Paul himself said who am I or who is Apollos? Don't follow us, follow the messiah. (Paraphrased) So the point I am making is when someone wants to make a case for their point of view, don't give me "Paul says....." Give me "Yehushua said....." I will answer this on the "Why Should We Listen to Paul" thread: http://www.seekgod.ca/forum/showthread.php?tid=60 Quote:As far as the disciples picking corn, Yehushua was basically saying it's o.k to do what is necessary to eat on the sabbath. Don't follow the traditions heaped on by the pharisees to adhere to the Torah because what they added isn't Torah. Don't gather food to eat on the Sabbath is a direct instruction in Torah. Which only proves the point that Jesus was changing Torah - it was no longer important to keep the Sabbath according to Torah, but because He stated that He is Lord of the Sabbath - being in Him is our Sabbath Rest 24/7 Quote:Also the example of the oxen in the pit. What he was trying to do was say "Keep the Sabbath. However if something is necessary to be done in your life while here that is good or helpful then do it." It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that he didn't have a problem with the Sabbath. He had a problem with man dabbling in what the Almighty had established and adding to it to "make it better". Then what do you make of Jesus adding to the Law to make it better? [ie: do not lust = adultery; do not hate = murder, etc.] Quote:As far as it being stated that Yehushua having to be Torah observant to be the sinless sacrifice is something that was grabbed out of thin air. I never said that or even hinted at that. Yehushua is supposed to be our example correct? So I wouldn't think it would be a reach to say he observed the Sabbath as an example to us. He healed on the Sabbath. He said it was lawful to do good on the Sabbath. I apologize as in hindsight I did mean Judaism. Sometimes I don't express myself as eloquently as I should. I don't exactly express myself eloquently either. I tend to rub people the wrong way :punch: To clarify what I mean, when you say that Jesus is Torah observant, you are implying that He sacrificed for sin. Messianics really do push the Torah observance canard for Jesus right out of the gate. It is the #1 reason that they give for keeping it themselves ![]() |
