RE: Shekinah
The hebrew word for glory is kabod wich means to be heavy or weighty(important)in greek it is Doxa., So God’s glory gives us a proper opinion who he is., providing a glimps of His beauty and radiance.
In psalm 19:1 we read:the heavens are telling the glory of God.
Read also Romans 1:20.

The glory of the Lord always existed….and was shown sometimes to Israel (Moses)and in the wilderness, in the cloud and pilar of fire.

Shekinah is a transliteration of a Hebrew word meaning “the one who dwells with us”
Shakan= to dwell
He dwels with us.
In exodus 25: 8 and 9 it sais:
Construct a tabernacle for me, that I may dwell(shakan) among them.
So the shekinah is the visseble manifastation/presence of God.
Christ is the shekina of God so to speak.
The word became flesh and dwelt (tabernacled) among us.
And we beheld His glory (shekinah of doxa)
Hebrews 1:3 the radiance of His glory.
1Cor. 2:8 and colossians 2:9 also speak of this.

For me the shekinah is God’s presence His light and His almight,
But I can only imagine how it will be to really see that.
The bible sais: we can t see God and live.
It must be overwhelming .

In revelation it sais:

Rev 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
Rev 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

I think that this light is His shekina or glory that shines.

p.s.

I would like to hear the explanation about shekinah in Judaism, it seems its feminine form and has a whole different role in the story.

Thanx, emje!Wave

It's interesting that you bring up shekinah in relation to Judaism, because shekinah originated in kabbalah. It denotes the feminine presence of God [the Holy Spirit is also feminine in kabbalah] 7108

shekinah is a made up Hebrew word and does not exist in Scripture. God never refers to Himself or to Jesus Christ as "shekinah".

"Presence of the Lord" is a phrase that is used 30 times in the OT. Every single time, the word for the presence is H6440 - paniym Sign0007

"The glory of the Lord" is used 34 times in the OT. Every single time, the word for glory is H3519 - kabod 443

I think we need to ditch the word "shekinah" and stick with THE WORD 6799

I am not keen on seeking the experience, regardless of the correct Hebrew word for it. I imagine that they are concerned about the word shekina because they seek the experience?

I wont seek it for the reason i wont seek miracles. If I seek miracles I wil get neither God nor miracles, and if and/when I seek God I am entirely dependent on what he chooses to give me

Yes, you got it - the experience of shekinah is bathed in etherealism. In charis, the shekinah is the glory cloud that many people see in a vision - often times in a place where the "spirit" is manifested. So in seeing this "glory cloud" they assume that God is present and "anointing" people with all kinds of sensational experiences. Most definitely, this is occulitish Sign0137

RE: Shekinah
i expect to see a temple rebuilt before Jesus returns. in that temple i think we will see something called the shekinah, as there will be one who does miracles and is the false messiah. the shekiah will be the false glory of God and many will be deceived by these things. what do you say?

Simchat,Wave

Have you taken a look at : allowing popups; making sure your cookies are enabled; making sure your javascript is up to date and enabled; make sure when you click on the [get more] that the window doesn't go behind any and all windows that are open-it can show as a second seekGod.ca discussion tab in the taskbar. After that, we might ask 4given how they were finally enabled, after doing all that and more. :pcwhack:

Hope that helps.

RE: Shekinah
What is the origin of "shekinah"? Does it originate from the Talmud? Or does it come from the Charismatic movement? I always thought of "shekinah" as the "glory" that shone from Moses' face (which the people could not look at) when he came down from Mount Sinai after he got the 10 commandments.

I think it's already happened - not the Temple part, not sure that will ever happen. But the "shekinah" as a false "miracle" is already part of the charismatic/pentecostal movement - which they acknowledge as the shekinah glory of God. Often signs and wonders appear - "glory clouds", smoke, gold dust, gold teeth, feathers, the shaking, vibrations, visions, dreams, appearance of angels and all sort of nonsense that is labeled a "move of the spirit" is most definitely a major deception and a huge part of this sensationalized experiential movement that is not even remotely close to anything of God. It is worth looking at where the word occurs in scripture...
Quote:Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode [H7931] thereon, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
Exodus 40:34-35 (KJV)

The word 'abode' is the relevant word here. Shekinah is derived from this word...

H7931
שׁכן
shâkan
shaw-kan'
A primitive root (apparently akin (by transmutation) to H7901 through the idea of lodging; compare H5531 and H7925); to reside or permanently stay (literally or figuratively): - abide, continue, (cause to, make to) dwell (-er), have habitation, inhabit, lay, place, (cause to) remain, rest, set (up).
