Filling the Blanks With Fuller
THE FULLER
EVANGELICAL
'THINK
TANK'
-
2
Corinthians 11:3-4
-
" But
I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve
through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted
from the simplicity that is in Christ.
-
For if he
that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not
preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have
not received, or another gospel, which ye have not
accepted, ye might well bear with him."
Information
reveals that many in today's leadership and organizations were
as a result of involvement with Fuller Theological Seminary in
some way. Fullers goal was to devise and implement strategies
and methodologies, that, according to Nancy Flint, who worked
with John Wimber, "... run the gamut from introducing
heretical doctrine, to manipulation of spiritual forces
through the bringing down of "fire" from heaven,
virtually all pockets of resistance to this global movement
have been overcome... Literally thousands of church leaders
have been trained and "deployed" into
"power" positions from this seminary." Our own
research would concur with these statements.
The following are just some
of the individuals who have contributed to framing the
heretical doctrine being taught at Fuller and spread
throughout the world today as "New Evangelicalism."
Donald
McGavran 1897-1990, A
missionary, educator, author, and a minister in the Christian
Church/Disciples of Christ, Donald McGavran was founding dean
of Fuller Theological Seminary's School of World Mission in
Pasadena, CA.[1965-71] Serving as a United Christian
Missionary Society missionary in his native India from 1923 to
1957, he later worked as a professor at Indianapolis's College
of Missions (1957-60) and as a director at Northwest Christian
College, Institute of Church Growth [1961-65] before joining
Fuller in 1965. There he became senior professor of missions
in 1971-1990. He was also Director of the Lilly Endowment
Research in Church Growth in Latin America from 1965-1967. A
biography is found at Wheaton
archives. >http://www.wheaton.edu/bgc/archives/guides/178.htm#301
In
addition, McGavran lectured and founded churches around the
United States and wrote numerous books, among them How to
Teach Religion in Mission Schools, How Churches Grow,
Understanding Church Growth, Crucial Issues in Missions
Tomorrow, The Eye of the Storm: The Great Debate in Missions, and
The Clash between Christianity and Cultures. His
articles appeared in International Review of
Missions, Missiology, Evangelical Missions Quarterly,
Christianity Today, and other periodicals. He was also a
writer of news and views column in United Church Review, India,
1943-47 and editor of Church Growth Bulletin, 1964-90.
He was a member of the National Association of Professors of
Missions and the American Society of Missiology.
Besides founding the Fuller School of World Missions, McGavran
developed the methodology of “contextualization” of
the gospel for each culture and which teaching is found in the
Perspectives curriculum. His Bridges of
God (1954), originally titled, "How Peoples
Become Christian" is viewed
"...as
the classic summons for missionaries to utilize the
"bridges" of family and kinship ties within each
people group thereby promoting "people movements"
to Christ...To Christianize a whole people, the first thing
not to do is snatch individuals out of it into a different
society. Thus a Christward movement within a people can be
defeated either by extracting the new Christian from their
society (i.e. by allowing them to be squeezed out by their
non-Christian relatives) or by the non-Christians so
dominating the Christians that their new life in Christ is
not apparent.... It is important to note that the the group
decision is not the sum of the separate individual
decisions. The leader makes sure that his followers will
follow. The followers make sure that they are not ahead of
each other. Husbands sound out wives...As the group
considers becoming Christina, tension mounts and excitement
rises. Indeed, a prolonged informal vote-taking is under
way. A change of religion involves community change. Only as
its members move together does change become healthy and
constructive." [Perspectives Reader, p.B-137-140]
McGavrans
methodology of "people movements" and the idea that
cultures were to be "redeemed" by "redemptive
analogies" are globally embraced. According to McGavran
the focus of the church is not to save individuals or disciple
them, although he points out that is not to be forgotten.
However, "extraction evangelism", that is, to save
one person out of the "context" of his sociological
'unit' is a setback to global evangelization. He believed that
when Jesus said to make 'disciples of the nations', He meant
literally, the entire NATIONS including the governments.
Jesus said He comes to the individual. No one else can make us
Christian-- that is, a true follower of Christ. [See: Carrying
My Cross]
Revelation
3:20 " Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man
hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and
will sup with him, and he with me."
John 6:44
" No man can come to me, except the Father which hath
sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last
day."
The idea
that a group must come to know Christ, rather than an
individual, in order for one to make it in Christ, is entirely
un-Biblical. Keeping in mind that many have accepted Christ
when hearing the message of salvation in a group forum, Paul
wrote in Acts 13:48 "And when the Gentiles heard this,
they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as
many as were ordained to eternal life believed." Think of
the example of Noah, the disciples and many others who stood
outside the masses and yet remained faithful. Jesus said:
Matthew
10:35-38 "For I am come to set a man at variance
against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and
the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's
foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father
or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth
son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that
taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of
me."
Matthew
10:32-33 "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before
men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in
heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I
also deny before my Father which is in heaven."
Matthew
10: 21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death,
and the father the child: and the children shall rise up
against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. And
ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that
endureth to the end shall be saved." To endure means
having the power to finish--which comes from resting in
Christ. It was not based on group discussion or consensus, or
a family discussion whether "they should do it.". It
was based on God drawing individuals to Himself.
John 6:65,
Jesus said, "And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that
no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my
Father."
Romans
9:15-16,18 "For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on
whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I
will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth,
nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy. 18
Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom
he will he hardeneth."
Our walk
with Christ cannot be bound by who walks with us, or, who
rejects or hates us. [See: Persecution
Free Christianity] Acceptance of Christ and spiritual
growth are dominated by what Jesus taught in Matthew 13:18-23
" Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. 19 When any
one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not,
then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was
sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way
side. But he that received the seed into stony places,
the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy
receiveth it; Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for
a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because
of the word, by and by he is offended. He also that received
seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the
care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the
word, and he becometh unfruitful. But he that received seed
into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and
understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth
forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."
What
McGavran was promoting was reconstructionist/dominionist
theology which we've shown to be part of far to many lives.
The concept of a 'culturally relevant' message incorporates
pagan practices into Christianity. In other words, the
culturally relevant gospel is not the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
If indeed it was necessary to change the gospel and make it
'culturally relevant' then we would have to conclude that a
Biblically simple message of salvation would never be accepted
in various cultures.
However,
that theology is easily disproved by "God's
Simple Plan of Salvation," which tract has been
distributed worldwide in 112 languages. Over 540,000,000
copies have been distributed by the year 2000, with wonderful
testimonies as a result. For those who suggest that, for
example, a muslem or 'african' are needing a 'culturally
relevant gospel', one merely needs to read the various
testimonials such as:
Kisumu,
Kenya: Many souls have been won to Christ through reading
GSPS...
Kisumu,
Kenya: I received your tract...I received Jesus Christ as my
Savior. I read this tract to another creature like me and he
believed in Jesus. There are now 120 believers...
Ghana
West Africa: ...after reading it [GSPS] I got saved...I
believe if we share these tracts many people will be saved
through them."
Old
Umuahia, Nigeria: I am the Traditional Ruler in this
village. We offer sacrifices by killing goats and cocks for
long life and protection all the days of our lives. I now
beleive that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried and rose
from the dead. For the first time in my life the true gospel
reached my heart and made me whole. Please help my village
to receive this true gospel
Lagos
State, Nigeria: ...I was a Moslem before I decided to give
my life to the Lord Jesus Christ after reading GSPS. I
realized I had never heard the message of salvation as a
Moslem. This was June 15, 2000. It has not been easy
changing my religious background. I know for sure God has a
reason for making me do so. I believe He will see me through
to the expected end...." [Excerpts from Salvation
Testimony Letters, Vol. 12; Lifegate, Inc]
Paul
warned in 2 Corinthians 11:3
-
" But
I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve
through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted
from the simplicity that is in Christ.
We discuss
the use of Culture in the article Taking
the Mark of the Beast. The root word of Culture is
cult--that is, making a cult of one's customs, arts,
conveniences and traditions. There are not a variety of
beliefs and gospels in the Word of God. There is one Gospel,
One faith and One Body. No matter what we come out of, we are
all become new, rejecting the things that are not compatible
with the Truth in God's Word. Accepting the Lord Jesus Christ
is an individual decision and is not, nor can it be, based on
"people group" acceptance.
Ephesians
4:3 "Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in
the bond of peace.
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in
one hope of your calling;
One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all,
who is above all, and through all, and in you all."
Galatians
1:6-9 "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him
that called you into the grace of Christ unto another
gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble
you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we,
or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you
than that which we have preached unto you, let him be
accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man
preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received,
let him be accursed."
Paul and
the other disciples could not have known of the 'necessity' of
'contextualizing the gospel'. Rather they rejoiced as
individuals from all manner of backgrounds turned their lives
over to Christ by the simplicity of "their gospel."
1
Thessalonians 1:7 So that ye were ensamples to all that
believe in Macedonia and Achaia. For from you sounded out
the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but
also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad;
so that we need not to speak any thing. For they themselves
show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and
how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true
God; And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he
raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from
the wrath to come.

Ralph
Winter –
Winter is the founder of the US
Center for World Mission, Pasadena CA, >
http://www.uscwm.org/> which was a direct
result of strategies developed at Fuller. Ralph Winter spent
ten years there, as professor of missions at the School of
World Mission. Winter was also instrumental in forming a
movement called Theological Education by Extension, the
William Carey Library publishing house, the American Society
of Missiology, the Perspectives Study Program, and the
International Society for Frontier Mission.
The US
Center for World Missions is an umbrella organization which
oversees the outreach ministry of the entire global
evangelical church. Joint initiatives fall under the Lausanne
banner, AD2000 and Beyond Movement, GCOWE and numerous
others. Of the 4000 plus groups that partner with USCWM are
the Mission Aviation Fellowship, Wycliffe Bible Translators,
Intervarsity Fellowship, Campus Crusade for Christ, Billy
Graham Evangelical Association, Christian Educators
Association and other organizations and groups working in
Christianity.
USCWM is
divided into: Strategy; Mobilization; Training which
subdivides into World Christian Foundations, Perspectives
Classes, and Frontier Service Corps; and the final division
being Services. It physically houses over 300 missionary
researchers in dozen's of institutes. It's Global Mapping
Project (GMP), is a computer data bank that compiles data
gathered by Wycliffe Bible Translators, World Vision and all
the other agencies USCWM houses. The William Carey
International University programs allow missionaries a way
around 'closed to missionaries' countries by offering a degree
in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
If one
reads his various writings, particularly in Perspectives,
we would note that Ralph Winter changed the new covenant in
Christ back to the Abrahamic covenant. Winter believes and
instills in his teachings that there is one covenant in the
Bible, the Abrahamic covenant. In his way of thinking, the
church is to take the Biblical law and standard to all
nations, which, according to him, both the Jews and Jesus
failed in their "mission" to do. He claims that
Jesus came to re-iterate the Abrahamic covenant and the church
has now been assigned the "secret mission" to bring
it to completion. http://www.perspectives.org/index.html
Ralph
Winter's intent of implementing Biblical law correlates with
our research on the Hebrew
Roots movement and subsequent research into it's roots and
connections, which span into every denomination. The various
branches all lead into two things which all are being leavened
with, and that is gnosticism and the occult.
Winter, along with Jay Gary
and others, developed the Perspectives Curriculum,
which has been embraced worldwide. The
World Network of Religious Futurists presents the article,
"What
Mean These Stones?, The Watchword Consultation Report from
Colorado Springs, by Jay Gary and Todd Johnson. It shows
Winter's influence and the ecumenical connections.
"...Under the
auspices of the Christian Futures Network, some 16 leaders
gathered in Colorado Springs on March 15-16, 1999 to mark
the 20th anniversary of "A Church for Every People by
the Year 2000... We affirmed that "A Church for Every
People by the Year 2000" was a call to a new
generation. In 1979, it focused the call to "frontier
missions," which Dr. Ralph Winter had been giving since
the 1974 Lausanne Congress. During the consultation, Winter
observed that the watchword brought a paradigm shift, toward
reaching peoples, rather than just countries; toward forming
churches, rather than just winning souls. We rejoiced in the
fact that the Watchword gave birth to the Perspectives Study
Program and the Caleb Project which exposed thousands of
people to the power of unreached peoples thinking and shaped
the life calling of hundreds of missionaries. In the late
'80s, the second half of the watchword, "by the year
2000" gave birth to an AD2000 vision. As we entered the
'90s, national evangelism strategies, confessional decades
of evangelism, and mission and intercession strategies were
all empowered toward the 10/40 window by the millennial
milestone." http://www.wnrf.org/networks/watchrep.htm
We know that the original
call to the 1974 Lausanne Congress was put out by Billy
Graham. "Perspectives" was designed to
follow-up converts of Billy Graham, Intervarsity Fellowship,
and Campus Crusade outreaches and crusades, and is widely
being used for the training of field workers for Wycliffe
Bible Translators. The principles behind Perspectives are to
get individuals educated in restoration, dominion and
manifested sons of God theology and to see to it that these
individuals are effective in infiltrating "key"
positions globally, who then are strategically able to
implement the agenda. Many naive Christians have been seduced
into this program, because they simply do not recognize the
theology of the writers, their resources or their theology in
the various chapters within the course.

C.
Peter Wagner (B. 1930).
He is known as a missions strategist and heads the Department
for Church Growth at Fuller Theological Seminary since 1971.
All strategies and methodologies for the AD2000
& Beyond, for which he was a coordinator, and
the Lausanne Consultations were developed at Fuller
Theological Seminary beginning in the 1930s and are
spearheaded by Peter. Wagner co-authored MC510 Signs and
Wonders with John Wimber and took the course globally to every
continent. He and John were the implementers of the
'restoration' of the missing "holy spirit"
and reintroduction if the 'gifts and mission' to the church.
According to various sources, the Post-denominational Church
Movement and Ad2000 United Prayer Tract Spiritual Warfare
movement, which were spearheaded by C. Peter Wagner, included
co-leaders such as Francis Frangipane (co-pastor with Reuven
Doron - who works under direct authority of Latter Rain
leader, James Watt), Ed Silvoso, Ted Haggard, Cindy Jacobs,
James Morroco, John Dawson, Esther Ilnisky, Larry Stockstill,
Larry Lea and many others.
Peter's memberships include:
Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization (1974-1989);
American Society of Missiology; Society for Scientific Study
of Religion; Association of Professors of Mission; Evangelical
Missiological Society; American Society for Church Growth
(founding president); and the American Lausanne Committee. See

Global
Harvest Ministries: "Since prayer is the precursor to
every great move of God, a fully equipped nerve center with
data and information about prayer needs throughout the world
enable intercessors to pray intelligently. Global Harvest
Ministries networks prayer ministries, denominations, churches
and cell groups for this purpose. This creates a united prayer
front that opposes Satan's attempt to divide and isolate
believers, and blind so many to the Gospel of Jesus Christ."

"To affect spiritual
breakthroughs this decade, it is essential to provide timely
information for prayer to the Body of Christ. The Research
and Strategic Communications Division manages this function
through research, strategic prayer processing, and
mobilization.
"Through the Observatory
Research Center, spiritually relevant information and
strategic prayer points are collected and communicated to
the church worldwide. Two other ways to connect for prayer
are through our bi-monthly newsletter; the Global Prayer
News and our email prayer update the Prayer News Alert. http://www.globalharvest.org/observatory
"Spiritual Mapping
- George Otis, Jr. "Otis has taken a strategic
leadership position in conceptualizing and designing
research methodologies for spiritual mapping. He directs the
spiritual mapping Division of the United Prayer Track."
Note: George Otis' Sentinel
Group >http://www.sentinelgroup.org/, was founded in 1990, an was an extension of Otis'
earlier work with the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelism,
which was launched by Billy Graham. Staff are a
"balance" between evangelicals and charismatics, but
describe themselves as 'conservative charismatic."
Sentinel researchers recorded supposed spiritually transformed
communities and in 1999 released a video documentary called Transformations,
>http://www.sentinelgroup.org/resources/itempg.cfm?itemid=11
"Imagine a community where 92 percent of the population
is born-again; where city jails have been closed for lack of
crime; where agricultural productivity has reached biblical
proportions...Journey with host George Otis, Jr. to
transformed communities on three continents. Learn how the
power of prayer can deliver similar results in your own
neighborhood ." [sentinel>http://www.sentinelgroup.org/WAW3.html]
Sentinels ministry involves showing intercessors how to deal
with the "spiritual pathology" of their community.
"If there is an obstruction to God's power and
presence...the secular world refers to this process of
discovery as either cultural geography or epidemiological
surveillance...we prefer to call the discipline
"spiritual mapping."[city

targeted the 10/40 Window. Now our first entire month of
prayer for the 40/70 Window will fall right in sequence,
namely October 2001.

"The Prayer Track was

intercessors to pray for the unreached peoples of the 10/40

AD2000 And Beyond:
United Prayer Track "[It was the] central
catalytic movement of the decade for synchronizing the
numerous worldwide forces for evangelism that God has been
preparing for these times."

"Otis has taken a strategic leadership position in
conceptualizing and designing research methodologies for
spiritual mapping. He directs the spiritual mapping
Division of the United Prayer Track."

"…helping churches and Christian leaders discover
practical ways of implementing this in their cities Scores
of cities in many nations are in one stage or another of
implementing this state-of-the-art strategy for
evangelizing their cities."

"… seeks to deal with such conflict in a Christian
way using Biblical principles like identificational
repentance…. seeks to discover ancient and modern wounds
of injustice, pride and prejudice and to heal them in a
Biblical way—that is to say without self-righteous
accusation or dishonest cover-up. " See: AD2000

for the future of the AD 2000
& Beyond United Prayer Track and Spiritual Warfare
Network [SWN].

--The
Future
"The future of the
AD2000 United Prayer Track. The AD2000 Movement goes out
of existence at the end of the year 2000, and the final
celebration will be held in Jerusalem over that New Years
Day of 2001. Luis Bush's International Office in Colorado
Springs will close. ... all the AD2000 tracks will cease to
exist as part of the AD2000 Movement per se at that time....
Some will continue independently ... Prayer Track, will
transition into new wineskins. Our new wineskin is the World
Prayer Center... The major outward symbol of this will be to
change the title of Prayer Track News to Prayer Center News
beginning with the January-March 2000 issue. At that time
the list of the leaders of the United Prayer Track and the
Spiritual Warfare Network which have appeared on the back
page of every issue will no longer appear. Instead the staff
of the World Prayer Center will be listed.
I have recently written to
George Otis, Jr. (Co-coordinator and Director of the
Spiritual Mapping Division), John Dawson (Director of the
Reconciliation Division), and Eddie and Alice Smith
(Coordinator and Executive Director of the U.S. Prayer
Track), informing them of the change as of 2000 and
recommending ways that we might continue our relationship in
the World Prayer Center. I plan on writing in a similar vein
to Ed Silvoso (Director of the Strategic Prayer Evangelism
Division)...
The Spiritual Warfare
Network. The SWN came into the AD2000 Movement as a
condition of my accepting the invitation from Luis Bush to
coordinate the United Prayer Track in 1991. ... While the
SWN and the Prayer Track have been separate organizations,
they have, by agreed upon design, been closely associated
through the decade... many United Prayer Track coordinators
have doubled also as Spiritual Warfare Network coordinators.
As I have said, you are the key players in the International
Spiritual Warfare Network.
I do not see the Spiritual
Warfare Network phasing out as will the United Prayer
Track.... I will continue indefinitely as the international
coordinator of the SWN and my office will be the
international office.
... I am switching from a
top-down to a bottom-up management style.... My goal is to
have the world covered by coordinators...I will exercise my
role as international coordinator only on the initiative of
geographical coordinators from now on, and I will support
the WSWN only where I am in relationship with a coordinator
who wishes to have the covering and support of the
international office..." http://www.globalharvestministries.org/home.qry?ID=307
C. Peter Wagner’s World
Prayer Center [WPC]> http://www.globalharvestministries.org/home.qry?ID=41
"The World Prayer Center is a
trans-denominational effort spearheaded by two Christian
leaders. Each was called to play a strategic role with the
Center. They are: Dr.
C. Peter Wagner of Global Harvest Ministries, and Pastor Ted
Haggard of New Life Church, Colorado Springs,
Colorado."
The World Prayer
Center is home for two ministries joined to serve
the church and mobilize prayer for the lost. Global
Harvest Ministries collects and broadcasts strategic prayer
requests, spiritual mapping data, and reports evangelistic
breakthroughs. New Life Church, under the direction of Rev.
Ted Haggard, has mobilized over forty local churches for
24/7 prayer at the World Prayer Center. World Prayer Center
(A division of New Life Church) trains and mobilizes local
church prayer leaders under the banner of the National
Association of Local Church Prayer Leaders (NALCPL).
http://www.nalcpl.net/
"Since prayer is the
precursor to every great move of God, a fully equipped nerve
center with data and information about prayer needs
throughout the world enable intercessors to pray
intelligently. Global Harvest Ministries networks prayer
ministries, denominations, churches and cell groups for this
purpose. This creates a united prayer front that opposes
Satan's attempt to divide and isolate believers, and blind
so many to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. "
