I am not sure about this, to be quite honest. Did Jesus break the Sabbath, or did he break the accretion of human traditions built over it?

Incidentally this raises the question of "building a fence around the Torah".

I now reject this for as a legalism it is bondage, a crushing burden. I also hold that it does not ensure obedience to the commandment. In hedging the commandment about with other commandments (like not keeping meat and milk in the same shelf of the fridge) it is on the contrary disobebedience which is concealed, not obedience which is guaranteed
