How do you explain the Holocaust and pogroms?

This is another subject about which I have wondered for years. Atheists will use the evil of the Holocaust and the pogroms to say that God either dosn't exist or is ineffectual. I know that God has a reason for everything, but why did He allow a pack of Satan-worshipping occultists to kill millions of people including six million Jews? I don't mean to be blasphemous by asking. I want to know what to say if an unbeliever asks this.

satan is the god of this world and the prince or ruler of the air, in other words, the world is under the curse of sin. satan has been given reign to occupy until Jesus returns. In light of that, there will be atrocities until He comes back.

The Jews were not the only ones to suffer such a "holocaust". Millions of christians were killed during the days of Nero. Other people groups have been prejudiced against and murdered without cause, like African Americans.

A little know historical fact - the slaves taken from Africa by England were packed by the thousands in ships in closed quarters for weeks. Most of them died in transit. This continued for many many years.

Oppression of people groups is nothing new, and will continue to be a pawn in hands of satan for his own devices and plans. It's not that God does not care, it is simply the way it is. Jesus said, in this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer - I have overcome the world. May Jesus return quickly.
