As requested by Benny,

Quote:perhaps a thread for "What was the original covenant" could be started, but as an entry point into the prophecies aspect. I suggest this, since it is my opinion that it is a point of misunderstanding by many non-jews.

The 'old' covenant was (arguably) a collection of six covenants, all of which pointed to Christ. They were:

1. The Edenic covenant [Gen 1:28]
2. The Adamic covenant [Gen 3:15]
3. The Noahide covenant [Gen 9:1,11] (Note that baptism was implicit in this covenant [1 Peter 3:20-21])
4. The Abrahamic Covenant [Gen 12:2-3]
5. The Mosaic Covenant [Gen 24:8][Exo 6:7][Lev 26][Deut 28,29,30].
6. The Davidic covenant [2 Sam 7:16]
God started his cult with Abraham and his family. Ethnically, this includes Arabs and people of European descent (10 lost tribes). The sign of this covenant was circumcision and it was a blood covenant. It entailed belief, trust, and obeisance
There were no laws or commandments at that time except the 7 Noahide laws and God chose Shem, Noahs youngest son to establish his people. Almost all the countries in the middle east are semitic (Shem)
