Hello, my name is Chris
I am a missionary. The Lord called me into full time ministry about 4 years ago and I have been traveling the United States and ministering to others and being ministered to, as the Lord leads me. I am now in Anacortes Washington and have been based here for about a year. I feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the strange and loose the yokes of oppression, both physically and spiritually, for those in need. It was the article about the remnant that drew me to this site. I hope to enter into relationship with others of the remnant here and grow together as one body.

I love you all,
Chris

Sure, I would be happy to explain. By the way, thanks for the warm welcome.

Shelter the strange in the physical, simply means to provide a warm dry place for someone to stay when they have need. Spiritually I reckon it can mean a lot of different things. The bottom line for me is, I want do whatever the Lord tells me to, that will help each person get their cups clean and get them so close to Jesus, that they can hear Him real good and He can direct all their paths. Jesus is the best shelter of all. As for loosing the yokes of oppression. Physically, sometimes the Lord has me feed someone. Sometimes the Lord has me give someone money. Basically meeting their physical needs as the Lord leads me. Sometimes ya have to feed them physically before you can feed them spiritually. Sometimes feeding them physically so shows them the love of Jesus, that it ends up feeding them spiritually too. As for the spiritual side of oppression. Well, sometimes deliverance is needed. Sometimes curses need to be broken. Obviously I can't even know what is oppressing someone spiritually unless the Holy Spirit reveals it to me. In general, I just try to listen to the Holy Spirit really carefully, trust that He knows what He's doing and then obey Him. When I do that, then I get a front row seat to watch Him do His amazing work in the lives of people, the way only He can.

I hope that makes sense. I guess I could have just said that I listen to the Lord and obey Him and then watch Him work, but I figured you were looking for a little better explanation than that. LOL

Love ya,
Chris

Thanx Chris - I sort of figured that's where you were headed, but I was hoping that maybe I was wrong. I used to be really heavily involved in the whole deliverance, hearing the voice, loosing the yokes, getting rid of curses, etc. movement. But that was years ago and since then, after really digging into God's Word, I found that it was pretty much not Biblical. I believed what I was taught, what I saw with my eyes, "heard" with my "spirit" and experienced personally so I can relate with your belief system.

Since I walked away from all that, I have discovered that God is much, much bigger than all those spectacular things that appear to be so Him, but are in fact an illusion and a deception. Please believe me, that I am not trying to put you down or what you believe. It's just that so many people are caught up into this stuff and have no Biblical foundation for it except a few verses taken out of context. I find it a joy to finally know the truth, and for that I thank God with all my heart. It is such simplicity to feed the poor, speak the Gospel in love, and listen to the hurting in the Name of Jesus without having to "perform" any more or hear a voice that tells me things that sound so like God, but are not. It is God who makes a difference in people's lives through His Word, not the physical manifestations.

All that said, I applaud your ministry to reach out to the hurting with the love of Christ. So few truly understand the need and push a few dollars towards these kinds of ministries. It takes a great deal of dedication and love for the unlovable and I am very thankful that God has blessed you with the ability to do so.

What I pray most of all, is that you find the truth, not the devices and doctrines of men and push the envelope so far out there that your ministry becomes the act or an agent of the Holy Spirit, instead of a servant of the Most High. In time, the "signs and anointings/giftings" will become the focus, not Jesus Christ Himself. I know, because I was once there myself and lived the true intent of those doctrines.

Though I understand your position, for me to deny that deliverance from oppression and sin are both real and biblical, would be for me to deny the very power of Christ during his time as a man and the power of Christ in me. After all, Jesus Himself healed he sick, declared the sins of many forgiven and cast out demons. I won't go any further with that because then I would need to start listing scriptures and I believe you are already familiar with the scriptures. My focus certainly isn't on miracles, signs or wonders. My focus is to Love Jesus well and to love others well. I believe that is the difference between what the Lord accomplishes through me, and what you perceive my ministry to be. I see every healing, every oppression lifted every miracle that Jesus did, as an act of love towards those that the Father gave Him. That is also the way I view His calling on my life.

In no way do I wish to degrade or criticize you about your beliefs. I do admit that it saddens me at times when people walk away from what God has equipped them so well to do, when there are so many people that still so desperately need freedom.

Whatever you believe, I love you just the same.
Chris

Smiley-greet013 Welcomewave Chris,

Glad you figured things out with your profile. Also glad you introduced yourself and jumped right into posting. 10164

God calls each of us into full time ministry, and I know that sounds a little strange because I know that you mean that is your only 'job'. And likely source of income. I think many people have terms like 'full time ministry' relegated to pastors and people such as yourself. But we are all supposed to be working full time for Christ in whatever capacity He has us. Some people have never actually considered they are to share Christ in their secular jobs---even though they are actually doing so. Grouphug5 Good or bad. Smiley-surround

One thing I do know is that God provides everything we need to do His will. So I am sure you have been much challenged and blessed in what you are doing. I believe God is a God of miracles, but I think what Sheep is getting at is the circus that has become part of the mantra for the issues mentioned.

Jesus makes each free, and fortunately it's not dependent on us, or what we do. Rather, it's us being obedient, but knowing it's the Holy Spirit that opens and gives the understanding and deliverance from the things that hold each captive in this world. Praise God, that we are all more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. And we become free indeed in Jesus.

I think having a love for the poor and needy is a gift in itself. Because it's an example of the very love of Christ shining through, and was the example He gave. Many do just toss a cheque or dollars but never intimately know the pain and suffering of those in such need. I pray God will continue to bless you and that many come to Christ, and that you will continue to grow in grace and understanding of His Word, as you share with each in your path.

May we each learn what it is to really love Christ and show that love to others. Icon_tea

Hello Vic,

Nice to meet you and thank you for your response to my emails. While I'm here I just wanted to clear up, what appears to be a misconception about who I am and what I believe.

Good or bad.

I do agree with you that God calls each of us to full time ministry, and no it really doesn't sound strange to me at all. Actually, I don't mean that it is my job and/or source of income, and I really did not mean it in a way as relegated to pastors and people such as myself. The Lord simply called me out of the secular workplace and told me to do full time mission work for Him. I am not on anyone's payroll, I don't get paid for ministering the gospel. I haven't been on anyone's payroll since the Lord called me out. The Lord called me to a walk of faith. Sometimes the Lord gives me money and resources through sources that I don't even know. Other times the Lord has me do a little temporary contract work and earn money. I don't really have an income. Most often the Lord has me spend most of what I receive on the needs of others. He has provided for me in many amazing ways in the past few years, and it has been an amazing adventure. I do not claim to be anyone special, nor do I hold to any title. I am God's servant. I am sold out to, and in love with Jesus. I don't belong to any of the 37,000 plus denominations, but I am a member of the body of Christ and I maintain constant fellowship with other believers, wherever the Lord leads me. I apologize for any misconceptions or misunderstandings about the way I presented myself. I was simply trying to introduce myself and say hello to everyone. LOL. I hope that all makes sense. In short, this is not about me, this is about Jesus.

I hope you have a blessed day in the Lord.

Love ya,
Chris

Chris,

It was not my intent to "pick on you". But out of love, and a true desire for you to look at what you are practicing according to God's Word Girl_butterfly

It is true that I am very familiar with all the texts you would give me to prove that what you are doing is God's will and even appears to be Him moving through you when it comes to the miraculous. The misconception is that I am automatically branded a cessationist and many "feel sorry" for me for "walking away with what God has equipped me to do". He has not equipped any of us to do the miraculous, to cast out demons, or to deliver people out of their "curses". And I think that is where we differ in our view of reaching out with the Gospel Pillowfight

I suppose we could argue all the day long over it, and I have Biggrin There are 1000s of posts all over the Christian forum world that contain many discussions on this topic. My intent is not to offend, but to share, so forgive me for being the "bull in the china shop" Sign0176

I really do apologize for coming on strongly Cry2 Often when one is caught up in deception of any kind, one is perhaps oversensitive when this particular topic comes up. The longer I am out of it, the more I see the fallacies of it and my heart's desire to show people the truth of God's Word. The problem is also showing the foundation and the factual evidence of the creation of these doctrines. Acceptance of them, especially when one hears the voice - is nearly impossible to convince a person that it is false. I have done many things that I thought was God because of the influence of the voice. So I present, and pray that God opens the eyes - only He can do that 9020

All that said - let me reiterate that I am thrilled that you are following Christ with all your heart and reaching out to the lost and unloved Smiley-bravo I know that it's hard work, but fulfilling to know that you are making a difference and that God is blessing you in such a tremendous way First

I don't want to downplay that with my position about the gifts. I understand that when one does not practice the gifts or worse yet ceases from them that there is an element of fear that they are "grieving the Holy Spirit". I have been told numerous times that I have blasphemed Him for my stance. My response is that God has blessed me a million times more and allowed me to be Jesus' hands and feet a kazillion more than I ever did under the influence of the "anointings and giftings". It is God that heals and delivers through His Word, not because we speak the Name of Jesus over someone. It is by His grace, not by our faith and practice, but by His will, and His will alone.

I have started a thread to discuss this topic. Please feel free to jump in HandStand

Hi Chris, I actually figured God provided for you in all manner of ways. I wasn't trying to imply otherwise. God fully provides for the tasks He calls us to, either through others or directly through jobs He provides for us. You didn't misrepresent yourself, and my comments were just musings of a general nature. You are like many on this forum, ie simply a servant of Jesus Christ, who belongs to the body of Christ, doing what He calls us to do. 8836 It is fully about Christ. Many who pass through here aren't denominationally connected either, for one reason or another. Some are searching for fellowship, and a place to just discuss things in a fairly calm environment. So regardless, glad you are walking by faith and found us here. And it is a good day to serve Christ! Icon_tea

It is God that heals and delivers through His Word, not because we speak the Name of Jesus over someone. It is by His grace, not by our faith and practice, but by His will, and His will alone.

I have started a thread to discuss this topic. Please feel free to jump in HandStand

Thank you for your clarification. I want to assure you that I took no offense, nor do I have any offense with you. I would like to say more, but I don't feel that the open forum is the place for it. Maybe after some prayer time I will PM you if that's ok with you. I really am not interested in arguing, dispute or sparring with anyone. I'm simply sharing in discussion with others here. Will some of the things we share here be controversial. I'm sure, as it is anywhere, but that doesn't mean that we can't disagree without conflict. In as much as it is up to me I desire to live in peace with my brothers and sisters.

Love ya,
Chris

Nice to meet you and thank you for your response to my emails. While I'm here I just wanted to clear up, what appears to be a misconception about who I am and what I believe.

Love ya,
Chris

Icon_tea

Thanks Vicki,

It is my pleasure to be here. I'm looking forward to many good discussions. Sharing and reasoning together as brothers and sisters is often how we learn and grow. I hope that you and all will believe me when I say, I have taken no offense from anyone here. I truly enjoy a good discussion, and it's even better when we disagree, because no two people are in the same place in their walk with the Lord at the same time. LOL

Love ya,
Chris
