Chrys here
To introduce myself and tell you a bit about me.
I live in a tiny welsh village near the market town of Pontypridd (the two dd's are prounounced 'th' as Pontypreeth) in South Wales UK. I am 61 years of age and married with a 31 year old daughter and a 32 year old son. I came to the UK in 1970 to train as a nurse and worked in the National Health Service as a registered nurse and midwife for 30 years, now retired. I was born in Dunedin New Zealand in 1947 and was christened as a baby at St Michael's and All Angels, Church of England. I was confirmed at the age of 13 at the same church and attended weekly bible study and church services until 20 years of age when I came to the UK. I have been a church attendee from 1970 in Wales until a couple of years ago when I started questioning whether I was in a truly 'Christian' Church. I did not agree with the way things were going what with gay vicars, ecumenicism and the politics of the Church Synod. C of E mainly use the Book of Common Prayer for worship and nowdays very rarely refer to the the Bible and some vicars even say there is no hell. The former Archbishop Lord Carey in the Telegraph - The article talks about terrorists but amongst other things he said: "Creationism is the fruit of a fundamentalist approach to scripture, ignoring scholarship and critical learning, and confusing different understandings of truth." The full article is here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopi...gions.html It makes me wonder which god he is worshipping ! I want to find a church that is bible-led, very simple, meaning no incense, vestements, rituals and add-ons. I want to do voluntary community work with people who need practical and spiritual help as I am retired but still full of energy and want to serve the Lord until he comes for me, dead or alive. Only recently I started looking into other christian denominations and have visited many churches and chapels. I also became interested in exploring the jewish festivals and sabbaths after I went to Israel last year on holiday. I was researching this on the internet and the Seekgod.ca website came up and after reading some articles I decided to join as there was so many interesting articles and lively discussions by christian believers and I felt I could gain a lot of knowledge by joining this group. I know I have been posting a lot but I have enjoyed to joining in, I hope my views about the C of E don't upset anyone as I am usually quite a shy person and always like to show respect for others and their opinions. RE: Chrys here
Ceebee aka ChrysNice to have you share and join our group ![]() You have no need of apologizing for anything re posting or even your observations concerning the Anglican Church. If you do a search on my website using --anglican-- you will find some articles which discuss it and some of the very observations you have made. It is no secret that it and many many more churches are liberal, gnostic, or new age and not abiding the Word of God. Many in fact are teaching another gospel and another Jesus. ![]() I am glad you started seeking with the truth of the Scriptures as the standard. If going by what others say worldwide, it is not easy finding a solid church anymore. God promises His wisdom in these things, so I know you will not be left adrift. ![]() I believe God takes us where we need to be, and I'm glad you joined us here. ![]() As you can see, aside from trying to abide the Scripture as the standard and pointing to Christ, we enjoy the fellowship and the chance to discuss the things of God. The admins in general also have a Huge sense of humor--so we hope you are not offended if we bug you now and again. ![]() And we use the smileys to lighten the impact, try to show how we mean what we are saying or just lighten the mood of the forum. As you have seen by my website, I take living for Christ very seriously. I am glad you are seeking to do that as well. It helps to hone our understanding and use of the Word by being able to discuss issues and use the Word of God in learning and defending the Truth of Christ. ![]() Glad to get to know you.
Vic SeekGod.ca 3John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. |

RE: Chrys here
Cebee, again thanks for telling us even more about you.
I checked out the link to the article you gave and I was horrified at what that man was saying. He praises Charles Darwin, , as "one of the greatest human beings of all time".Eeek!!! I can really identify with what you wrote here Quote:I want to find a church that is bible-led, very simple, meaning no incense, vestements, rituals and add-ons. I want to do voluntary community work with people who need practical and spiritual help as I am retired but still full of energy and want to serve the Lord until he comes for me, dead or alive. Many of us on this forum are in the same boat. Me personally I am in no rush to find one. Thanks to the internet I can get together with believers if need be to study or worship together. As I said in another post and you yourself have said, find ways to help people on a practical and spiritual level. There are many many types of ways where we can minister to others ,as Jesus said Luk 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray you therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest. There are many sites out there now with a messianic bent that seek to place believers under the Sinai laws all 613+ not just the ten. What this does is it turns our focus onto things which God nailed to the Cross in order to make one new man. It leads us to focus on how best to observe these ritualistic commandments and detracts from our real mission which is to spread the good news. Time that would be better spent learning how to defend our faith to all sorts of people.People get drawn into spending money on books which supposedly show deeper knowledge into these feasts and Messiah. My advice is to spend your time or money instead on learning and which help us to give a defense of the Bible to aethists,or whatever groups of people God lays on your heart.Even so books, websites and pastors are no substitute for the bible and Holy Spirit. It is great that you have been posting a lot and I for one am not offended by what you said about the Cof E since I had similar gripes with the RCC. I am sure youre not the only one who has had the same doubts and have chosen to leave. What is worrying is that there aren’t more people leaving those churches in droves. Anyway enough of my rambling.Looking forward to more of your posts Ceebee.

RE: Chrys here
Thanks very much Vic and Rose for the warm welcome and kind advice.
![]() I am glad I found seekgod and hope to make it my home. I don't think I will be able to find a group that I can join other than on the net. In my village out of 5 churches 3 are closed, only the Salvation Army Hall and The Jehova's Witnesses are left. Yes the smileys look great fun and I must try them out ! Bless you both

RE: Chrys here
Hi, Chrys!
![]() It's great to have you join us ![]() As you can see - we are a lively bunch So glad to see all your posts so far - we love lots of discussion! To reiterate what Vic and Rose said, we don't mind the "gripes" with false religious systems - sometimes you just have to vent, and then realize that this is how Jesus said it was gonna go down We have to buck up, get in the Word and trust God to give us wisdom and clarity through His Spirit as He promised ![]() Looking forward to sharing God's Word with you and some good study! :hands:
