RE: Does Jesus bring a new Torah with the New Covenant?
Quote:Simply what Jesus said, as heaven and earth still remain so does the law. Being such the law remains, but are we under it...umm, now it becomes fun, since: You still didnt say which law ![]() You referenced Quote:Mat 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Is Jesus not affirming there the word of God as standing forever? Jeremiah who promised a "new covenant " (because the old one Israel broke) is as much a part of what Jesus affirmed as the law.So to me that verse cannot be used to say that we are still under Mosaic covenant and law. Jesus didn’t say just the Law, he said the Law and the Prophets, which include Jeremiah and his promise to make a New Covenant. If we say that the Mosaic Laws and covenant will always be in force how does Jeremiahs prophecy get fulfilled?
Luk 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: Luk 1:33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. |
