Psalm 1:1-3

So many Scriptures have meant so many things at different times it's difficult to have just one favorite but I love the Psalms and Psalm 1 has been very special at times for encouragement.

(Psa 1:1) Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

(Psa 1:2) But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

(Psa 1:3) And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

1 cor 13:11 "When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child,I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up childish ways"

For many years I was driven by resentment, anger, and denial; and always blamed others for what was happening to me. It wasn't until the Lord slapped me on the back of my not then bald head with this verse; that I started to realize how grossly immature I was behaving....and how no progress would be made until I accepted my own guilt...until I "manned up" if you will...to my own actions...and asked forgiveness for them... only then was I able to start growing in the Spirit.

I Praise God and thank Him for His Infinite Patience with me.

Dan thank you so much for sharing this. I can relate to resentment and anger, and if I think about it, also denial at times. When God takes hold of us, sometimes it can feel pretty harsh and other times its like opening a curtain to understanding. Either way, praise God that He loves us in spite of ourselves. And yes, Praise Him for His Infinite patience and wisdom in knowing us better than we know ourselves and knowing exactly what we need to grow and have the victory in Christ.

One of my very most favorite passages is Exodus 3:14: And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
I don't know why I like this verse. I AM THAT I AM is such a bold statement from God, and an instant classic in my eyes. I'm not sure what it means but I'm guessing that God is telling the children of Israel that he is who he is whether they like it or not. Whatever this means, it's still one of my favorites.
