RE: Scofield Reference Bible & Cyrus I Scofield
"Was he claiming to be a Christian when he forged and defrauded and went to jail?"
I don't know. You may have me here. You've got the goods on Scofield, for sure. Betcha ears are burning with the whispers. I wasn't there. It's possible he was claiming, it's possible he was not. Like Billy Sunday's sins, I wasn't there and I don't know if anyone has ever lied ever in court records. Neither, my friends, were you there. Whatever, ya'll have made a good case for some folks to go get the Old Scofield study Bible, even if to prove/disprove your accusations that he added to scripture - which he never claims, or did. The Old ScofieldRG Study Bible, KJV, Standard Edition (Bible Akjv) from 14.81 at amazoncom "[i]You have just proven that you do not go by the Word of God, but instead Scofield's opinion." I try not to use proof texts out of context which become pretext. Scofield is a reference I use. And Ironside, Spurgeon, Larkin, Moody, Williams, Walvoord, Berry, etc. I check out what my pastor preaches, listen to several others on recorded media. I even read a blog or two. And yes, I use the majority text to read and study. But in English. |
