Rosh Hashanah
Do Messyantics and Hebrew Roots folks celebrate this holiday? If so, do they turn it into some insulting goofball caricature of the real Jewish holiday (I have a feeling I already know)?

RE: Rosh Hashanah
Bearing in mind the wide diversity in worship among messianics and hebrew roots, what I see regarding this feast is that many of them are aware that it is not the Biblical new year and many do celebrate the day as Yom Teruah or Feast of Trumpets and not the Talmudic new year. It does depend though as I have also seen many celebrating it a la Jewish style with consumption of sweet foods etc.
What does seem to be more universal among messianics is that they kinda celebrate the Feast of Trumpets but erroneously connect it to Christ's second coming and what they think will happen in the last days. Would be good if you got some answers from practising messianics as to what they are currently doing. |

RE: Rosh Hashanah
I've heard many Messies say that Jesus was born on RH/YT. Is there any evidence in the NT
that this is true? Messies as in general (at least from what I have seen) tend to copy what Jews do. So I'm sure they are eating round challahs and sweets and having honey with everything. Keep in mind there are actually four "new years" during the Jewish year; RH is only one of them. |

Quote:Are you sure you're not confusing it with Sukkot?Yeah, positive. I know that most Messies think he was born during succot, which is why I was surprised to hear a couple say it was YT. Maybe they made a mistake, or maybe they are just trying to connect him to RH for some reason. |

RE: Rosh Hashanah
A self-proclaimed Messianic "Jewish" friend of mine does send Happy New Year e-cards to people on RH. She says it is the "civil" new year. I just read about a calendar that says there is an "agricultural" year from fall to fall, which I think that is what became more important than the "beginning of months for you" that God told Moses.
