Websters Dictionary and a few others are supposed to have the same meanings as what was meant when the KJV was translated, if that helps.

Upbraid
UPBRA'ID, v.t.

1. To charge with something wrong or disgraceful; to reproach; to cast in the teeth; followed by with or for, before the thing imputed; as, to upbraid a man for his folly or his intemperance.

Yet do not upbraid us with our distress.

He upbraided them with their unbelief. Mat 16.

[The use of to and of, after upbraid, as to upbraid a man of his gain by iniquity, to upbraid to a man his evil practices, has been long discontinued.]

2. To reproach; to chide.

I wanted to say something and I didn't know where I should post it.So I'm just going to put it in here.
I think the hardest thing about being online is that you can't see a person or hear the person speaking..
That leaves it up to the reader to interpret the emotion/intent of the typist.
I think that a person's emotion or intent can be seriously misconstrued.
So,if my posts have come across as harsh/hateful/mean that was not/is not my intent.

Lois,for what it's worth I don't see any harshness in your posts at all.
I for one am really enjoying reading what you have to say!

You are so right though, in that our words may sometimes be misconstrued since we cannot see the person behind the screen.
I also apologise if my words might have come across badly at any time.

I have been very encouraged and enjoy your posts. You have nothing to apologise for.

Being honest about how we feel about something isn't always easy to put into 'nicey nice' wordings. If that makes sense. Part of the problem is that the reader reads strictly through their lens, emotion and the way they feel about the issue or the poster via the actual person or their perceived beliefs. So you can actually have the best motive, best heart felt intent and it can be misconstrued to the point of you wondering why you even bothered. Especially when dealing with false doctrine or whatever.

I have an issue when I get focused on a topic of being very direct when trying to understand someones position, pinpoint error or false doctrine and many people are offended by directness. I am simply not the type to beat about the bush when dealing with Scriptural matters. Hence I can appear to some to be tough on people, when in fact, I am merely focused and wanting to be sure I am 'hearing' what is being said or implied concerning doctrine and Scriptural understanding. My heart intent is in most cases resting in Christ, but, the flesh does try to get in there at times. And I always feel bad about if that happens, because it's not what any Christian wants to have happen.

That's why in some cases where a person really hates me or my site, I generally try to step back and let others answer, so it does not appear I am retaliating, because that can be a false accusation if I have to deal not only on a personal level in discussion, but deal with the person as an admin.

The smileys were introduced as a way to try and help convey what attitude or feelings were behind what you are trying to say. Of course, they work as well as words in conveying something and are received with the same issues. Some like them, some think they are great, and some are seriously offended by their use, despite their common usage on most forums. But I think the ones offended in the past were for the most part, offended because of the refutations and merely used the smileys as a scapegoat and an attempt to redirect and omit further discussion on what was said.

I was thinking where a person could just talk about these types of things and I think you could actually go into the General Discussion section, which is just below THe Endtimes section. I think I will allow Newbies to start threads in that section as long is it is not used for doctrinal discussions which belong in the other sections of the board, that is, the Discussion boards and The Endtimes section. One caution would be in the Share a Favorite Scripture and What it Means to You----that must not be used to promote a huge doctrinal discussion but rather merely as a way to encourage others, for example.

Vic, I can see where you might become discouraged at times.You have to deal with people attacking you on a daily basis.
