Clothing is a Covering that Represents ....
I had heard recently [from a Christian leader] the concept that Jesus covers our nakedness, literally, with clothing to represent how He covers our sin. Just like God covered Adam and Eve's nakedness with animal skins after they had sinned. So when we get dressed very day, we are to present ourselves in the best light possible to others, because this represents how Jesus "covers our nakedness" > with our clothes. Trying hard not to comment
![]() Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is there Scripture to support this concept?

Trying hard not to comment I know Scripture says women are to dress "modestly", which I assume means "not like a prostitute". I usually wear black t-shirts and sweats, black 10-eye Doc Martens and American and Canadian flag head scarves when I go out for mundane purposes (shopping). When I go to shows, skinhead scooter runs, biker parties, hockey games and especially Scottish Highland Games, I dress like a skinhead girl--black bowler hat, black short skirt/black jeans, same Doc Martens (I never wear shoes) and a black MA-1 flight jacket with 14 gazillion patches and pins that can be seen a mile away. In addition I wear between 4 and 10 rings on both hands and a slave bracelet with black crosses pattée. This draws people's looks to my gear and not to my anatomy. That would definitely draw people's attention At least here in "conservative city" - but I bet in Cali it's pretty normal ![]() Your jacket reminded me of some military slang - a uniform loaded with medals, etc, is called "fruit salad" - cute |

Trying hard not to comment I actually don't know quite what to say. Jesus isn't physically dressing me when I get dressed, although He guides my thoughts. What I put on is dictated by what I am going to do that day. Whether just be at home or go out in public. I am quite glad to have clothes because in the winter it might not be very comfortable to go outside at all without them in a snowstorm. That Jesus provides all we need as far as clothing and everything else, but I don't think what the person is teaching is a sound doctrine. There is certainly nothing in the Bible that says such a thing. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we are to make our bodies living sacrifices. And as YYZ mentioned about dressing modestly--which I also think applies to men as much as women, because vanity and immodesty can be a snare for all. I don't see the concept in Scripture as this person presents it. Adam and Eve were provided clothes by God, not just due to sinning and seeing their own nakedness, but the effects of sin meant they would be facing the weather and elements which they were obviously protected from in Eden.
Vic SeekGod.ca 3John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. |
