Nudnik is kind of an insulting term, so I am surprised that it is used. Actually the whole sentence is kind of belittling....is that really what it says? I'll have to go look it up.... Okay, I just went and looked it up in various translations. I must say the CJB translation is terrible...the others were worded much more kindly. Nudnik? :( |

Luk 18:5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. The CJB does not hardly render an accurate reading, but Stern is not known for "steller" "translating" abilities

I was going to say, that by his pseudo translating of the Greek especially - it's obvious that he can't ![]() If memory serves me right, his Hebrew text follows the King James Version, again, with his own "Hebrew" plunked in to give in an air of "authority"

RE: David Sterns Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
The CJB is the “version” used at "The Harvest" (graftedin.com web site) that pushes the "renewed covenant" and other false doctrines.
From their internet home page: "The Harvest, Kehilat T'nuvah - The Harvest is a Messianic Charismatic congregation for Jews and Gentiles. We are located in Thornton, CO, just north of Denver. Here is their reference to the CJB from one of their online teaching pdfs: "Torah Observant It is interesting to compare the Hebrew Roots/Messianic Movement to other false religions of years gone by! For example, Joseph Smith (founder of the Mormons) asked the "angel" what Church denomination he should join. He was told that all of them were wrong! The Church was supposedly in error going way back to its pre-Nicea days! Smith was instead to restore Christianity to its early Latter Day Saints "roots." “ MITZVOT” A Series on Practical Messianic Living and Apologetics (halakhah) By Torah Teacher Ariel ben-Lyman HaNaviy Towards Understanding Sacrifices and Atonement (Note: all quotations are taken from the Complete Jewish Bible, translation by David H. Stern, Jewish New Testament Publications, Inc., unless otherwise noted)"Besides "translating" the "Mormon Scriptures" using those special "Angel Moroni glasses" into very good KJV English, Smith also produced his own version of the Bible. Last time I checked, the LDS makes use Smith's Bible update but they have not elevated it to Book of Mormon status. The LDS, for the most part, still uses the KJV. The advantage of utilizing the common English translation (KJV) for the Mormons is that they can try to "prove" their false doctrines without getting dragged into an "off message" debate about the Joseph Smith version. This lesson seems to have escaped many in the Hebrew Roots/Messianic Movement. This is good for us, as previous posts in this thread clearly demonstrate the Mickey-Mouse like qualities of the CJB. The Hebrew Roots/Messianic movement focus seems to be, first of all, trying to capture Christians and carry them away into their falsehood (they want to "fix" us Christians!) and only secondarily going after the un Churched. Hopefully, Church people are reading their Bibles and will not be easily "tossed to and fro" by every "wind of doctrine." By using these bogus translations, hopefully it will be a red flag and cause the unware to "trust, but verify" and become Bereans. The Jehovah Witness "translation" comes to mind and it reminds of the "CJB" ''translation." The Hebrew Roots/Messianic movement has two of the major marks of a false religion/cult going for it: (1) They claim everybody in Christianity has been wrong since the mid 2nd century AD (just like the Mormons!) and they have thus come along to "fix" and "restore" things. (2) They have their own "translations" of the New Testament that make the Jehovah Witness crowd (with their so-called translation) turn pink with envy! Not only has the Church been supposedly off base for nearly 2,000 years, but our scholarly translators (those evil men with "Greek mindsets") have purposefully mistranslated the Bible, so they claim. |
