"Sounds of the Trumpet, Inc. is the teaching ministry of Richard Booker, best selling author and Bible teacher ..."

Sounds of the Trumpet, Inc. was established in 1979 as a nonprofit Christian organization by Richard Booker as the means for providing Bible study materials..."

The vision of the ministry is:

To provide foundational Bible Study materials for the purpose of helping believers grow in their faith and

To provide teaching materials on the Jewish roots of Christianity in order to help Christians and Jews understand the Hebraic background of the New Testament and Christianity.

The Bible study materials are unique in that they contain the meat of the scriptures in a clear, easy to understand language with practical application for everyday Christian living."

Richard Booker, MBA, Ph.D., is an ordained Christian minister,[although I can find no documentation of which denomination] President of Sounds of the Trumpet, Inc., and the Founder/Director of the Institute for Hebraic-Christian Studies.

He is the author of thirty books which are used by churches and Bible schools around the world. He has also developed many seminars and Bible college level courses and writes regularly for Christian magazines.

Dr. Booker has traveled extensively for over thirty years teaching in churches and at conferences on various aspects of the Christian life as well as Israel and the Hebraic roots of Christianity

Dr. Booker and his wife, Peggy, lead yearly tour groups to Israel where, for eighteen years, Dr. Booker was a speaker at the International Christian Celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem attended by over 5,000 believers from 100 nations.

Dr. Booker’s teachings are designed to help believers better understand the Bible and their covenant God. ...

Dr. Booker and Peggy founded the Institute for Hebraic-Christian Studies (IHCS) in 1997 as a ministry to educate Christians in the Hebraic culture and background of the Bible, build relationships between Christians and Jews, and give comfort and support to the people of Israel.

Their tireless work on behalf of Christians and Jews has been recognized around the world as well as being represented at the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus.

Dr. Booker has a daily television program which can be seen on the internet at godslearningchannel.com... and around the world via satellite. He has produced over 350 programs...

...A Fuller and Clearer Understanding of the Bible

“The Bible is a book written by Jews, to Jews, about a Jewish Lord.

In order to understand the meaning of their words for today,

we must read them in the context of their world, not ours.

“Discovering the biblical Hebraic roots of Christianity

gives a fuller and clearer understanding of the Bible,

renews your passion for Jesus, and will change your life forever.”

Dr. Richard Booker

His spiel is the same teachings of other HR in that we are to be grafted into "the hebraic origins of the faith" instead of being grafted into Christ who is the Vine--we are the branches, and He is also the Root of the Vine.. Jews and Gentiles either are broken off for unbelief, or both/either are grafted in when believing Christ. 47b20s0

He claims Paul is misunderstood.Eyerub..and we need to learn from our Hebraic Jewish roots.

RICHARD BOOKER, Ph.D. (Ancient Festivals and Culture)

" Dr. Booker has a B.A. from Louisiana State University, a M.A. and Ph.D. from International Seminary. "MA and Ph.D from International Seminary" --means---

International Seminary > FAQS >http://www.internationalseminary.com/FAQs.html

Quote:*Bolding, underlining and color added** "1.1 ARE YOU ACCREDITED?

This is one of the most complicated questions we are asked, primarily because it is not really a question that the student is interested in, but is the question they have been told to ask. To answer the question:

Yes, we have been accredited since 1979. We are accredited with the Accrediting Commission International located in Beebe, Arkansas. This agency is not recognized by the Federal Department of Education so it is not considered regional accreditation. They deal only with colleges like us that are strictly religious in nature, and therefore do not fit under regional accreditation. We do not offer any secular courses or programs, and we do not intend to change our curriculum to add them..."

It really shouldn't be a complicated question--are you accredited? 89

Here's what Steve Levicoff had to say in his book Name It and Frame It, first concerning Richard Booker's source of MA and Ph.D, ie International Seminary and then their source of accreditation, the "Accrediting Commission International located in Beebe, Arkansas:"

Quote:Chapter 12

A SURVEY OF DEGREE MILLS

INTERNATIONAL SEMINARY
P.O. Box 1208
Plymouth, Florida 32768-1208
(407) 886-3619

Formerly known as International Bible Institute and Seminary and affiliated with Tyler Crusades, Inc., the school purports to be "fully accredited by an agency which is not listed by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency." However, they note in a marketing letter that they are accredited by the Accrediting Commission International for Schools, Colleges, and Theological Seminaries, "which is recognized by some as being the same as regional accreditation." That, of course, is a misleading statement, since some people will recognize anything if it's convenient. Of thirty-three faculty members, thirty-one have one or more of their own degrees from International (a whopping 94%), and twelve have their only degrees from International. This fact itself damages their credibility. In their catalog, a sample diploma dated March 1989 includes the signature of founder Glenn E. Tyler. The problem: Tyler died in August 1988. Since diplomas are a representation by living administrators of a person's successful graduation from a program, this makes them even more questionable. Advertises or has advertised in Christianity Today, Ministries Today, Pulpit Helps, and The Seminary & Graduate School Handbook...." levicoff.tripod.com/nifi/nifi-12.htm [/color]
Eyerub

Notice in their FAQS, International Seminary stated that their accreditation with the Accrediting Commission International , "is not considered regional accreditation." 9456

More indepth in Levicoff's, Chapter 4 >The Wacky World of Degree Mills. A little background on Levicoff's understandings. Please note--His book is no longer available online that I am aware of.:

Quote:"...Obviously, if a Christian school is accredited by its regional association, the Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges (AABC), or the Association of Theological Schools (ATS), it's reasonable to assume that the school is a legitimate institution.

Remember, though, that if a school is not accredited by one or more legitimate agencies, that does not necessarily mean that it's a degree mill. If a school is unaccredited and doesn't claim an unrecognized accreditation, it may have chosen not to pursue accreditation for some of the legitimate reasons discussed in the last chapter. On the other hand, a school probably is a degree mill if it is unaccredited by a legitimate agency but purports to be accredited by an agency that is not recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or CORPA. In the same way that there are degree mills, for example, there are also accreditation mills. ...."

Quote:"....The most well known of these is the International Accrediting Commission for Schools, Colleges, and Theological Seminaries, which accredits several of the schools listed in Chapter 12 ("A Survey of Degree Mills"). Since 1982 the Commission has accredited some 130 church-related colleges and proprietary (profit-making) schools in the United States and several foreign nations. Among the institutions accredited by the Commission was the Eastern Missouri Business College, the story of which provides a good illustration of how far the accreditation scam can go.

In 1989, Erich V. Vieth established the Eastern Missouri Business College and applied to the International Accrediting Commission for accredited status. Vieth opened a "headquarters" for the college in a one-room office in Missouri and printed a catalog for the school that listed faculty members such as Arnold Ziffel, Edward J. Haskell, M. Howard, Jerome Howard, Lawrence Fine, and Peelsburi Dobouy.

(For the astute reader who might perceive some irregularity in the school's faculty, it might help to note that Arnold Ziffel was the pig on the TV show Green Acres, Eddie Haskell was a character on Leave It To Beaver, and Messrs. Howard, Howard, and Fine were collectively known as "The Three Stooges." As for Peelsburi Dobouy, hopefully that's obvious enough.)

The college's seal was emblazoned with the Latin phrases Solum Pro Avibus Est Educatio on the top and Latrocina Et Raptus, which loosely translate, respectively, "education is for the birds" and "everything from petty theft to highway robbery." The college offered doctorates by mail in subjects ranging from genetic engineering to marine biology and aerospace science; according to John Bear, their marine biology text was The Little Book of Fishes.

Erich V. Vieth, the school's founder, was the ideal person to start such a school. However, unlike most founders of degree mills, Vieth wasn't out to rip off the public. He was actually an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri.

Eastern Missouri Business College was, in fact, part of a sting operation designed to expose accreditation and degree mills operating in Missouri. With the establishment of the school, state Attorney General William L. Webster said, "The college handbook we fabricated was purposely made to be so outrageous that even a minimal review would have raised serious questions about the school's authenticity."[1]

The result? Dr. George S. Reuter, Jr., founder and president of the International Accrediting Commission, visited the college's one-room "campus" for a review. According to Assistant Attorney General Vieth, "We rented an office for a day. We got some office furniture - about four or five desks. We even had a faculty meeting so everybody could get their stories straight for the accrediting interview. But it wasn't necessary; he didn't ask any questions. Reuter didn't ask to see our financial records or our student records."[2]

Reuter, who holds a traditional doctorate in education from the University of Missouri, was slapped with a $15,000 fine and an injunction that enjoined the International Accrediting Commission from further operations. Reuter decided not to fight the fine or the injunction, as he was about to retire and close the agency anyway. (However, in 1992, Reuter was named president of International Bible College and Seminary in Independence, Missouri, a degree mill listed in Chapter 12.)

End of story? Not at all. After Reuter retired, he transferred his agency to John Scheel, who crossed the state line to Beebe, Arkansas, and began operations under a new name, Accrediting Commission International for Schools, Colleges, and Theological Seminaries. The "commission" continues to accredit degree mills throughout the nation, many of which falsely purport to be legitimate Christian schools. ...." Smilies-34787

"....Accreditation mills have only one purpose: to communicate an air of credibility to degree mills..." levicoff.tripod.com/nifi/nifi-4.htm

Just a recap, International Seminary has stated they are " Yes, we have been accredited since 1979. We are accredited with the Accrediting Commission International located in Beebe, Arkansas., which is the same organisation listed above. Sign0138

This is where Richard Booker obtained his MA and Ph.D. Along with "18,000" others of many denominations which are listed in their online catalogue (pg 9).

One of the notes of interest while reading the International Seminary site History...was this:
Icon_runforhills

Quote:On April 1, 1989, during the official Flag Raising Ceremony, the campus was formally dedicated and set apart for use by the community, the residents of the State of Florida, and Christians from around the world. The unusual campus dedication involved the use of a fire-fighting helicopter that "anointed" the property with 500 gallons of red-tinted water symbolic of the Blood of Christ. Shortly thereafter, the first all-night prayer meeting was conducted with thirty-nine in attendance..." .www.internationalseminary.com/GeneralInfo.html
