Hi,
My name is Lois.I am currently in the state of Missouri,USA. I happened upon your site while doing some google searches. I have been seeking a deeper relationship with God. I have been seeking more knowledge and understanding of Him. I google and surf the web a lot to learn as much as I can..lately I feel like I just can't read and learn enough. I was doing a search for something and some how ended up on a Hebrew Roots/Sacred Name site.I almost believed them.My faith was shaken.I actually wondered if I have been believing in and praying to the wrong god. Thank the One True God it only took me and hour or so to come back to my senses. I really appreciated your site and all the hard work that has been put in to it. It has been a great blessing to me and I pray that you will be blessed right back. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.(2John 1:9) |

I'll post where I feel I can.I do not know the bible very well.I don't attend a church of any kind.I don't know which church I should go to..so I'm just waiting for God to shed some more of His Light on things for me.I do think I need some kind of fellowship with other believers but I'm trying to be careful.I feel very vulnerable.I'm not sure what I believe.I thought I knew what I believed but God has been showing me some truth.I do know I need to get a new bible.I didn't realize how much I was missing out on just reading from my NKJV

It can leave one feeling vulnerable as well if you are not grounded in the Word. So please take your time and ask questions and look to Christ and His Word first. Jesus said ask and it shall be given and James said, Jas 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. Jas 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. Jesus said He would never leave or forsake us, and that means even your/our struggles to find Truth in the Scriptures and what they mean, He will be with you. Php 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: 2Th 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 2Th 2:14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2Th 2:15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. 2Th 2:16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, 2Th 2:17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work. God wants us established in the faith and holding sound doctrine. Everything we believe should be able to stand the test of Scripture. And we have these and many more promises: 1Co 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 1Co 2:6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: 1Co 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 1Co 2:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 1Co 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1Co 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 1Co 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 1Co 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1Co 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 1Co 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. I am not sure what you mean by you are missing out just reading NKJV. I myself read KJV and while I feel it is the best English translation, I don't feel I am missing out on anything not getting into other translations, or reading massive amounts of books. Our understanding must come from studying God's Word and allowing the Holy Spirit to teach us and open our understanding. It's through use of God's Word that we learn to discern between good and evil, truth and error.[Hebrews 5:12-14] No amount of versions can do that for us. And of course there is huge controversy over modern versions source documents and translations. If you want to pursue that perhaps take a look at the Bible version thread or take a look at my Bible version comparison charts. http://www.seekgod.ca/topicbible.htm > http://www.seekgod.ca/chart.htm Be encouraged Lois and don't worry, God is with you and will lead into all the things you need to stand in His Truth, with full dependence on Christ. 1Co 1:3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. 1Co 1:4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; 1Co 1:5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; 1Co 1:6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: 1Co 1:7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: 1Co 1:8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Co 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Eph 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Eph 3:15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, Eph 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; Eph 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, Eph 3:18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; Eph 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Eph 3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. I think we all need fellowship, and many on the forum are not in a church, or are looking, and find fellowship through here really helpful. Col 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Col 1:11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Col 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Col 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: Col 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Col 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. Col 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; Col 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. Col 1:21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled Col 1:22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: Col 1:23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister; 2Pe 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 2Pe 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2Pe 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 2Pe 1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 2Pe 1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 2Pe 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2Pe 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. Vic SeekGod.ca 3John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. Wonderful verses Vic, a great reminder of the joy in our journey with Jesus. The above verse really stood out for me today. RE: Introducing Myself
Hi Lois and welcome!
I'm sorry that you have been going through hard times in your faith and are now having doubts. In trying to encourage you I'd like to add that doubt isn't necessarily bad in itself since to question is good and shows that you don't just accept things without giving the issues at hand deeper thought. Quote:I was doing a search for something and some how ended up on a I am not sure what you mean by wrong god since Hebrew Roots people usually refer to the same God as more mainstream christians.Nevertheless a lot of these hebrew roots sites and certainly sacred name sites do intend intentionally to cause confusion and doubt in the average christian so I'm not surprised it left you feeling very unsettled. Anyway I'm glad that you found Vic's site as her hebrew roots section addresses many of the issues that, no doubt you've come across, on many of those hebrew roots sites. As to what you mentioned on the NKJV, maybe you could elaborate further? I use a NKJV as my everyday Bible and KJV for online purposes. |

RE: Introducing Myself
Vic and Rose,
What I meant about the NKJ version is just that when I read some of the other translations of the scripture..I just seemed to get it more than I have reading my version..and as I'm writing this I think God is showing me the error in my thinking. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with what version I was reading and EVERYTHING to do with the Holy Spirit revealing Gods truth to me. I'm sorry Lord for putting my trust in a version and not in You. All glory and honor belong to You,Holy Father. I find it really very funny that God did not reveal that to me until just now..AFTER I had went out and bought a new version. I did..I ran right out and bought a KJV this afternoon. That lesson cost me $25. I've prayed and asked God to help me not be so impulsive. (11-17-2011 11:10 PM)Lois Wrote: Vic and Rose, Lois, God works in incredible ways. However, don't be put off for buying a KJV. It reads wonderfully and if you aren't sure of the saith's and such, just use a dictionary or compare it with your NKJV. It really isn't difficult to grasp the language. Or ask in the General discussion area-- http://www.seekgod.ca/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=25 I will allow you to start threads to ask questions about verses, although as a newbie you can't normally start threads until 50 posts. Do know though, that NKJV did not stick with the same manuscripts as KJV and it will read some verses differently. Rose might disagree but go with the KJV rendering first if there is a difference. The other newer versions use different manuscripts and there are a lot of differences. Will answer your pm as quick as I can. Am babysitting grandbaby today so might wait til a bit later. Have a great day.

RE: Introducing Myself
Vic,I've been enjoying reading my new KJV plus it has super giant print which is much easier on my eyes. There was a word I had never heard before, upbraid. I was scratching my head on that one.Besides you know I just realized the other day that my NKJV has some kind of symbol on it that I never even noticed before and it is of noticeable size to.I'm going to see if I can find it online to see what that is. It looks like maybe something Celtic?
I'm in no hurry, get back to me when you can. ![]() Have a great evening/day probably when you read this. lol I'm unemployed for now so I stay up late.
