I had the opportunity to read your question, and the responses that you recieved from Mary and Vic. God bless you all. The Bible needs no defense, however, there is nothing wrong with shedding light on scriptures if we can do it specifically relating to the question. The O.T. dealt with a paganistic generation that only understood certain rituals, laws, and edicts that were handed down orally. The Father was very wise in teaching them (including Moses, and Aaron) by way of weaning them step by step away from their barbaric nature. Yes, He was, and is a God of mercy, therefore he did not destroy them for there paganistic and barbaric ways.

The Father understood that they were in Egypt longer than they were free! So allowances were made for them to give them the opportunity to know, realize, and understand that He was the one true, and Living God. This has to sound familiar to us, because he does the same for us today, everyday! He is a patient God, because he shows longsuffering dealing with us being stiff-necked and rebellious as He did with the Israelites. Finally yes, He is also a wrathful God, because after giving several opportunities for us to come and serve him we still at times act contrary, so we are visited with the results of our own disobedience.

The majority of the wars that were fought in the O.T. were fought against those who were never going to submit to Gods plan. In consequence, he allowed generations to be destroyed, children included, not because he was hateful, but because his kingdom had to be established among the heathen nations. Rick, its funny how people will justify and even support the death penalty, and turn right around and condemn God for the punishments of those who terrorized others. In conclusion, sometimes it is best also to allow people just to see your light, Godly lifestyle, and giving heart. Believe it or not, this may be the only bit of God that they will experience! We cannot please all.

Peace

Hi Melchisedek,

Thank you for your contribution. I agree also with your additions.

I think we have to also take into consideration the spiritual rulers and principalities behind these warring tribes and nations. Not the least of which is Satan, himself who is an avowed and eternal enemy of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and their offspring.

Starting with Satan deceiving Adam and Eve, and his relentless pursuit to destroy God's people through the centuries.

Many of the peope we talk to, have no clue about the spiritual wickedness in high places that have influence in our physical realm.

Sorry, I have to be short tonight. Have to run. Please pray for us and all our neighbors as there are forest fires 6 miles north of us and they are not fully contained. We have had the worst drought in Texas history and pine trees just explode into flames. We live in southern Texas and it seems the whole State is on fire.

God is good....all the time.

Blessings,
Rick

Jer 12:5 If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?
