query re james trimm
Dear Phillip,
I hope you
remember our recent correspondence regarding Michael
Rood. I ... have discovered that he was 7th corps in the Way,
meaning he graduated Way "college" in
1979....
I am writing to
ask you about another matter that connects to
Michael a bit. And that is James Trimm. I am
wondering what you know about his degree and
education and his connection with the religious task
force, as well as his doctorate which has come under
fire recently. Do you know if he actually obtained a
bonafide doctorate? If so, from where?
Thanks for your
time.
Vic

Re: query re james trimm
Vic,
James does not
have a doctorate. He was given a honorary degree by
a chruch. It was something like the Apostokic
Catholic Church. James did not go to college. His
Hebrew and Aramaic are self taught. He told me he
had not been able to afford college. And he told me
when this church guy gave him the doctorate.

RE: query re james trimm
Dear Phillip, As I
was continuing my research yesterday, I came across
James Trimm's promotion of his July 2001
Nazarene.net/Yeshiva site and faculty list. In it he
lists Credentials and Letters of Recommendation.
Although the links are no longer valid, I am
wondering if you would make a quotable statement
concerning this and also what you said in the email
about his not having a doctorate, etc. Was James
merely being presumptuous in having your name and
letter of recommendation? If so, do you have a copy
of a letter that would have said anything similar to
a promotion and recommendation for him or his
Yeshiva? Or was James manufacturing the idea you
would promote him? Based on your statement that he
doesn't have a doctorate, nor college education,
etc., what is going on with this? I was surprised to
find this to say the least.

In connection with
this, I am wondering what you know about J Phillip
Arnold, of Reunion Institute. It's my understanding
that he not only has worked with James but had a
part in James obtaining the 'doctorate,' which is no
doctorate at all. In fact, in my research I see he
actually signed the diploma as the
"recommending advisor." That suggests he
is part of the Saint John Chrysostom Theological
Seminary: Catholic Apostolic Church of North
America. He is also promoted as a Doctor and as
holding a PH.d, which is how he signed James'
diploma.
I can find little
information on Reunion Institute nor J Phillip
Arnold.
Can you please
help me understand who these people are, their
relationship to each other and to you?
I realize that
this is asking a lot. I appreciate your time, but
feel this is important enough to pursue and
document.
Thank you for your
time in advance.

Re: query re james trimm
Vic,
I am stunned and
more than a little peeved at what you have just told
me. I have never given James a letter of
recommendation. He has never asked for one and I
could not give it if he did. I need the link for
this even if it is dead. I will give you an answer
to the statement on Trimm and his group when I have
a chance to view this material and have a chance to
talk with my boss.

RE: query re james trimm
Phillip, I had
trouble sending the last email with Gilner's letter
pasted in. So am going to send a couple of pics as
attachments...If they are too small--that is, unclear
by saving them this small, I can resend with a
better enhancement.. The one is Gilners letter, the
other is the transcript of James "classes"
with St. Johns.

Re: query re james trimm
Vic,
That list of
courses completed is bogus. James never took those
courses. He told told me De Cordova was giving him
an honorary doctorate. I was in fairly close contact
with James from '93 thru '95. He was working a job
and trying to get something going with James Tabor.
Tabor was promising to take James to the Middle East
to visit old monastaries to see if they could find
old manuscripts to prove James's theory that the New
Testament was written in Aramaic. He made a couple
of visits to Reunion to speak for Phil Arnold. There
was no course work. I remember James mentioning
Gilner on many occasions. I specifically remember
James taunting Gilner with Zech. 12:10, ... Trimm
called Gilner a conservative rabbi.
