Have you been in the middle of re-editing a post and suddenly found yourself banned, for no apparent reason? Ban

The reason is that if you repost and re-edit several times in a row, there is spam protection in place, and it will view your edits as spam. That is why the auto ban takes place. If one of the admins is on--they usually lift the ban almost immediately. So if you happen to see someone is banned suddenly please send us a PM.

To avoid this auto banning, please use the Preview Post option which is right next to the Post button. You can re-edit as many times as necessary and not surpass the auto amount which will result in the program banning you.

You will notice you need to reopen the smiley window or copy/paste the code for them as it deactivates each time you preview post.

Please note that you have 25 minutes to complete any editing once you do post. But allow at least 2 minutes before trying to edit once you have posted, or you will get auto banned. If you do it too quick after the post it views it as an attempt to spam. Sign0176

As an aside, allow me to assure you that no one will be banned without having specific warnings--several, and then only as a last measure. Those warnings would come via PM and/or email-so rest assured no one will be banned without notice.

The only instance of an immediate banning would be for someone who posted to spam repeatedly or who blasphemed-and that was their entire purpose for posting. Banned

Well, I can definitely say that I've been "hit" by the "bot" ban! I found this thread AFTER the fact...so it was almost like a spiritual experience getting instantly banned when all I did was edit a post.

You've joined the ranks of the many who have had that happen. I suspect it is not unlike being unexpectedly bounced from a Paltalk room. :bouncy: 7004

It was a little different than getting bounced from a Paltalk room, but sort of the same. BTW, are you a Paltalk member? I know EMJE is...that's where I met her. I'm usually the one doing the bouncing in Paltalk...I admin in a few rooms but I like to use the red dot feature before I bounce. The rooms are Gospel music and Bible study rooms where I admin...so it only the gainsayers that get bounced...ones who don't like to follow room rules!

Where is your website email address located? I had my husband PM sheep wrecked last night and finally found Rose online and got her to lift the ban. I say....fire that "ban bot man"!

Yesterday I tried to post about the Ku Klux Klan using the names Yahweh and Yahshuah and I couldn't figure out where to post it, so I started to post it under "Cults" and tested it with the preview post function, but then I thought it might go better under "Hebrew Roots" so I deleted the post, switched to that category and tried to post it there and the board said it was spamming! Where did I go wrong? :what:

Hey LM,

It likely was because you did it too fast, one right after the other, or because of trying to post the same one twice--although I am not sure it would recognise that. :punch:

Next time try writing on notepad or similar and then pasting in when you know where you want it. And then do the preview post. It should eliminate the issue for you. Wave

If you go to the top of the forum, you will see the banner with all the SeekGod.ca website links. Just go to Contact and you need to assemble the email...but it is there. I don't think we can fire the "ban bot man", cause he works independentaly and seems to have a mind of his own when he bans with no actual threat. Sign0007

I was first on PT a few years ago, but haven't been on in some time. I don't recall if I was in any of your rooms, but may have been. I wasn't on very much.

I did find that the PT program messed up my computer--which could be what happens to your hubby's btw. :pcwhack: It would freeze or crash regularly but was fine after I unloaded PT. 17434

I was caught out by this on another MyBB board yesterday. Now I understand what went wrong.

Hi Anddra,

Not all MyBB boards may use it, as it is an add in option. But if the scenario was the same, they likely have it activated. It is kind of a pain though, to remember to do things a certain way, so you don't get banned.

I should restate, that if you get banned, go to the SeekGod.ca website and then to the Contact link to email me. I think when you get banned you lose all access to the forum. Maybe someone who has had that 'spiritual' experience here can tell us where they end up when they get auto banned? And can you access or see the forum at all when banned? Thinking2

You end up in cyber space when you get auto banned. You need to log out off the board in order to read posts. You do not have access to "Members" lists and you cannot send PMs. My husband had to send the PM and let the admins know I got "bot banned". The only way to find out who's online is to go and read the posts and check the little icon to the right of the names. The "Who's Online" at the bottom of the main page of the forum does not tell who is online...I guess because they are offline. Can't get online till you sign in...and when you try to sign in (if you are banned), you can't get in!
