Hi,
My name’s Fox and I’m reporting in as requested (salutes). I have a fairly chequered spiritual/religious background, the more salient points are having once been a Jehovah’s Witness and more recently, had tacit involvement with the Twelve Tribes (aka Commonwealth of Israel), a quasi-Messianic Judaist group that set up shop in my home town. Whereas my relationship with the Twelve Tribes is now somewhat strained, partly because they expected absolute and unquestioning obedience despite their scant knowledge of scripture and contrary teachings, they did reignite my interest in the scriptures and in trying to bring my life more in harmony with the NT teachings. That’s what brought me to the FLT “For the Love of Truth” site, one of the many stops in researching their beliefs. These days I have no affiliation with any religious organisation, but have a love of scripture and believe it to be the word of God.
I was attracted to the FLT because of the solid, almost manic amount of research contained therein, and because of the “Ancient Paths – My Testimony” section that I read and re-read yesterday, that apart from the names and places my own testimony would fit nicely over the top of this one.
My short term goal is likely one that the writer of the “Ancient Paths – My Testimony” would no doubt relate to; namely, to prove to myself that the JWs (like the HR) are not and were never the sole avenue through which Yahweh communicates his will to his people, and that I have not blasphemed against the spirit by leaving them, and that there is still a way back to God for me.
For the last few months I’ve worked very hard at cleaning my act up in order to try and present my body to God as a living sacrifice, that if I do maybe God will bless me and by means of his spirit show me that I’m okay with him and then show me what to do next. At the moment I have no communication with anyone else in regards to spiritual matters, only the scriptures, prayer, and the internet. As such these last few weeks have been like a roller coaster ride, almost euphoric one day, and then thinking about packing it in the next.

Welcome! stick with the scriptures and you won't go wrong. I guess you've read Romans - have you studied the book of John? Particularly look at John 3:16 - you are OK with Him.
Hi Fox 031 Welcome to the forum Smilies-30066

Thanx for introducing yourself Smiley-face-thumb

I appreciate all the kind words and the interest in FLT. Most of the research is a compilation of several writers, but thank you for noticing Biggrin

I seemed to have experienced a wide range of HR when I was in the movement and I am encouraged by the common ground we shared and coming out of it. If we can be of further help on both HR, we have many threads in the Hebrew Roots section found at this link - but would love to discuss and answer any questions you might have:

The way to God and "spirituality" is simply believing in Jesus Christ, that He is the Son of God come in the flesh, and that He died for you, for your sins. Following Him is not a difficult list of traditions and liturgies, but to simply to take up your cross and follow Him. It is not blasphemy to run from cults like JW - we are instructed to do so.

1Ti 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
1Ti 6:4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
1Ti 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
1Ti 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

The focus of HR and JW is the Law, in doing and not doing certain things to find favor with God. Jesus takes a "back seat". When a teaching, practice, tradition or way of religious understanding is more important than Jesus, red flags should be waving sky high 6839

God finds favor with us because we are in Christ not by keeping the doctrines and practices of man. By reading the Word and allowing the Holy Spirit to renew and transform our minds to be like Christ, and for Him to give us wisdom and knowledge in that reading, is how we know God and are changed to reflect His love, goodness, and glory. The fruit of the Spirit by our actions and lifestyle towards others is the plumb line for truth and a true loving relationship with God. That is true spirituality.Smiley-face-thumb

Php 1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
Php 1:10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;
Php 1:11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

Eph 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

Col 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
Col 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
Col 1:11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
Col 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Col 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Col 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Eph 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Eph 3:15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
Eph 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
Eph 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
Eph 3:18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
Eph 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Eph 3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Hi! My name is Tom. I like Michael Rood and am interested in the Hebrew calendar. I abide by the 9th commandment to the best of my ability. I like to study the Torah, shoot my guns, and carry my sidearm lawfully. I believe our Constitution is basically founded on the Constitution of the instructions which is the Torah.

hmmmm. I don't think you got around much on this forum just yet Biggrin Michael Rood is not real big deal in these here parts. You may want to do some reading about him. I think Vic has a whole huge series on him. He is just not a nice guy. But, hey - check it out for yourself:

You got me curious - what about the constitution makes you think it was based in Torah? Reaction
Hi Fox
welcome!
It is encouraging that you came out of two cults or cult type groups.Some doctrines can sound appealing and can end up ensnaring especially those who seriously try to please and be acceptable to God.
I have no doubt that God will and is blessing you if you sincerely seek truth.Sometimes though it's not an easy ride especially when we have spent time absorbing wrong doctrines and teachings.
I echo what Mary said about sticking to Scripture.
The Gospel is not hard to understand and the writings of Paul often address the same issues that people in the HR movement struggle with regarding the Law and such.
Hope your time here is edifying!
God bless!
