Hi,
My name’s Fox and I’m reporting in as requested (salutes). I have a fairly chequered spiritual/religious background, the more salient points are having once been a Jehovah’s Witness and more recently, had tacit involvement with the Twelve Tribes (aka Commonwealth of Israel), a quasi-Messianic Judaist group that set up shop in my home town. Whereas my relationship with the Twelve Tribes is now somewhat strained, partly because they expected absolute and unquestioning obedience despite their scant knowledge of scripture and contrary teachings, they did reignite my interest in the scriptures and in trying to bring my life more in harmony with the NT teachings. That’s what brought me to the FLT “For the Love of Truth” site, one of the many stops in researching their beliefs. These days I have no affiliation with any religious organisation, but have a love of scripture and believe it to be the word of God.
I was attracted to the FLT because of the solid, almost manic amount of research contained therein, and because of the “Ancient Paths – My Testimony” section that I read and re-read yesterday, that apart from the names and places my own testimony would fit nicely over the top of this one.
My short term goal is likely one that the writer of the “Ancient Paths – My Testimony” would no doubt relate to; namely, to prove to myself that the JWs (like the HR) are not and were never the sole avenue through which Yahweh communicates his will to his people, and that I have not blasphemed against the spirit by leaving them, and that there is still a way back to God for me.
For the last few months I’ve worked very hard at cleaning my act up in order to try and present my body to God as a living sacrifice, that if I do maybe God will bless me and by means of his spirit show me that I’m okay with him and then show me what to do next. At the moment I have no communication with anyone else in regards to spiritual matters, only the scriptures, prayer, and the internet. As such these last few weeks have been like a roller coaster ride, almost euphoric one day, and then thinking about packing it in the next.
