RE: Did Jesus Destroy or Fulfill the Law
Continuing the conversation from Does Jesus bring a new Torah with the New Covenant? http://www.seekgod.ca/forum/showthread.php?tid=29
Tony(Wild Olive)has said(and I've heard others say this before too not just him) that the laws concerning the Levitical priesthood and sacrificial system have been done away with having been fulfilled through Christ Jesus but Jesus said, Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Tossing out the laws concerning the Levitical priesthood and sacrificial system is a whole lot of jots and tittles being passed from the law when Jesus said, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Would that then mean that all the law would have to be fulfilled through Christ Jesus at one time or else it would be passing at a jot and a tittle at a time which would be contrary to scripture?
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.(2John 1:9) |
