Is this why my parents died?
Mat 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

I did love my mother more than God and I probably still do. I fear God more than I love Him. Ever since my mother died I have been wondering this. Did He take my mother because I loved her more than Him? Or did He take her because I was cruel to her? It's hard for me not to blame God for it, but when I do I beg Him to forgive me for blaming Him, because I know ultimately that it's really my fault that she died.

I don't think God would take your mother for either of the two reasons you pose.Would God really end a person's life based on what someone else does or doesn't do.
In any case, how does one quantify the love we feel for others? It's such a hard thing to quantify..do we love our children more than our parents..what about our grandparents...it is something I have always found hard to quantify..and when it comes to loving God more or not-it's hard in my opinion to quantify also..it's something I prefer not to think about as it does my head in LOL
but seriously I would doubt totally that God would end your mother's life for the two reasons you posed.God decides when a person ends their life and although we don't know why and when I am sure our loving God would not base it on whether you loved your mother more or not.As to being cruel to her-there are people that suffer terrible abuse etc and they still remain on the earth so again I don;t think that would be a reason.

As to the Scripture verse- I do think it could apply for example to people who deny or hide their faith in Christ due to family pressures.
a big hug!!!

RE: Is this why my parents died?
At the outset sorry for your loving mom. Life is like a river, it can't be static. If someone is born, he/she must die once. And it's eternal, universal truth...
