Back in the day, when this was part of my practice as well, it amazes me that the lives of the disciples are all but swept under the rug - especially Paul. He recounts how much trouble, peril, and suffering he was in during his lifetime serving Christ, yet he never asked for protection, claimed the blood or placed a hedge. I don't think satan was laughing at him for all his trouble, because Paul gave God the glory for his suffering and counted it joy - which probably did not make the devil any too happy

2Co 6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
