Mark's post "Attending Church-The Body Of Christ" was pleasant and instructive. His church crisis gave the Lord to a way to gain his heart in many ways, and he in turn gained Christ both at home and on the net. His need was met by those who in like manner have found established churches to be lacking in many ways. The post allowed others to deal with truth and error accordingly, and to test the spirits as we are told in John's first letter. It is interesting to see certain posters or members in a clearer way when they reply to what no doubt registers with many. Mark got in this more than he lost in the other. If the post was not so long ago I might share my portion, for it is like many others. I restrained myself on reading about what constitutes the church as Christ's body; of its locality; of ministry.....I feel I am among my people and family, or distant kins. Where God's Word is honored then His Name and Person will certainly be exalted and His own helped.

Hi Mike,

Nice to see you posting. Just for the record, feel free to post your thoughts regardless how old the thread is. There is no deadline or timeline when something can be discussed. It often is nice to revisit topics, and related Scripture is always relevant to our lives. So if you feel inclined, please don't not post simply because you think the thread is old. People are reading the threads all the time, often for the first time, so it is good to add more insights. We never know what God has in mind for someone to share and who might be encouraged or blessed by how an individual might say something versus what someone else shares.

This thread was a really deep felt one for many members and readers. It is an ongoing issue and as was shared by many, it's a real struggle and search for where God wants each of us. It is always nice to meet other believers and 'family' in Christ. I think that is what we are to be about towards one another. Sharing the love of Christ with/for each other and that in turn shares Christ with those who do know Him. And this Scripture.

Ephesians 4:12-16 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13. Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14. That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15. But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16. From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

1Th 5:11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Thanks for the welcome and encouragement. I find that the church as God's present kingdom is just as the Lord described in the parables of the grain of mustard seed and hidden leaven. In reading of the various experiences in others journey in life in [/font]Christ or God, I found myself reflecting on my own. As a new believer I was with the Missionary Baptists (Landmarkism) and the IFCA (Fundamentalists) baptized by both. I preached Christ as many new believers do in joy of knowing Him Who knows all, filled with joy and thanks--saved! Others persuaded me to enter the ministry, by license and seminary, but that soon was exposed as insufficient in God's will for me. Withdrawal from seminary, rejecting license and ordination, denial of Baptist distinctives and uniqueness brought about excommunication. Several years were spent among other type of Baptists and visiting many other denominations and groups. Certain churches influenced and attracted me, I recall Plymouth Brethren, Local Church, Calvary Chapel, and others. But the main Christian influence that the Lord used outside the Scriptures were certain Christian leaders and scholars in their writings. Graves and Bogard among Baptists; Bullinger and Schofield and Darby among Dispensationalists; Edersheim and Ginsberg among Hebraists. In time, as with other Christians my world was enlarged. I did not find ability to enter formal membership from the initial rejection, and tried on several occasions to no lasting avail. I am not a Charismatic as some are called, though I fancy in Christ I too have some gifts and graces. My wife is altogether a Charismatic as well as some of my daughters. For their sake I abide with them in that circle, often as a visitor. The group at present claims some 3,000 members, of which I make no merit good or bad. I think of churches along the line of Paul's words that heresies must exists to manifest the approved, or least to test their metal.

Mt 13:31 Another parable put He forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Mt 13:32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof. Mt 13:33 Another parable spake He unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

1Co 11:19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
