Do I love God?

I genuinely cannot tell. I am definitely afraid of Him. How does one know if they love God?

Oh you do ask the tough questions LM.

I think the biggest proof of loving God is believing Him, in His written word, and most importantly believing Him about Christ. If you believe Christ you believe the Father. If you belong to Christ you belong to the Father. And I do believe you believe that and more. It's good to have a reverence and fear of God---always keeping in mind that He is Almighty God, creator of everything, eternal, etc. But we are like children to HIm and He as a Father to us, so we need to see ourselves in that role also. And in the end those who believe Him and love Him, will spend eternity with Him. He loves us beyond anything we can even begin to comprehend.

Jesus said:

You cannot imagine how I needed those verses. As I have come to expect, there were some verses that were on my mind but I could not recall the context. E.g. 1Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

I was thinking of "perfect love casteth out fear" because I was thinking of "God hath not given us a spirit of fear..." There are a couple of other ones as well. I shall write more when I can get my words organized.

Another hammer-to-the-face verse was Rev 3:19: As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

That reminded me of God severing the suicide chain around my neck:

Psa 118:18 The LORD hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death.

I may post that verse and Psalm 118:17 in the suicide thread because God wouldn't give me over to suicide.

I think I would have loved Jesus had I been around during His time on earth. He was a perfect Gentleman with women and especially little kids. I would gladly die for my faith in God, since He died for undeserving, ungrateful me. In fact, I hope to die for my faith in God.

God is definitely working through things in your life. Don't worry about when you might die....Think about all the things God may want you to do to live for HIm. One thing is sure, we must all be willing to give our lives for Christ, but whatever He happens, He will never leave or forsake us.
