What does BDB stand for? Is that a concordance like Strong's and Thayers?

Very interesting articles being posted about the Star of David. I am familiar with Menorah Ministries in Glendale, Colorado. I know the guy who started it. He was going to the Messianic congregation where I was going, then all of a sudden, he was gone and he had started a ministry called Menorah Minitries.

Hi Linda,

It's Brown-Driver-Brigg's Hebrew Definitions, and yes, a concordance. It was recommended to me along with Thayers, as being better that Strong's. It does seem to give better/clearer definitions at times. You can get it from esword if you use that. I usually compare it with Strong's, before I post, to see which has a clearer definition.
Thanks Vic!

I use SwordSearcher Bible software...it has the Strongs...so that's what I've been using. I also use Quick Verse...I believe that it has Thayers and BDB...but I've never used it.

Hi Linda, Used to use a free version of Quick Verse that just had KJV. Wasn't familar with a lot of what was available although I did find and get Power Bible cd and used it for awhile. Still use it once in awhile because I had paid for some versions which require $ and a code key to unlock them. They were for when I compared some verses. A person fluent in Hebrew and Greek suggested Thayers and BDB.
I'm definitely NOT a Greek or Hebrew scholar...I need things SIMPLE and the KJV with Strong's links on my SwordSearcher is EASY to use. I very rarely use Quick Verse...somebody sent my husband a link (but he lost the link) and he downloaded it for free. He also has Power Bible (borrowed the CD from our pastor).

I do like the information on the Star of David that's been posted here...some good stuff there!
This topic on the star of David is how I found this forum and I have found it very informative. Reading During my search 10294 for the origin of the Star of David I also discovered something I did not know.

The emblem of the state of Israel has the Menorah rather than the star of David in it. I found that encouraging as hopefully there is no occultic origin in the emblem they are using. Its only sad they did not use that in their National Flag.

There is no other nation that I know of that uses the emblem of a Menorah is there? Immediately on seeing the Menorah it was a reminder of the building of the temple which God gave strict instructions for and the Covenant of God with the Children of Israel.

Do you have any articles on the emblem at all? 17517

Not that I can think of LifeSpring. Other than mentioning it a few times I believe, that it was the actual emblem, and also a God-given symbol.

The 7 branch menora is unique to Israel and is mentioned throughout the OT.

However, the kabbalists have take that symbol and made it quite mystic. I remember that during my days of Torah observance in the Messianic movement, the menora was considered to have hidden revelation and secrets regarding keeping Torah, the nation of Israel and Messianic associations all mixed up in gematria - which is kabbalah's numerology.

There is an interesting piece of artwork that I used to run across a lot, showing the 7 branch menora being carried away during the destruction of the Temple [will add a link when I find it Smile].

Also, "The Temple Institute" of Israel that has been working on plans for the third temple recently released or I should say, revealed the 7 branch menora made out of gold that will be used in the third temple [if it gets built]. They also have all the golden service artifacts that will be used in the altar area ready to go. They have also been collecting materials to build the temple as well. A couple of years ago - maybe 3 yrs? - a red heifer was born that was considered spotless. One is needed to sacrifice, as the ashes will be used to "cleanse" the temple when it's built. However, that heifer was rejected, I am thinking last year, because it started to show white hairs.

Scroll down on the link I have here to where it says "The Holy Vessels and Vestments Exhibit". Click on each item which will show you a picture of the items that are ready and waiting to be put in service.

As a side note, my purpose for sharing this information is just that, not because I am in agreement with what is being planned. My personal opinion is that if this temple is built, it is not one that God has ordained, and Messianics who believe that Jesus will reign from there and re-institute the sacrificial system are in deception.
