I find it annoying and avoid using it! Some claim it "makes the Bible accessible", but like the vibe I get from you, I'm skeptical about it's accuracy to the original manuscripts, and therefore I'm concerned that it hampers growth. I haven't researched it in depth, so I might be being too harsh, but in my mind it's like relying on a children's Bible for your theology... it will probably introduce you to essential things, such as Jesus (which is good), but it will give you a pretty shallow (possibly distorted) understanding.
