Correspondence Regarding the B'ahai views of Promise Keepers:

Question: Are you familiar with Promise Keepers; would you attend; and would you find the phrase "Do you love Jesus and have you been born of the Spirit of Jesus Christ" offensive or contrary to your religious beliefs?

Answer

"And now regarding your questions about the Baha'i Faith. We regard Jesus as one of the Messengers of God. For a Baha'i to deny Jesus is the same as denying Baha'u'llah, Founder Prophet of the Baha'i Faith. We believe in all Messengers of God as coming from the same Entity, God. We call this Progressive Revelation. Each is invested with a particular social message for their time and teach a spiritual message such as the great law of love. Christ for example taught the Golden Rule as do all the other Messengers. If Christ claimed to be God this would be true in that he is God's representative and mouthpiece for the time period in which the knowledge he brought (the Word of God) is meant for. Each successive prophet brings more knowledge which suits the age they appear in. This topic and the other topics you mentioned are wonderfully covered in a book called the KITABI-I-QUAN or in English, "The Book of Certitude"...The topics you asked are deep and not simply answered...Did Christ return or are we still waiting. I will send a copy of Baha'u'llah's "Tablet to the Christians" as soon as possible. It makes pretty interesting reading. One thing I truly love about this faith is its emphasis on the individual's right to an unfettered search after truth also known as Investigation of Reality with the individual reaching their own conclusions based on their own critical analysis.

As for your question "Do you love Jesus and have you been born of the Spirit of Jesus Christ," no we would not be offended. We would answer with "We accept Baha'u'llah as the Messenger of God for this day and age and most certainly would not deny the Reality of His Holiness Jesus Christ. The fact that I accept Baha'u'llah as the Messenger of God is the criteria upon which one becomes a Baha'i. There are of course Spiritual and Social Laws which we are obliged to follow. This also means that we accept that there is a spiritual rebirth which agrees with what Jesus Christ also taught. In 1992 a book called the KITAB-I-AQDAS was released. We believe it to be a fulfillment of a prophecy found in Daniel in the THE BIBLE. The English translation is "The Most Holy Book".
