DAKE'S Annotated Reference Bible

This quote from Dake's Bible is the very first New Testament note in the sixth printing edition, Dec 1971:

Quote: "Gr. Christos, 'Anointed.' - Used in N.T. 577 times. Like the name "Jesus" it has no reference to deity, but to the humanity of the Son of God, who became the Christ or the "Anointed One" 30 years after He was born of Mary. God "made" Him both Lord and Christ. The Heb. Is 'Messiah'."

He became the Messiah? Arian heresy, for sure.

They dont like mystery, and the Trinity is the biggest mystery of all, so they water it down or deny it outright.

Funny how they will deny the mysteries of teh Godhead but likely accept the mysteries of creation, like quantum physics

I had neverheard of Dake. CAn't say i have any need to know more, really

His annotated Bible is quite popular in some Christian circles. I find lots of his quotes here and there.

Is there a word for idolatry of theologians?

I think there is. I believe for believers it's called being double minded, because Christ is not the focus of belief.

Much confusion could be avoided if we only used the words and the wording in the bible. If we need words which are not in the bible to express "our" thoughts [/font][/size][/b]perhaps it is because those ideas are not in the bible.

I most heartily agree that we need to rely on Scripture for truth and not man's ideas and concepts. So I am kind of curious as to why, on another thread, you quoted Watchman Nee - which shows that he is not expressing Biblical truth either?
