The Blessing of the Sun
Someone brought "The Blessing of the Sun" to my attention, so I thought I would post a little information on it. It appears to be a Rabbinical practice that has found its way into Hebrew Roots:
Quote:APRIL 2, 2009, 11:54 P.M. ET Love the Earth? Bless the Sun Quote:The year 5769 (2008-2009) will be the little known Jewish year of “Birkhat HaHammah” the “blessing of the sun.” Every 28 years, the ancient rabbis demarked a time in the Jewish calendar that celebrates the ceremonial return of the sun to its original place in the cosmos during creation. Quote:Tradition holds that the sun was created at the spring equinox, the first hour of the night before the fourth day of Creation. Every 10,227 days – according to the Babylonian Talmud, tractate Berachot 59b – the sun returns to its position at Creation. As codified in the Shulchan Aruch and on the basis of intricate calculations reconciling the Jewish and Gregorian calendars, Birkat HaChammah, a prayer service marking this 28-year cycle, is conducted on a Wednesday in the month of Nissan, when the sun is about 90 degrees above the eastern horizon. Here is a Messianic teaching on it from FFOZ - First Fruits of Zion, headed by Boaz Michaels. FFOZ is known for their kabbalistic and Talmudic teachings as they are incorporated into the Hebrew Roots venue. Quote:A certain traditional Jewish ceremony has been in the news and blogs lately, known as Birkat HaChammah, or the Blessing of the Sun. This blessing is recited on an extraordinarily infrequent basis: only once every 28 years! The last time it was recited was 1981, which means that this is the year for the blessing to come around again. |

RE: The Blessing of the Sun
Bless the Sun actually has a website, promoting the Jewish tradition as well as noting how it melds with earth/envirnmental groups. They also have a list of events taking place across the United States, as well as Israel.
It was rather a surprise to see a few listings stating the following: Quote:...GEORGIA And > Quote:MARYLAND Time: April 8, 7:15am yoga and 8:30am prayer and study Many celebrations listed include a Fast for the Firstborn, and that aside from the talmud sourcing we see also listed from Israel: Quote:Place: Safed/Tzfat From that website, we read: Quote:Birkat HaChama Festival in SAFED, April 8-15, 2009 Likely many in HR and Messianics will embrace this Talmudic and Kabbalistic celebration as is found with FFOZ, and others. RE: The Blessing of the Sun
I contacted one Messianic Forum about this last week asking if they would get involved in this since it stemed from the Babylonian Talmud and read the reply today from the admin that he would be getting involved in it.

No big surprise there. HR considers doing all things Jewish to impress their "brother", Judah and/or to feel more Jewish and therefore; further away from their "western, gentile, christian paganism" and closer to the much desired "Hebraic mind set". |

RE: The Blessing of the Sun
I saw something mentioning this on the news yesterday or the day before. Even the name of it sounds like sun worship, especially with the references to the spring equinox. Lots of Neo-Pagans have sun-worship spring equinox celebrations around the time "Christians" celebrate Easter. When I was practicing Asatru, which is Norse Neo-Paganism, I went to a spring equinox Ostara ceremony where we "brought back the sun" by launching a model Viking ship into the ocean while facing the sunrise, and passing a drinking horn full of mead.

I read something on a forum about this being linked to the Equinox - something to do with "the vernal equinox according to the calculations of Shmuel" but he miscalculated the length of a year by 11 mins hence the reason that the dates now differ and this year the Equinox was on 20th March - so it looks like at one time they were celebrated at the same time. Baal worship. |

Hitler was inspired by Wagner's operas, which were based on Old Norse/Germanic mythology and religion--same false gods, slightly different names--and he was a member of the Thule Society, a German Brotherhood of Death secret society whose American counterpart is Skull and Bones. Hitler incorporated aspects of these as well as Theosophy and other black magickal practices into the occult religion of Nazism, which explains the Nazis' use of runic symbols and sun worship (the swastika is a sun symbol found in various cultures all over the world). As for myself, if there is a popular American Neo-Pagan, New Age, and/or occult practice you can name, I have probably participated in it! Divination, spells, runes, Yoga, spirit guides, totemism, Witchcraft, hallucinogenic drugs, clairaudience, precognition, guided imagery, astral travel, Higher Self worship, sun worship, Satanism, even blood rituals. I used to eat my own blood before I finally realized that Jesus telling humans to abstain from eating blood included human blood!

Thanx for all the info on hitler. It really bugs me when people claim he was christian. makes me shudder down to my toes ![]() Ok, I got one for ya - this is a challenge question Have you ever heard of or gotten into EVP - Electronic Voice Phenomena? I met a woman once who had DID [Disassociative Identity Disorder or is more commonly known as Multiple Personality Disorder] who started to get into that junk. She would go to graveyards to hear the dead speak. Apparently the idea was to record them, hence EVP. very creepy ![]() ps: what is clairaudience? not familiar with that one. |

I have an unfortunate fascination with EVP though I have never tried to manifest or record them. "Ghost hunters" use an occultic device called a subtle energy microphone to record spirit voices. They will walk through a haunted location telling disembodied spirits to speak to them, in other words, they summon demons. HOSTIS HVMANI GENERIS ![]() VISUALIZE WORLD WAR |
