What Resources are there to help study the Bible?

I used E-Sword for a couple years until I discovered an improved alternative.

E-Sword is very dated in its code even though the author has rewritten it. It still looks and runs like a windoze98 program. The only real difference is not in function but in security. It has the added security to allow companies to sell locked copyright content on it. More and more of its' content is now become commercialized. You decide if that is for you.

The new program I use is called "The Word" and is a modern design which even runs on Linux. and is faster than E-Sword on even my netbook.

I as able to import my e-sword modules using a free third-party program.

the author is also constantly working on updates and is very responsive to feedback regarding the program. I have had numerous interaction with him whereby he has corrected bugs which I found (within a week) and even added new features which I suggested (sometimes within the hour).

TheWord is Skinable and the windows panes for different books are moveable. you can save multiple layouts for different types of study and switch between them.

the Program itself, installs in as little as 20MB. And only increases as you add modules. Mine is at 1GB. Try that with a commercial Bible program which installs EVERYTHING by default and you can get by with nothing under 2.5GB.

the Word will also run portable off of a USB flash drive. And copying your setup to other computers is as simple as coping the directory.

I have it on 5 different computers and everyone gets the same material.

Thats fine Sheep. If you ever need something with a bit more bit for a newer computer, try it out.
