Pastor Or Reverend???

On the contrary its not that I dont see significance its that pastors priests and ministers take on so much for themselves that it’s a wonder they know if theyre coming or going sometimes.
But where does this leave the rest of the body? In many denominations the rest of the body lies back and does nothing because they think all these job descriptions belong to the pastor/priest/minister. Meanwhile the Pastor leaves no room in his life
for spontaneity and the promptings of the Holy spirit since his day will be scheduled to fit in with all these activities on a regular basis.
I see nothing wrong with churches or groups of believers appointing certain people to do certain administrative jobs but to make them above or set apart or being worthy of more honour or a salary I think we have seen is unbiblical.

The reason why I ask you what you do is because many (and that includes you) believe that only you as pastor are called to take on certain duties such as the one s you elaborated on in your last post.

However we have discussed what the word pastor means here already and that it is only used once in the NT when not referring to christ.
If you are supposedly equipping the saints you are teaching them.And you say

what are these works of service that only you as pastor can equip them for? You mentioned a few things that you did

Quote:I pray, I study, I prepare spiritual nourishment for my flock. I write three sermons every week (or bible studies). I visit the sick and afflicted. I counsel the troubled and hurting. I make administrative decisions in our church. I attend many meetings for planning etc. I preach at funerals and memorials. Some of the things that I do can be done by others, some cannot, atleast not until I am able to find someone with that gifting and am able to "equip them".

We should all be visiting the sick and afflicted.As a believer I find myself counselling people daily on all sorts of things.I may also be called upon to teach certain things of the faith with another believer or perhaps evangelise someone who doesnt know God yet.Many believers take it upon themselves to go and speak in schools or prisons yet they are not pastors.
What I dont understand is why you choose to take on upon yourself a combination of roles that we are all called to play at different times during the day and then insist the congregation pays you for it.That is what gets me. And you then try to ,rather unsuccesfully ,use Scriptures to make your point.The ephesians verse differentiates between teacher and pastor..yet you say you are both?
It seems to me you want to as a pastor oversee everything and take control of everything.Things which should instead be delegated to other believers.And while you say you equip them to do this I highly doubt it.You deliver your sermon each week,you officiate at weddings and funerals , do a couple of other things and expect the whole congregation to support you financially in this.With a tithe no less! Hmm!!
