved for the one with the mark of the beast. Of course the seat is not vacant at all, nor is it even in a prominent position. It is in fact taken by an MEP called Beysen. So according to their claims they must be alleging that this figure is the "one." I am now going to check out their other wild claims about certain EU emblems supposedly representing the woman on the seven headed beast which again they fail to back up with simple inset photos..."

End Update

Update: Another reader wrote in June 2005:

Hello,

with regards to the article
http://www.seekgod.ca/identity.htm   "a little identity crisis"

Ian Paisley does not teach British-Israelism.  The Free Presbyterian church has many ethnic minority members and missionaries around the world in places such as the Caribean and Africa and indeed had an affiliated church wiped out by the Tsunami with some 800 members perishing in the disaster.  the Free Presbyterian Church has a website at
www.freepres.org which outlines their stance as being against the ecumenical movement and seperatist but not isolationist, being more than willing to fellowship with all gospel believing churches.

With regards to the Orange Lodges.  There are some cosmetic similarities with the Freemasons but there are no organisational ties.  The Masons are a quasi-religion not based on Chrisianity whilst the Orange Lodges are a Protestant fraternity based on scriptures although some churches frown on the semi-secrecy of the lodges although they have promises rather than oaths.
The orange lodges have a website at
www.orangenet.org or www.grandorange.org.uk .

ps you are correct in that Brian Green is co-founder of the British Council of Protestant Christian Churches and is a Baptist minister I believe.
