RE: Where does Scripture say Jesus is God?
Your whole caps and lower case issue falls apart, doesn't it Mark, if we apply it to all the verses about God and Christ including ones you specifically ignored?
For example this reference to Christ: Jer 23:5 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. 6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Isa 4:2 In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel. Zec 3:8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH. 9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. Zechariah 6:12-13 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD: 13. Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. Hi Lois, I think for some the issue becomes in deciding what is actually Scripture. Many in HR deny the NT, maybe starting by denying the deity of Christ verses, then Galatians, then Hebrews, then Paul's writings... and pretty much then everything is overturned because it couldn't be translated from the Greek correctly, because it wouldn't have been written in pagan Greek, but Hebrew and well we don't have the 'original' Hebrew but we don't need it all anyway because we are supposed to keep Torah and that's all in the OT anyway....Because Jesus said not one jot or tittle would pass away...etc. Because Mark (and others in HR)is using the ISR, and likely other similar sources which overturn so many foundational doctrines, including the deity of Christ, the New Covenant and so on, it becomes an issue of simply refuting those things. In many cases, as we are seeing, it's all ignored because of tunnel vision and avoidance in dealing with the Scriptural Truth's. All Scripture is indeed inspired by God...and He forewarns Pro 30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell? And Peter wrote: 2Pe 3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 2Pe 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 2Pe 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. RE: Where does Scripture say Jesus is God?
1 John 3:16 , great verse ! Even "if" thats not saying what it seems to be saying ,there is another way of looking at it to prove its saying what its saying . Here's the deal . If this is about love and it is because it mentions Love, then it relates to 1 Jhon 4:8 " ...God is love ." So ,who's love was displayed ,the Father who sent the son , or the son who did the deed ? Both ,the Father who had to suffer to send his son and the son who actually did it, suffered and died at the hands of cruel men. Thats love and thats God ! So ask yourself, is Jesus God ? Careful
