The wisdom of this world is...........
1 Corinthians 3:19
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. 1 Corinthians 1:20-21 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. I often wonder why people think they are wiser than God. God has clearly told us His ways are not our ways. Yet everyday I see people trying to use their human reasoning to rationalize around the word of God, in order to fit their theological theories. There must be a new way, a new revelation, a hidden meaning, a special code......... We need this mindset, that mindset.. We need to seek the wisdom of the ages..we need to seek this book and that sign and this wonder ![]() --and my personal favorite, when english words dont really mean what they do mean.. "well all doesn't really mean all....none doesn't really mean none" People need to be still and know that He is God. If they sought the guidance of the Holy Spirit, they would find the truths they seek. Unfortunately the simplicity of the gospel I fear at times is just not enough show or mystery or drama for them and they always want more or different. A new, exciting angle must be created. This drowns out any truth the Holy Spirit may try to present to them. Its no wonder the Anti-Christ is going to draw a huge gathering at his fantastical signs and wonders show ![]() On the flipside of the coin - I think we must also be careful to never think we pridefully know more than others...or we have arrived..or we have it all figured out, because we are so smart. Pride and human logic can be big downfalls and more foolish wisdom to God. These thoughts came into my head today, so I thought I would share them. I hope everyone has a blessed day in the Lord Lindsay |

RE: The wisdom of this world is...........
Thank you very much for sharing those thoughts and Scriptures Lindsay. It is all so very true. I was reminded of this verse also
1Co 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. 1Co 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. Over the years I have learned there is so much more to learn, always, everyday. Even a verse we think we understand and have used with understanding in the past, can suddenly seem brand new and needing to be applied. It's so about Christ and dependence on Him and not our own wisdom or ideas. And the Holy Spirit will always give us the understanding and increase our understanding as we seek to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord. None of us have arrived that's for sure, and thankfully God is at work in our lives to help us run the race and remain faithful. 2Pe 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. Vic SeekGod.ca 3John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. |
