Is anyone going to see this movie? I've never seen The Da Vinci Code, nor have I read either of the books because I think they will be "hole saw in the side of my head" books (boring me out of my skull).

I just heard a review on the movie this morning. Sounds pretty pathetic to me. The plot is 4 priests up for Pope go missing and it's blamed on the illuminati. Violence, etc. Based on another book by Dan Brown, starring Tom Hanks in a repeat role GaahSnapoutofit

I had to shake my head at the concept - what a lack of imagination and a waste of time. Anything to get the public to shell out their money

The books were fun but the scholarship and the claims to truth were self indulgent nonsense. I wasn't in the least taken in by anything the man had to say so I feel free to enjoy them as mere fiction to the extent of my taste (or lack of it :D
The first movie ( Davinci Code) was a major bore so I don't think I'll go see it.
Although I think Angels and Demons was a much better book than The Davinci Code was.
Both books were entertaining enough when kept within context, as a work of fiction. What drew me to the first book was the cryptology and mystery aspect, and the second book was once again the mystery followed by the science; Brown did a very poor job with regard to the later, but alas it is a work of fiction.

I don't expect a SciFi book dealing with a space battle to maintain anything close to Newton's laws, or to correctly reflect an honest delta-v (change of velocity,) instead I keep it in context for its fictional entertainment value and leave the science, history, or theology in its proper place.

As for the movies, the first was semi-entertaining, (the book is always better,) and whenever the second movie appears on DVD, I will purchase it to simply complete the two-part series.
One of the most egregrious moments of poor science occurred wheb Langdon was left in a plane about to crash, He had no parachute, so he grabbed a tarpaulin and jumped, using that as a chute.

Nonsense, of course.

And I grew tired of Brown's constant harping on as to the distinction between science and religion, faith and reason.

Science done properly actually confirms the word of God where it pertains to the creation at least, and faith in God is the most rational thing a person can do. That men refuse to do so therefore makes men irrational and not faith nor the Word of God

Likewise Browns constant going on about the Catholic church as being the focus of all evil is simple bigotry
I haven't seen either film or read either book. My free time is limited and I'd like to claim I don't ever read or watch junk just for entertainment - but thatPopcorn'd be a lie. Brown's stuff irks me because of the phony claims of truth.

Maybe someday I'll watch it on TV.2020a

His stuff is just sensationalized junk that he dredges up and labels as "truth". I firmly believe the agenda is to get people to doubt God's Word and to doubt Christ. The seekers of this kind of garbage are never satisfied which is why more and more of these kinds of movies hit the silver screen. The name of the game is BIG BUCKSSmilies-34791
