Mark 3:11,12
11And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.

12And he straitly charged them that they should not make him known.

Why did Jesus not want himself to be known at this time?

The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Psalm 18:2

I think because every prophecy concerning Him and His time on earth had to be fulfilled. And he wasn't done teaching with and preparing the apostles. Everything has a time.
