General questions for former Messianics

For those in this thread that were originally attracted to the Messianic movement, and then left:
if you don't mind me asking, what attracted you to it in the first place, and why did you decide
it is a false movement?

Did you indeed really feel like you were closer to Jesus
and 1st century Christianity by doing so? Or was it the
attraction of the "Jewish" practices they do? I've always
felt it was the latter myself.
