I only saw this today (at least I cannot recall seeing it previously). I dunno a whole lot about this guy except that he had something to do with Nixon/Watergate and that the dude at cuttingedge.org doesn't like him. I am fairly sure I have seen his name in the articles on this site. HOSTIS HVMANI GENERIS ![]() VISUALIZE WORLD WAR |

RE: Chuck Colson dead
It's interesting the different takes on a person, and of course only God knows the heart of each. Colson was one of the most ecumenical leadership and influential to that end.
He co wrote Evangelicals and Catholics Together > http://www.seekgod.ca/ect.htm The later ecumenical ventures of the second edition of it > http://www.seekgod.ca/ect2.htm http://www.seekgod.ca/unite.htm ; http://www.seekgod.ca/ec.htm ; The Manhattan Declaration discussed on this forum > http://www.seekgod.ca/forum/showthread.p...=manhattan Other ecumenical groups such as > http://www.seekgod.ca/eject2.htm Interfaith Council for Environmental Stewardship http://www.seekgod.ca/ICES.htm The International Fellowship of Christians & Jews > http://www.seekgod.ca/apostles.htm Had various ideas that seemed incredibly contrary to Biblical truth and Christ Persecution Free Chrsitianity http://www.seekgod.ca/persecution.htm http://www.seekgod.ca/imagination1.htm There's other articles that discuss his beliefs as well. Jesus said we will know by the fruit of someone and part of that fruit, is whether what they believe and teach as biblical doctrine is indeed sound doctrine. In other words, can it stand the test of the Word of God. I know there is no other redeemer than Jesus Christ; Mary is not a co-redeemer, nor was she perfect/holy/or without sin. She had children with Joseph after Christ was born, we are not to pray to dead people or idols of them aka statues...that is all Biblical...so we cannot unite with those who hold those types of beliefs, and there is issue after issue that Colson taught/believed/united with and promoted acceptance of such as that, which was all contrary to Scriptural Truth. And that is the standard to which we are called to evaluate things. Being nice to family or others isn't and cannot be the standard of whether someone is sound in the faith. There are many good and nice people in the world, but they don't necessarily know Christ of the Scriptures, and for most, their beliefs do not stand the test of Scripture. 2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 2Ti 4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. Tit 1:6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. Tit 1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; Tit 1:8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; Tit 1:9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. Tit 2:1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: Tit 2:2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. Tit 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; Tit 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, Tit 2:5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. Tit 2:6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. Tit 2:7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, Tit 2:8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. [1Ti 6...] 1Th 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 1Th 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 2Pe 3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: Jud 1:17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; Vic SeekGod.ca 3John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. |

RE: Chuck Colson dead
[/font]As a Christian I regard him as a brother and thus honor his memory in those things I can safely commend. His politics and eccleasiastical polity is something I could not in good conscience praise. I suppose I might say well of a prostitute in those things good and human, as Rahab with the spies, since divine morals supercede national betrayal, yet I would not venture to hop in bed. In my understanding of shaking hands over the fence, yet retaining the walls, is hypocritical in the least, and destructive at the end. I am to walk in love and peace along with grace and truth. The desire for common peace is itself a snare and difficult at best. I seek to comply with living as a brother or a Christian and not as an authority. I contend for the truth within my circle and avoid extending beyond my limits or bounds. If Colson and his party or friends were merely advocating this or like things :
"The love of Christ compels us and we are therefore resolved to avoid such conflict between our communities and, where such conflict exists, to do what we can to reduce and eliminate it. Beyond that, we are called and we are therefore resolved to explore patterns of working and witnessing together in order to advance the one mission of Christ. Our common resolve is not based merely on a desire for harmony. We reject any appearance of harmony that is purchased at the price of truth. Our common resolve is made imperative by obedience to the truth of God revealed in the Word of God, the Holy Scriptures, and by trust in the promise of the Holy Spirit's guidance until Our Lord returns in glory to judge the living and the dead." "In our continuing discussions, we seek no unity other than unity in the truth. Only unity in the truth can be pleasing to the Lord and Savior whom we together serve, for he is "the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6)." then I might desire to defend his ministry and work instead of admiring his zeal and labors. But since it is not so, but more like that of the Rechabites of Jeremiah's day I must nicely excuse myself. I agree with this : "I know there is no other redeemer than Jesus Christ; Mary is not a co-redeemer, nor was she perfect/holy/or without sin. There are many good and nice people in the world, but they don't necessarily know Christ of the Scriptures, and for most, their beliefs do not stand the test of Scripture." Ro 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service.Ro 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.Ro 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think [of himself] more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.Ro 12:4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:Ro 12:5 So we, [being] many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.Ro 12:6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, [let us prophesy] according to the proportion of faith;Ro 12:7 Or ministry, [let us wait] on [our] ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;Ro 12:8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, [let him do it] with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.Ro 12:9 [Let] love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.Ro 12:10 [Be] kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;Ro 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;Ro 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;Ro 12:13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.Ro 12:14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.Ro 12:15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.Ro 12:16 [Be] of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.Ro 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.Ro 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.Ro 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but [rather] give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance [is] mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.Ro 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.Ro 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. |

RE: Chuck Colson dead
Hi Mike,
I think one of the most important things is knowing that only God knows the person's heart. Whether someone is of Him, only He really knows and that's I suppose the wheat and tares syndrome at times. There are so many leadership today that have such huge influence and yet when tested to Scripture they are not sound doctrinally. I am so thankful God sorts all this out in the end, but He has left us the Scriptures to use as our litmus test of truth and error. When error is profound and there is clearly a pattern of errant doctrine being promoted, the only thing I can believe is the Scriptures and what they call us to. Thankfully we can make those discernments, and attempt to be obedient. It can be disheartening when viewing others as brothers and sisters in Christ, but we are to only follow Christ, which makes it a little simpler in the scheme of things. The cry of peace is a snare as you noted, and we know that all in Christ are already united in the bond of peace because of the Holy Spirit. I praise God for that. We all are on a learning curve, to understand what it is to live for Christ and how. But we know that God's Word stands true for us to live by, and it is those things that help us help each other, always pointing to Christ and His Word. Thanks for those Scriptures. Ephesians 1:2-23 Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. 3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4. According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6. To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 7. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 8. Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; 9. Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: 10. That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: 11. In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12. That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14. Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. 15. Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, 16. Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17. That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18. The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19. And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20. Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21. Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22. And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23. Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. 1Co 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: 1Co 1:3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. 1Co 1:4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; 1Co 1:5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; 1Co 1:6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: 1Co 1:7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: 1Co 1:8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Co 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. 1Co 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 1Jn 2:24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. 1Jn 2:25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. 1Jn 2:26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. 1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. 1Jn 2:28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. 1Jn 2:29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him. Heb 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. Heb 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Vic SeekGod.ca 3John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. |

[color=#1E90FF][b]Hi Mike, I find that among Christians that we are caught already in a ruin state of our nature and our nation, the family and the church also in a ruined appearance. Love demands me to try to mitigate evil, so I learn Christ, and so I guard myself from easily believing reports that destroy. Since I am new and there is much recorded in posts and research I am making my way through things as time permits. The article on myths is broad, the research on Rockefeller is objectionable and questionable in some points, but I desire to finish the read and study. This year, appoaching my 60th, I have decided before the Lord to set aside my many other curious studies and focus on editing various mp3 Bibles in bi-lingual alternating chapters in order to listen to the scriptures twice a month, Genesis to Revelation, and the NT only in those cases where the OT is not available. I began in January and am on track, being on my 9th cycle, or 18th time through the Bible for 2012. And though I have always read and heard the Bible several times a year since 1970, this year I find my understanding, thanks to God's Spirit at work, taking me beyond former limits. So, as a brother to a sister, with respect, I find this place a nice place to drink and share in grace and truth. I desire to behave myself and cherish all true members of Christ, young or old, male or female, or any other distinction. Its been some four years since MSN shutting down their groups that I have thought to become active again. |
