Harry Potter:

The Fruitless Deeds of Darkness

Ephesians 5:11

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

Mrs. Connie Neal concluded her Interview, Harry Potter and the Disputable Matter, on by saying , "J. K. Rowling has created a body of literature that is consistently moral within the moral world she created. Kids are eager to read about it. And—whether by design, the influence of her literary training, or an undisclosed spiritual training—the moral world of Harry Potter is in keeping with what the Bible reveals about the nature of good and evil. Therefore, we can use these stories for godly purposes—regardless of whether the author intended them to be used for training in Judeo-Christian faith and practice."

That many will not recognize the occult symbolism or practices in the Potter books or similar writings is not isolated. Initiation into the occult and hidden mysteries has always involved gaining understanding of the secret meanings of the symbols. 33rd degree Mason and Luciferian Albert Pike wrote, "Masonry, like all the Religions, all the Mysteries, Hermeticism, and Alchemy, conceals its secrets from all except the Adepts and Sages, or the Elect, and uses false explanations and misinterpretations of its symbols to mislead those who deserve only to be mislead; to conceal the Truth, which it calls light, and draw them away from it.” [Pike, Morals and Dogma, p. 104-5]

Pike also wrote, "....Christianity should not have hated magic; but human ignorance always fears the unknown...." [p. 730]. Isn't that the same message Rowling is attempting to purvey about witchcraft?

As mentioned previously, entering the fantasy or otherworld of witchcraft is real and current witchcraft. According to the Shaman organization--shaman are witches-- "Shamans are a type of medicine man or woman especially distinguished by the use of journeys to hidden worlds otherwise mainly known through myth, dream, and near-death experiences. Most commonly they do this by entering an altered state of consciousness using monotonous percussion sound."

Even the use of anagrams, which occultists love to use to hide meanings of things, is found with the Mirror of Desire and also a required book "Unfogging the Future", mentioned on p. 45 of the Prisoner of Azkaban.  It is a "divination" or fortune telling book authored by "Cassandra Vablatsky."  Divination and fortune telling require demon possession or 'consultation with familiar spirits,' which is forbidden by God. Vablatsky is an acronym for Blavatsky, aka Helena P. Blavatsky, (1831-1891), occultist, spiritist, Luciferian, magician, Mason, and founder of the occult Theosophical Society.

As well, an anagram can be applied to the name Salazar Slytherin, the founder of the Slytherin house from which dark magic is practiced. Salazar can also be Lazaras, which is a name synonymous with being raised from the dead in the Scriptures. That is precisely the wicked goal of Voldemort, only the goal is to use the power of witchcraft to overcome death.

We're introduced in the Philosopher's Stone to the occult practice of shape-shifting or transfiguration as it is taught at Hogwarts. The cat who transforms into Professor McGonagall, is merely representing what shamanism and pagan traditions have taught for centuries. Shapeshifting is a belief that suggests that each person has an animal personality or inheritance that indwells them. In shamanism the animal or creature becomes their spirit guide --demon--through meditation. Native lore suggests that seeing a particular animal means a particular message. In Harry Potter, McGonagall was a cat--sacred to occultists, there was also mention of a werewolf, dog, rat, and stag and vampires. One website promoting shape-shifting says that it has to start "in the imagination" and that shapeshifting can only take place through the mind and spirit. In other words this is a current occult belief, again, contrary to what Rowling and others would have us believe, and is presented to children in Transfiguration and the mention of animagus--people who can transform into animals.

The very introduction of evil that relates to UFO nonsense of the 'greys' is found in the description of the Dementors, who are described as having 'rotting hands,' "where there should have been eyes, there was only thin grey scabbed skin, stretched blankly over empty sockets. But there was a mouth...a gaping, shapeless hole, sucking the air with the sound of a death rattle' [p.281, Prisoner] Some websites describe certain UFO creatures as also not having eyes. The Dementor appearance is signalled with "the familiar icy cold penetrating his insides, fog starting to obscure his vision..." The cold is described in testimonies by those who have been demon possessed.

Of the various occultism,  is the presentation of a fear of everyone but Harry and Dumbledore to say the name of the wicked Voldemort. Voldemort's story is that he's a good wizard gone bad who gathered followers--not unlike a perverted parallel to Satan and his demons. There are no good wizards as wizardry is evil in God's sight. One cannot parallel wizards and witchcraft to angels--as many try to do. The various characters refer to Voldemort as: Lord Voldemort, The Dark Lord, He-Who-Must-Not -Be-Named and You-Know-Who.

In the Philosopher's Stone, p. 14,  Dumbledore is commenting on people calling Voldemort, You-Know-Who.

"...It all gets so confusing if we keep saying 'You-Know-Who". ' I have never seen any reason to be frightened of saying Voldemort's name.'

"I know you haven't,' said Professor McGonagall,...'But you're different. Everyone knows you're the only one You-Know--oh all right, Voldemort--was frightened of."

'You flatter me,' said Dumbledore calmly. 'Voldemort had powers I will never have.'

"Only because you're too --well--noble to use them."..."

On p. 216 Dumbledore tells Harry-- 'Call him Voldemort, Harry. Always use the proper name for things. Fear of a name increases fear of the thing itself.'

Not being able to say the name comes from a perversion of the occult and kabbalistic teaching of being Master of a Name and having power over the 'person' whose name it is. The name of God was said to be revealed only to the adepts and it was revealed through Gematria, a form of Kabbalistic numerology.  In Talismans & Masters of the Name we read:

"Much of the interpretation and mystical practices of the oral Torah are related to the Name of God. The Tetragrammaton or Schem Hamphorasch refers to what Kabbalists and many Orthodox Jews call the Ineffable Name. The four-lettered name of God, in Hebrew is, "yod, he, vau, he", or in English capitals YHVH, although some occult sources say it's IHVH. Others also state that the YHVH is "yood, hey, vood, hey." According to various writings, the true ancient pronunciation is now unknown since it has been believed that the Name was too sacred to be written or pronounced by the profane. ....

From other information, we know that the sages, who promoted this belief, were mystics, many of whom also believed the entire Torah was the Name of God. Through gematria permutations and other practices, "72 names of God" could also be discovered. The Divine or Ineffable Name is believed to be known only by those adepts that qualify for that secret initiation and knowledge and these are believed to become endowed with "magical powers" by uttering or writing it.

....Historical records reveal many Jewish adepts who made an impact on their peers by their magical abilities, although many orthodox Jews rejected their feats as charlatanism. However, their magical abilities were also the impetus for various movements which divided the Jews over whether the particular adept was indeed the long awaited Messiah.

These adepts were called Masters of the Name or Baal Shems. The term, "Baal Shem means that the person was regarded as expert in the 'practical kabbalah' or magic. 'Baal Shem means literally one who is master of the name of God, who knows how to employ it." 31.

In a sense Harry becomes 'master' over Voldemort, not only by fearlessly saying his name, but defeating him in each book, with his own Black Magic. Except, Harry's witchcraft is presented as good. How can glorifying witchcraft be acceptable before God? How can a Christian walk in agreement with non-Christians on this matter?

Amos 3:3 "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?'

1 Corinthians 15:33 "Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. 34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame."

Galatians 5:9 "A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump."

Jesus prayed for the disciples and all those who came to know Him because of their witness.

John 17:15 "I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."

Peter encourages us to pursue knowledge of Jesus Christ who will give us all that we need to live victorious in Him.

2 Peter 1:2 "Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. 10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:"

Imagery & Witchcraft

2 Timothy 4:2-4

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

The following information breaks down the contents of the first four Harry Potter books and examines them, providing some observations concerning occult imagery, symbolism and actual witchcraft practices. It does not cover everything, but for those who need further detail of the content, this will serve as a guide.

It should be noted guides are being written for teachers concerning the mythology, occult terminology,  as well as actual people and places used in the Potter books. This guide is for those who have not taken the time to read the books or who have not understood what they are reading as it relates to the occult. It is intended to inform from a Biblical perspective.

Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

To Reprove-- "...find fault with; blame...reprove, rebuke=criticize or blame someone for a fault. Reprove suggests expressing disapproval or blame directly to the person at fault...with the purpose or hope of correcting the fault..." [Dictionary of Canadian English]

It should be noted that linking or sourcing occult data is for source reference purposes. It is not intended whatsoever to promote said sites, which were used merely to point out the witchcraft in the Potter books and to show that the occult is alive and very busy throughout the world and witchcraft is openly practiced. It is not a fantasy or a fable as some would have us believe. As has been said, Rowling said the vehicle of her story is witchcraft. If it's just fantasy we should not be able to find a current witchcraft practice that parallels her fantasy witchcraft.
