RE: Avi ben Mordechai of Millennium 7000
It is all so very simple. the moral law no one keeps. jew or non jew. the sacrifical law was a type of the sacrifice to come. now that it is finished no more sacrifices are needed. the health laws and cultural laws were pushed too far and jesus reined it in when he announced that all foods were clean. some of the clothing laws etc a metaphors for holiness, but we should have the real thing and thus have no need for the image or the type.
as to accusing us of lawlessness, well that is the fallacy of equating legalism with lawfullness, whereby non legalism is falsely seen to be lawlessness, when in fact it is the other way round: legalism is lawLESSness dressed up in piety, lawlessness in drag. I should know this, being a powerful legalist myself, and still undergoing conviction of sin and repentance whereby i can repent of my righteousness, which is filthy rags, an ongoing process as no jews keeps the part of the law that was never adjusted, really or even apparently, in anyway due to the cross etc, his efforts will do him no good. his efforts never constituted obedience to the LAw, for the law said love you neighbour, the law did not say bottle up your contempt for your neighbour and put on a brave face while trying to do good for him. this latter is all "lawkeeping" ever amounted to. they never understood that grace does not abrogate law, it affirms it, as St Paul said. but grace does abrogate carnal struggle, which only ever makes hypocrites of us all. it is because our struggle to be good is hypocrisy that means it never even comes close to producing or even acknowledging the true requirement of the law of course the ingrained selfrighteousness of a man who is a legalist (myself a case in point) just will not give it up, mostly out of pride. so i can be understood why intelligent men fell for this. pride, self righteousness, all the reasons i fell for my own form of legalism You appear to have done away with our creators laws and statutes, the book of life with clear instructions for all man. stref yes indeed, clear instructions, like "BE PERFECT". that we are sinners, all of us, makes this not a manifesto for life but a death sentence. What did Paul say in scripture? it was a ministry of condemnation . no life there, for the letter kills, but the realization that we are dead in sins as either unbelievers or backsliders should give up pause to seek the Holy Spirit of Christ. no commandment is denied in any of those, but the acknowledgement that no commandment was ever kept by our efforts is part and parcel of this. giving up a futile attempt to pretend to obey God does not ever deny we should, it simply faces reality as we appraoch him as helpless children for we have nothing else to offer |
