RE: Mark 7:19 from other thread
Quote:Here is a verse from Jesus after being risen in response to your highlighted passages from Mark above. I think in Revelation 2:14 Jesus is reproving them for their doctrine, not just for their dietary practices. Num 25:1 And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit harlotry with the daughters of Moab. Num 25:2 And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. Num 25:3 And Israel joined itself unto Baal of Peor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel. Num. 31:16 "Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the Lord in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the Lord." Nevertheless the NT says to not to eat food that has been sacrificed to idols. It repeatedly warns against it.So no Malawk, eating any type of food is not ok, we eat what God allows us. And in the Acts 15 passage its very clear that we are told there what to and not eat in the New Covenant. The distinction between clean and unclean isn’t mentioned. Which ties in very well with Peter's vision, that God cleansed these foods and they were no longer to be called unclean. Back to Balaam though, we notice that although Balaam blessed Israel with his mouth, yet with his actions he persuaded the people to turn to idolatry ,to sacrifice, eat and bow down to their gods and to the immoral and perverted sexual practices that went with it. Malawk would you agree that those Christians in Pergamos could be much like some Christians today who think nothing of being sexually immoral and who like Balaam with their words speak "good things" and their lives and yet with their conduct reflect another, inducing others to partake in sexual immorality and permissiveness. |
