Act 15:4 And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and [of] the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.
Act 15:5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command [them] to keep the law of Moses.
Act 15:6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
Act 15:7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men [and] brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
Act 15:8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as [he did] unto us;
Act 15:9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
Act 15:10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
Act 15:11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

I found this while looking up the verse that says to abstain from eating strangled things and blood (and presumably live animals), Acts 15:20. I was thinking of a sadistic "gourmet" dish called pressed duck, made by strangling a duck to preserve its blood, which will then become part of its sauce. Yuk

That's where gravy comes from - a blend of meat "juices" which includes blood.Icon_new_shocked I think Acts 20 is referring to the eating of raw meat - which I believe was a pagan practice at that time. There is no way all of the blood can be removed from the meat, so there has to be some discernment as to what is spoken of.

What do you think?

I've wondered about that too. When I was in the Worldwide Church of God (Armstrongism) I used to soak beef in water to get rid of all the blood I could. If I could afford it I'd buy only Kosher meat. I think there is always going to be a small amount of blood left in any meat, but since Jesus ate meat and fish I think it's okay to eat the infinitesimal amount of blood that invariably will be trapped in meat. Acts 20 may be referring to drinking blood in terms of the Pagan religious practice that still exists today, and to eating stuff like (ugh) black pudding, as well as to eating live animals, which is practiced today and is just plain cruel (Proverbs 12:10 A righteous [man] regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked [are] cruel).

I am not sure if sucking/licking the blood from your own body is a sin. If I slice my skin while cutting something, or drain a boil/zit, does the Bible say it's a sin to suck the blood out? Like if I am slicing meat and accidentally slice my hand, my first instinct is to bite down on the cut and I usually swallow the blood. Is consuming one's own blood for non-religious reasons a sin?

nah - I would say that it is the intent -blood used for pagan religious stuff is the intent, methinks. I know it sounds gross, but the reality is when you get a cut, you wanna suck 8823

many times the first-aide response for a snake bite is to suck and spit - just a trivial thot to thow in there

yes, I agree. this is what satanism does. I have heard that in masonry, in order to receive the 33 degree, you have to drink blood from a skull. I cannot even imagine such perversity.

This is simply a lie. I have met Orthodox Jewish Shriners, which means
they have passed above the highest level of Masonry and now have
become Shriners. You can bet they did not drink blood out of a skull.

My own father, who died when I was young, was a Shriner. I never
new until quite recently that means he was also a Mason, rose to
the top level, and was "promoted" to being a Shriner.

I only learned of all this recently when I had an Orthodox man at our
shabbas table a couple of months ago who was a Mason/Shriner, and
some how we got off on the subject.

Shriners do a lot of good charitable work, and trust me, if it was all
about satanism, Orthodox Jews wouldn't be involved in it. It is
basically a fraternal order for men to not only do good works, but
to use as business connections...I know that is why my father
originally joined...kinda like joining rotary or something.
This is a section of an article about Jews and Masonry-
Quote: Jews were actively involved in the beginnings of Freemasonry in
America. There is evidence they were among those who established
Masonry in seven of the original thirteen states: Rhode Island, New
York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Georgia, South Carolina, and Virginia.

A Jewish Mason, Moses Michael Hays, helped introduce the Masonic
Scottish Rite in America. Paul Revere served under him as Deputy Grand
Master. There were several other Jews who held the masonic titles in
the late 1700's: Solomon Bush in Pennsylvania, Joseph Myers in
Maryland and later in South Carolina, and Abraham Forst of
Philadelphia in Virginia in 1781. Another Jewish Grand Master was
Moses Seixas in Rhode Island from 1791 until 1800. There were many
other American Jewish Masons in early American history, including one
in George Washington's original Fredericksburg Lodge.

Jewish Masons played an important part in the American Revolution,
with 24 of them serving as officers in George Washington's army. In
addition, several helped finance the American cause, including Haym
Salomon, a Philadelphia Jewish Mason who with others contributed and
raised money for the American war effort and loaned money to
Jefferson, Madison, Lee, and others for their personal expenses.
Salomon was imprisoned by the British and died in his 40's bankrupt
and with penniless heirs.

There is evidence that Jews, including rabbis, continued to be
involved in the Masonic movement in the United States. There have been
at least 51 Jewish American Grand Masters. Today there are many Jews
active in Masonry in America and other countries. Israel has about 60
Masonic lodges with 3,000 members.

Masonry may do it--at the higher levels, of course--but Skull and Bones definitely does it during their initiation ritual. The blood may not be real (the skull is probably real), but I have never read/heard anything saying that it is fake.

Ozzy Osbourne used to work in a slaughterhouse and he would drink blood from the slaughtered cows and pigs:

Ozzy: ". . . I spent three years in a slaughterhouse, killing cows and pigs and all sorts of things. It got pretty bizarre...I was figuring out all these different ways to kill these animals. Have you ever drank blood?"
Oui: "Me? I faint if my steak is too rare. What kind of blood are you talking about?"
Ozzy: "Oh, ox blood, pig's blood. I have, and I gotta admit, the first time you do it, you get quite a weird feeling."
Oui: "What was the first time like?"
Ozzy: "Well, you kinda stick a knife in there and hold out your cup. After that I got into the habit and started drinking it rather frequently."
(Oui, March 1982, pp. 36, 56)

The weird feeling Ozzy got was probably some demonic spirit entering him, at least "awakening" in him because he was engaging in a Pagan/Satanic religious practice. Sign0137
After you become a Master Mason (reach the highest level of Masonry) you can become a Shriner- yes
those guys that run around in fezzes and put on circuses and donate millions of dollars to run hospitals
that give children free medical care.

They don't sound so perverse or satanic to me Smile

"A certain sect of the Pharisees" not all of them.

Meaning the Traditions of men, not the Torah.

"and from blood" means not eating animals that were not Kosher, the blood is drain out when an animal is killed in the Kosher manner. 23 "Only you shall not eat its blood; you are to pour it out on the ground like water. (Deu 15:23 NAS)

Yes it can they drain the blood and then you salt to pull the rest of the blood out and don't eat things cooked "rare or medium rare"
