RE: Did Peter's Vision of the Sheet Mean People & Food?
Quote:Before the flood there was no instruction to eat animals at all. In Raymond Moore's book, Homemade Health, he proposes that after the flood, due to the depletion of plant life, animals were permitted as food.I haven't read Moore's book but I doubt that animals were permitted due to depletion of plant life since that depletion(if it happened) would have been temporary otherwise animals would die since they too need plant life. It seems to me that the distinction between clean and unclean is always a ritualistic cleanliness and that prior to Sinai the distinction was necessary in order for people to know whatw as acceptable to sacrifice. Quote:When Noah was directed to bring animals into the ark, we notice there is distinguishment of unclean and clean.I believe Noah knew the difference between clean and unclean because maybe there already was a distinction in animals that were suitable for sacrifice and those that were not. The Bible is not clear on whether people were allowed to eat meat or not prior to the flood. We know definitely that God did give us plant materials as food.He also said every green herb and do we take this literally now? I wouldnt fancy nightshade salad for example. Anyway back to my point while we are not sure that people prior to Noah did eat it with God's blessing we do know that from the time of Adam sacrifices were conducted. Gen 4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: So based on the above I assume that certain animals might have been clean to sacrifice and some were not and that is why Noah was aware of the distinction. It was for ritual and sacrifice purposes. |
