Harry Potter: The Fruitless Deeds of Darkness

 1

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

2 Timothy 4:2-4

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

The following information breaks down the contents of the first four Harry Potter books and examines them, providing some observations concerning occult imagery, symbolism and actual witchcraft practices. It does not cover everything, but for those who need further detail of the content, this will serve as a guide. It should be noted guides are being written for teachers concerning the mythology, occult terminology,  as well as actual people and places used in the Potter books.

This guide is for those who have not taken the time to read the books or who have not understood what they are reading as it relates to the occult. It is intended to inform from a Biblical perspective.

It should be noted that linking or sourcing occult data is for source reference purposes. It is not intended whatsoever to promote said sites. As has been said, Rowling said the vehicle of her story is witchcraft. If it's just fantasy we should not be able to find a current witchcraft practice that parallels her fantasy witchcraft. Initiation into accepting the occult is a process.

The Philosopher's Stone is the introduction to Harry Potter and covers his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as well as providing his story and that of the many characters. As shown previously, the Philosopher's Stone is an actual occult pursuit.

According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica article on the Philosophers Stone: "The stone, also referred to as the 'tincture' or the 'powder' ... was allied to an elixir of life ... Inasmuch as alchemy was concerned not only with the search for a method of upgrading less valuable metals but also of perfecting the human soul, the philosopher's stone was thought to cure illnesses, prolong life, and bring about spiritual revitalization."

Wizardry, witchcraft, sorcery, magic, divination and so on are all condemned by God and are works of the flesh.

Galatians 5:19 "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."

Dumbledore the  "greatest wizard" and headmaster of Hogwarts wears a cloak of purple, signifying royalty. That's calling a witch/evil good.

There is mention of Bonfire Night--important to occult rituals.

Dumbledore's gold watch --has twelve hands but no numbers, rather, little planets move around the edge, signifying the zodiac of astrology. See: Astrology; The Gospel of Truth?

Rowling made a huge point of having Owls flying everywhere as a symbol of Voldemort's downfall and the death of Harry's parents and they are used for communicating. It should not be a surprise to see that Owls in the occult, are associated with death, sorcery and the dark side of life.

In the Middle Ages, demons in the forms of owls attended witches, accompanying them on their broomstick flights and running around carrying out evil for them.  In the Egyptian system of hieroglyphs, the owl symbolizes death, night, cold and passivity. It also pertains to the realm of the dead sun, that is, of the sun which has set below the horizon and which is crossing the lake or sea of darkness (19).---Athena (Minerva) was the goddess of wisdom, learning and the arts. Owls were prolific in Athens, the city which Athena was patroness, and this, along with its wise appearance and ability to see in the dark (in symbolic terms, thus penetrating ignorance), led it to become an important symbol of wisdom. It was also the attribute of Demeter (Ceres), goddess of the harvest, and with a prophetic quality: its hoot was believed to warn of impending death and its appearance preceded the death of Dido, Queen of Carthage, and several Roman emperors. 1...

In many cultures, including those of Ancient Egypt and Christianity - this night bird denoted death, misfortune and spiritual darkness. Although the Celts regarded it as sacred, it was linked with the underworld as a "night hag" and "corpse bird". In Hinduism, it was the messenger of the Vedic god of the dead, Yama. West African and Australian Aboriginal cultures regard the owl as a messenger of sorcerers, and in medieval Western Europe, it was believed that witches could transform themselves into owls. For Native Americans; it shares this significance but can also symbolize wisdom. In China and Japan, it was believed to abduct children and therefore signified both crime and ungrateful offspring. The owl symbolizes blindness and is considered an unclean bird in Hebrew lore. Generally, the barn owl and horned owl are especially demonic. The screech owl, however, can sometimes play a benevolent role in warning the hunter of danger. "2

Rubeus  Hagrid --Half-giant and Keeper of the Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts, later Care of Magical Creatures teacher. Rubeus' is Latin for 'reddish', and is also one of the figures of Geomancy, one of the divination topics students learn. In Mythology, Hagrid  was banished from Olympus but Zeus allowed him to remain as keeper of the animals

SIRIUS Black -Harry's godfather- changes into a dog. Sirius is the brightest star in the sky and part of the constellation CANIS MAJORA. Sirius is recognized by occultists and Satanists to be the place where Lucifer dwells, that is, Hell, and Sirius is keeper of Hell. Venus, another name for Lucifer, became goddess of the Dog-star Sirius.

It is Jesus Christ who holds the keys of Hell and controls what goes on in those matters. Revelation 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Dedalus Diggle, -Wizard who let off shooting stars at the news of Voldemort's downfall. Harry met him in the Leaky Cauldron-a bar where the kids are able to drink Butterbeer-an alcoholic beverage. Daedalus, in Greek mythology, was a skilled inventor who was imprisoned with his son Icarus by King Minos of Crete and told to design a Labyrith for the Minotaur. He escaped by crafting wings from birds feathers and wax, but his son Icarus flew too near to the sun, so the wax holding his wings on melted and he plummeted to Earth.

1 Timothy 1:4 'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.'

When letters were flying through all manner of obstacles because Harry's Uncle did not want him to read them: Each time he kept a letter from Harry, more would be delivered. In order for that to be known and to be done meant demonic/poltergeist activity.

Midnight is known as the witching hour.

Harry is told the lightning bolt on his forehead was "when a powerful evil curse touches you." The significance to the mark of the beast cannot be overlooked as we draw ever closer to the end of the time of the Gentiles. That children worldwide are painting the mark on their foreheads to align with Harry the witch, should alert even the least Biblically informed that this is not a good thing.

Revelation 13:16 'And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."

Dragons are used to protect gold at Gringott's, a Wizard bank run by Goblins. Dragons and snakes are a symbol of Satan and well used in the occult.

Revelation 20:2 'And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years," Dragons in HP are said to feed on brandy and chicken blood."

Goblins are demons. Called elemental spirits, occultist Blavatsky wrote, "the creatures evolved in the four kingdoms of the earth, air, fire and water and called by the kabbalist gnomes, sylphs, salamanders and undines...may be employed by the disembodied spirits--whether pure or impure--and by living adepts of magic and sorcery to produce desired phenomenal results... fairies and fays, these spirits of the elements appear in the myth, fable, tradition, or poetry of all nations, ancient and modern. Their names are legion--peris, devs, jinn, sylvans, styrs, fauns, elves, dwarfs, trolls, norns, nisses, kobolds, brownies, necks, stromkarls, undines, nixies, salamanders, goblins, ponkes, banshees, kelpies, pixies....These elementals are the principal agents...at seances and the producers of all the phenomena except the subjective." ... A New Age catalog selling a tape on nature spirits states, "Oral tradition and literature depict nature spirits as fairies, trolls, leprechauns and angels..." 3

Harry Potter books use the following elemental spirits/demons as actual creatures: gnomes, elves, goblins, fairies, leprechauns, trolls, kelpies, dwarfs, banshee, pixies, salamanders.

One will find actual occult books with similar names.

Needed a cauldron to make potions---which witches use and do today. Cauldron signifies "abundance, and inspiration." Cerridwen, the 'goddess of wisdom and witchcraft" in an ancient legend is "the keeper of the Black Cauldron of Immortality."  "This is the Cauldron from which one sip could bring incredible insights, wisdom and supernatural power." Cerridwen is another name for Venus which is another name for Lucifer. [Burns' p. 241-242]

Kings Cross station-the departure to Hogwarts is actually in London--King's Cross Station and St Pancras Station are next door to one another, ...King's Cross Station was designed as the Great Northern Railway's London terminus by the architect Lewis Cubitt, and the structure was built in 1851-2. It was erected on the site of a former smallpox and fever hospital...The hotel for the station, also by Cubitt, was built in 1854 as a separate curved building to the left of the station and facing St Pancras...St Pancras Station and Hotel is the most magnificent in London, and one of the great examples of Victorian Gothic architecture. It was built for the Midland Railway...The hotel was added to the front by Gilbert Scott in 1868-74. The Gothic structure is in brick, with granite pillars and a clock tower somewhat in the style of Big Ben...The main entrance to the station is worth some examination. It is medieval cloister style - with a central arched passage and two side passages. The tops of the short columns are decorated, especially on the outside of the main entrance (i.e. facing into side passages). Note the series of dragons - eagle clawed, crocodile tailed, beaked, in pairs, with each pair different. Also small hanging-down bat-like gargoyles....The window to the right of the booking office is a good example of one motif - moulded dragons biting themselves Celtic fashion..." 4

Hermione Granger ---Considered the 'brightest witch' at Hogwarts. Specialty--spells and divination and one of Harry's best friends. Hermione is from a Shakespeare play, "A Winter's Tale; Hermione in Greek mythology was the daughter of Menalaus and Helen of Troy. In mythology--Hermes-" appears to have originated in the word for "stone heap." Probably since prehistoric times there existed in Crete and in other Greek regions a custom of erecting a herma or hermaion consisting of an upright stone surrounded at its base by a heap of smaller stones"... "came to denote Thoth in Egypt"--the hermetic arts/alchemy. "magicians attach the name to their ceremonies of evocation and invocation. Followers of Meister Eckhart, Raymond Lull, Paracelsus, Jacob Boehme, and most recently Valentin Tomberg are joined by academic scholars of esoterica, all of whom attach the word "Hermetic" to their activities." 5  Grange(r)  is a farmer, and is a member of the Grange--a political fraternal group similar to the Masons. All members of the family are encouraged to participate. 6

p. 62  There is much revenge seeking throughout the books and it is portrayed as a common and justifiable reaction. "Hagrid almost had to drag Harry away from Curses and Counter-Curses (Bewitch you Friends and Befuddle your Enemies with the Latest Revenges: Hair Loss, Jelly-Legs, Tongue Tying and much much more) By Professor Vindictus Viridian. "I was trying to find out how to curse Dudley.' "...you couldn't work any of them curses yet, yeh'll need a lot more study before yeh get ter that level."

'get ter that level' means that, as in real witchcraft, there are levels of initiation and learning.

Romans 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

p. 62  'silver unicorn horns for potions.' ---Unicorn Horn is another name for Italian Horn and Leprechaun staff. It was introduced by the Druids of Scotland and Ireland and is associated  with good luck and good fortune. It is also used to ward off "Maluka" or the  "Evil Eye" and means Satan will take care of your finances.

p. 64 Magic wands---"...every Ollivander wand has a core of powerful magical substance, Mr. Potter. We use unicorn hairs, phoenix tail feathers and the heartstrings of dragons....holly and phoenix feather...very curious indeed that you should be destined for this wand when its brother --why its brother gave you that scar.... the wand chooses the wizard..."

The wands supposedly choose their 'master', meaning that demonic control is what is portrayed. The cores are all elements of occult lore and connected directly to satanism. Magic wands were used by Druids.

Draco Malfoy---draco means dragon, mal means evil

Curse of the Bogies--curses are witchcraft and we are told not to curse our enemies.

A Bogie -- "The Bogey-man was a devil derived from the Slavic bog, "god." English cognates were bugabow, bugaboo, bugbear and boggle-bo which used to designate the pagan image carried in a procession to the May Day games. ... "Humbug" came from the Norse hum, "night," plus bog or bogey, i. e., a night spirit...." [Mystica: Bogey>http://www.themystica.com/mystica/articles/b/bogey.html

Romans 12:14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

Luke 6:27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, 28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.

Ghosts, poltergeists and apparitions--all occult and all demons. Dictionary def. of ghost " the spirit of a dead person. It is supposed to live in another world and appear to living  people as a pale, dim, shadowy form...'

Nearly Headless Nick ghost--almost had his head cutoff with 45 whacks of an axe. This could easily be an offshoot of the wicked true story of Lizzie Borden , whose parents were murdered by someone--she was cleared. But the story rendition of it is that they were killed with 40 plus blows--although in reality there were half that many blows. The point is, it is grotesque and of the occult. There are no 'good ghosts' who like to carry on a conversation with us.  There are merely demons who like to deceive.

p. 97-98  Imagery and symbolism--five poster beds in a circular room- five points in a circle-is the shape of a pentagram, which also has five points, and within a circle--a very wicked symbol.

p. 119, 141  Fluffy is Hagrid's three-headed dog who guards the Philosopher's Stone after it's taken out of vault 713 in Gringott's. That correlates to Cerberus in the Greek myth of Hercules.  Orpheus played music to tame  Cerberus, which would be why Hagrid said the "Greek chappie" who sold Fluffy to Hagrid said the dog was calmed by music. p 194

Seeker is a reference to a spiritual seeker in the occult. Harry plays a seeker in Quidditch, a game played through levitation on the brooms. The balls--bludgers which travel on their own -that is, demonic control--attack and try to hit the players. The Golden Snitch is described as a gold ball with fluttering silver wings. In the occult the ball would be referred to as a disc or solar disc and the image clearly describes the "winged globe." The winged globe and serpent symbolize the Egyptians triune deity, and Egypt was known as the land of the 'winged globe'. " The winged globe, says H.G. Wells, is " to become the symbol of the New World Order when it overtly rules the world." "The Rosicrucian's also lay claim to this symbol. R. Swinburne Clymer said that "the Winged Globe is primarily a Rosicrucian symbol." He adds: "The Winged Globe is the symbol of the perfect soul making its flight back to the source of its creation in the Elysian fields beyond." Another name for the winged globe is Lynx. This is the 'living winged globe of Chaldean magic tradition, symbolizing the universal spirit." 7  Blavatsky said the "winged globe" is another form of the egg and has the same significance as the scarabaeus [scarab] which relates to the rebirth of man, as well as to his spiritual generation.' In Goblet of Fire, Scarab beetles are used. Scarab beetles means immortality, past and future lives, meaning reincarnation and the power to create.

In Egypt scarab also symbolized Khebera, the god of creation and resurrection who was self-begotten. According to Anton La Vey of the Church of Satan, The Phoenicians  worshipped the fly god, Baal or Beelzebub. Both Baal and Beelzebub are identical to the dung beetle or scarabaeus. 8

Regarding reincarnation, Hebrews 9:27 states And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Levitation is a sought after occult practice. Levitation is portrayed by some--"Levitation is a phenomenon of psychokinesis (PK) in which objects, people, and animals are lifted into the air without any visibly physical means and float or fly about. The phenomenon has been said to have occurred in mediumship, shamanism, trances, mystical rapture, and demonic possession. Some cases of levitation appear to be spontaneous, while spiritual or magical adepts are said to be able to control it consciously ...."9. As those involved in these activities know, they cannot control the demonic.

The Sorting Hat---demonically or psychically if you will, evaluates each persons thoughts and in Harry's case the demon talks with him, when he doesn't want to go to Slytherin--the house that supposedly turns out dark wizards. The perception is given that the other houses practice 'good witchcraft' thereby, making a clear spiritual statement, that there is good and bad witchcraft. That is a lie. And, many Christians are lapping it up and reinforcing the thinking by saying the stories are about good versus evil. Hence we have good witches versus bad witches when God says all witchcraft is an abomination.

Werewolves, vampires, yeti--all mentioned and are part of occult lore.

p. 102, Imagery---potions class held in the dungeon--dungeons were where people were tortured; description of how actual drugs/hallucogenics/etc. affect a person. "... the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron with it's shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses...I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stopper death...."

'stopper death' means make a poison. The class is then taught about actual real plants and herbs, some of which are narcotics and poisonous.

p. 127. Halloween is celebrated as a feast, imagery of thousands of bats, table setting extravagant with gold plates, goblets, etc.. Halloween is a Satanic high holiday. Historically, in the middle ages it was known as "All Hallow's Eve," and was the eve of the Catholic celebration All Saints Day. Prior to that it was known as the "Vigil of Samhain," a god of the druids: the god of the dead. According to the druid legends, the souls of the unholy dead would walk the face of the earth, and gifts were given out to pacify these demons. And so today, we have Christians and non-Christians continuing the occult practice.

p.128--Stone griffin-- A griffin is a mythological animal which is meant to have an eagle's front half but a lion's back half. Occult teachings reveal the wicked and blasphemous ideas behind the myth.

"...In European bestiaries the griffin is usually portrayed as awesomely fierce. This bizarre creature was thought to dwell in the mountains, from which it swooped down on its prey; with powerful talons the beast could carry back to its nest a horse and rider — it was said to have a ravenous appetite for both ... Sometimes, griffins were themselves used for transport by the gods; the chariot that bore Nemesis, the ancient Greeks' dreaded goddess of vengeance, was frequently drawn by griffins. ... it was so powerful that parts of its body were greatly prized as talismans against evil and misfortune...in the 14th century, inspired by medieval comparisons of Christ with an eagle and a lion, the Italian poet Dante made the griffin a symbol of Christ. For others, however, the griffin was a demon that carried off sinners..." 10

God forbids the making of idols and Christians are to have nothing to do with idolatry.

Psalm 78:58 58 For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.

1 Corinthians 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

p. 133  Character attributes with justification---"Hermione had become a little more relaxed about breaking the rules since Harry and Ron had saved her..."

Some of the character qualities ignored by most who promote Potter and similar fare. Rule breaking becomes the 'end justifies the means.'

p. 134 Imagery and symbolism " [Hermione] ...conjured them up a bright blue fire which could be carried in a jam jar. They were standing with their backs to it getting warm..."

To conjure is to practice witchcraft--which we are not to do. Torches represent "the Occult arts and sciences, the doctrines and dogmas by the light of which Truth is made visible." 11  Blues symbolizes spirit; the Deep Self was said to appear blue when psychically 'seen'.  "In modern occultism the Deep Self often appears as the 'Spirit Guide'. 12  A site search for Blue fire was found with Faery Wiccans  and states, "...A Feary Power is used and strong emphasis is on spiritual and sensual exploration. The rituals are beautiful and involve sensuality, possession, shapeshifting, and direct contact with the fey. Specific to this belief is energy-working using pentacles and visualization of blue fire and the doctrine of the Three Selves...." 13

It should be noted again that use of these wicked sites is for source reference purposes and merely to point out that the occult is alive and very busy throughout the world and witchcraft is openly practiced. It is not a fantasy or a fable.

p. 144 --hatred for enemies and wanting revenge, totally contrary to the Scriptures.

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.

p. 149-150--celebrate Christmas with incredible feast.

Christians like to believe Christmas is about Christ--how can witches and non- Christians celebrate it with the same trappings, songs and traditions and with the same pagan elements? Non-Christians reject Christ, so what exactly is being worshipped or remembered? The history of Christmas tradition reveals it is not about Christ, but was incorporated into pagan celebrations such as Saturnalia. Pope Julius I brought in the 'Christian' element to the paganism. In fact there is no Biblical precedent or Scripture for it. Christ was not born on December 25, and the tales of the 3 wisemen, camels, the wisemen finding Christ in the manger, candycanes mean J for Jesus and various other Christmas fables are just that, fables. Christmas trees are right from pagan practices and described in Jeremiah 10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. 4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not."

People like to say they celebrate Christmas to remember Christ's birth and what He did for us---Christians need to be 'remembering' Him daily. Jesus said one thing that we were to do in remembrance of Him, which sets the Scriptural command for a tradition to be followed.

Luke 22:19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

p. 152. The Mirror of desire---mirrors are portals to the otherworld in witchcraft, as is demonstrated by Rowling--

'...It was a magnificent mirror, as high as the ceiling, with an ornate gold frame, standing on two clawed feet. ...inscription carved around the top: Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi....He had to clap his hands to his mouth to stop himself screaming...he had seen not only himself in the mirror, but a whole crowd of people standing right behind him. But the room was empty...A woman standing right behind his reflection was smiling at him and waving..."

Anagram --I show not your face but your hearts desire. Mirrors are used in the occult as a doorway to the otherworld and for divination, "..a method of divination. It consists of gazing into a crystal, a mirror or some water for example, anything shiny..." 14.

Divination is an abomination to God. Deuteronomy 18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD:...

p.156--Dumbledore commenting on how he knew Harry and Ron had been to the Mirror. "I don't need a cloak to become invisible.."

He was privy to what was going on without being physically present either through clairvoyance--knowing things not in sight-- or astral projection--which I believe is also demonic illusion--with the idea that one has left one's body. I believe that the demon provides the information to the person, in both cases, although others may disagree. It is only thorough testimony of occult practitioner's that we are given knowledge of astral projection. God's Word says the soul leaves the body at death. Genesis 35:18 And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) ...

James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

From a Skeptic's website we see the belief connected with none other than Blavatsky, "Astral projection is a type of out-of-body experience (OBE) in which the astral body leaves its other six bodies and journeys far and wide to anywhere in the universe.  The notion that we have seven bodies (one for each of the seven planes of reality) is a teaching of theosophist Madame Blavatsky. On its trips, the astral body perceives other astral bodies rather than their physical, etheric, emotional, spiritual, etc. bodies. In an ordinary OBE, such as remote viewing or the out-of-body near-death experience, there is a separation of a person's consciousness from his or her body. In the near-death out-of-body experience, there may be  the experience of hovering above and perceiving one's body and environs, and hearing conversations of surgeons or rescue workers tinkering with one's body. In astral projection, it is the astral body, not the soul or consciousness, that leaves the body. The astral body, according to Madame Blavatsky, is the one that has an aura. It is also the seat of feeling and desire, and is generally described as being connected to the physical body during astral projection by an infinitely elastic and very fine silver cord, a kind of cosmic umbilical cord or Ariadne's thread..." 15

We have one body and one spirit, not six bodies and various spirits--unless we are demon infested.

It's noteworthy that when Rowling describes the spiders escaping the room, she describes the 'silver thread' in a similar fashion to that of astral projection.

p. 169 --Warlock convention of 1709. A search on the Net reveals numerous World Shaman/witch Organization conventions. 1709 is also known for a Sikh rebellion.

Centaurs and Unicorns---

p. 183. Unicorn blood and Unicorn--

"..'see that stuff shinin on the ground? Silvery stuff? That's unicorn blood. ....It's not easy to catch a unicorn, they're powerful magic creatures...

p. 184.... Something was slithering over dead leaves nearby: it sounded like a cloak trailing along the ground....And into the clearing came--was it a man, or a horse? To the waist, a man, with red hair and beard, but below that was a horse's gleaming chestnut body with a long reddish tail...it's Ronan,' said Hagrid...he walked forward and shook the centaurs hand...Ronan sighed. He flung back his head and stared at the sky. 'Mars is bright tonight.'...Always the innocent are the first victims,' he said, 'So it has been for ages past, so it is now.'... 'Mars is bright tonight,' Ronan repeated...Unusually bright.'... A movement in the trees...but it was only a second centaur, black-haired and bodied and wilder looking than Ronan. ...Bane walked over to stand next to Ronan. He looked skywards. 'Mars is bright tonight.'...."Never,' said Hagrdi irritably, 'try to get a straight answer out of a centaur. Ruddy stargazers..."

The Centaur is Saggitarius in the Zodiac and is connected therefore to astrology. The reference to Mars and stargazing is of course the divination of astrology.

Centaurs {occultopedia} "Centaurs were wild, savage, lustful, bibulous, and aggressive, personifying man's baser instincts."

The Centaur, a false god,  is another name for Osiris, the Egyptian god of the dead, also known as the sun god. Throughout the world and various cultures, the various names for Osiris include: The Centaur, Liber, Bacchus, Dionysus (human sacrifices), Mithras (astrology), Zagreua (underworld divinity), Sabazius (solar deity, with horns and serpent emblem)  Deouis, The Boy Jupiter, Orion, Saturn, The Boy Plutus, Iswaram, The Winged One, Nimrod, Adoni, Hermes, Prometheus, Poseidon, Butes, Dardanus, Himeros, Imbors, Iasius, Zeus, Iacchus, Hu, Thor, Bel, Serapis, Ormuzd, Apollo, Thammuz, Atus, Hercules, Shiva, Moloch, and Baal16 [See Astrology: The Gospel of Truth?]

Referring to the following after paganism of Israel, God said, Isaiah 47:"...10 For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me...12 Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail. 13 Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee. 14 Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it..."

Jeremiah 27:9 "Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers,..."

"...A legendary animal generally depicted as having the head and body of a horse, the hind legs of a stag, the tail of a lion, and having a long tapering horn growing from the middle of its forehead....adopted by the alchemists, the legend of the unicorn who combines male and female in one beast is rich in the symbolism of opposites.... According to legend, only a virgin holding a mirror was able to tame a unicorn, and with dust filed from its horn a potion against deadly drugs could be produced. They were a pure white, cloven-hoofed, blue-eyed...solitary animal that could be captured only in a certain way. In 'A Dictionary of Fabulous Beasts' (1971) British writers Richard Barber and Anne Riches describe the method:

"A virgin, preferably both beautiful and naked, (was) bound to a tree; at which the unicorn, attracted by a creature as rare and chaste as itself, would approach, and meekly lay its head in her lap; and this would so entrance it that it could easily be killed by the hunter waiting in ambush."

The unicorn myth became transformed into a religious allegory, that of the Holy Hunt, which was depicted in countless medieval paintings, sculptures, and tapestries. In this, it can be said, the maiden represented the Virgin Mary, the unicorn Christ, the animal's horn the unity of Father and Son, and its death the Crucifixion...." 17 www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0333109678/occultopedia

The unicorn is also the Moon in astrology, a talisman or a charm, and in the New Age teachings, the symbol of a future conqueror or Messiah who will bring peace to the earth. That is, it is the symbol of the anti-christ who will deceive people with a false peace.

p. 186  The forbidden practice of drinking blood and the satanic imagery---

'Look"[Harry] murmured, holding out his arm to stop Malfoy. Something bright white was gleaming on the ground... It was the unicorn all right, and it was dead. Harry had never seen anything so beautiful and sad.  Its long, slender legs were stuck out at odd angels where it had fallen, and its mane was spread pearly-white on the dark leaves."

"Harry had taken one step towards it when a slithering sound made him freeze where he stood. A bush on the edge of the clearing quivered... out of the shadows, a hooded figure came crawling across the ground like some stalking beast. Harry, Malfoy, and Fang stood transfixed. The cloaked figure reached the unicorn, lowered its head over the wound in the animal's side, and began to drink its blood. 'AAAAAAAAAAARGH!'  Malfoy let out a terrible scream and bolted -- so did Fang.  The hooded figure raised its head and looked right at Harry -- unicorn blood was dribbling down its front. It got to its feet and came swiftly toward him---Then a pain pierced his head like he'd never felt before, it was as though his scar was on fire--half blinded, he staggered backwards. He heard hooves behind him...A centaur was standing over him...The centaur didn't answer. He had astonishingly blue eyes, like pale sapphires...My name is Firenze....growled Bane, Remember Firenze, we are sworn not to set ourselves against the heavens. Have we not read what is to come in the movements of the planets?...Centaurs are concerned with what has been foretold!..."Do you not see that unicorn?' Firenze bellowed at Bane. 'Do you not understand why it was killed? Or have the planets not let you in on that secret?... " [p. 186-188; Emphasis added]

Firenze is the Italian name for the city of Florence, where astronomy and astrology were common. That a mythological centaur saves Harry, because of divination is loaded with implication. As for the blood--

Acts 21:25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.

p. 188-189 [Firenze the Centaur speaking] "

'Harry Potter, do you know what unicorn blood is used for?' 'No', said Harry, startled by the odd question.  'We've only used the horn and tail hair in Potions'.  'That is because it is a monstrous thing, to slay a unicorn' said Firenze. 'Only one who has nothing to lose, and everything to gain would commit such a crime. The blood of a unicorn will keep you alive, even if you are an inch from death, but at a terrible price.  You have slain something pure and defenseless to save yourself, and you will have but a half-life, a cursed life, from the moment the blood touches your lips.' "

"Harry stared at the back of Firenze's head, which was dappled silver in the moonlight. 'But who'd be that desperate?', he wondered aloud.  "If you're going to be cursed forever, death's better, isn't it?'

'It is', Firenze agreed, 'unless all you need is to stay alive long enough to drink something else -- something that will bring you back to full strength and power -- something that will mean you can never die. Mr. Potter, do you know what is hidden in the school at the very moment?'

"The Philosopher's Stone! Of course-- the Elixir of Life! But, I don't understand who ... Do you mean', Harry croaked, 'that was Vol-- [demort]' "

This means evil Lord Voldemort  is near death, and is seeking to drink the Unicorn's blood to stay alive long enough to finally achieve eternal life through drinking the "Elixir of Life." By drinking it he will be able to create a new body, and have immortality--that is, be God. It doesn't get much clearer as to how occultic and contrary to Biblical truth, are the ideas embraced in these books.

The Bloody Baron is the Slytherin Resident Ghost "Harry looked over at the Slytherin table and saw a horrible ghost sitting there, with blank staring eyes, a gaunt face, and robes stained with silver blood ... 'How did he get covered in blood?', asked Seamus ... 'I've never asked', said Nearly Headless Nick." [p. 124]

Later in the book, the color of the blood of the unicorn is silver. So, did the Bloody Baron kill a mythical unicorn as this information would imply?

Shape-shifting animagus is like Proteus in the Greek story of Poseidon. It is supposed to be a person that changes into an animal.

p. 192-- uprising of Elfric the Eager---Elfric was a 10th century Anglo-Saxon monk, and his name means 'leader of the elves.' Elves are elemental spirits/demons.

p. 210-211-- Message and Imagery----Quirrell talking. "I find it hard to follow my master's instructions--he is a great wizard and I am weak--'...'He is with me everywhere I go,' said Quirrell quietly. 'I met him when I traveled around the world. A foolish young man I was then, full of ridiculous ideas about good and evil. Lord Voldemort showed me how wrong I was. There is no good and evil, there is only power and those too weak to seek it...Since then, I have served him faithfully...He does not forgive mistakes easily'....Help me, Master!' And to Harry's horror, a voice answered and the voice seemed to come from Quirrell himself....'

There is no good and evil? Is that what God says?

Philosopher's stone is blood red--red/ruby in the occult symbolizes the sun and power.

p. 212. Lies and Imagery----"'I must lie,' [Harry] thought desperately. ' I must look and lie about what I see, that's all' ...Harry would have screamed, but he couldn't make a sound. Where there should have been a back to Quirrell's head, there was a face, the most terrible face Harry had ever seen. It was chalkwhite with glaring red eyes and slits for nostrils, like a snake."

Lying is presented as necessary and valid under difficult circumstances. The imagery of Voldemort is totally evil and of the occult.

p. 213  Imagery and occult messages---Voldemort speaking  "See what I have become?" the face said. "Mere shadow and vapour...I have a form only when I can share another's body...but there have always been those willing to let me into their hearts and minds...Unicorn blood has strengthened me...you saw faithful Quirrell drinking it for me in the forest...and once I have the Elixir of Life, I will be able to create a body of my own..."...'Don't be a fool,' snarled the face. "Better to save your own life and join me...or you'll meet the same end as your parents...They died begging for mercy.' Quirrell was walking backwards..."

--- Satanist Alistair Crowley required all his disciples to be able to walk backwards. Very clear depiction of the desire to 'be God' by creating his own body and becoming immortal. There is also the concept of how people may be presented with either accepting the anti-christ or rejecting--save your own life and join or physically be killed.

p 213 -214 Imagery, witchcraft and violence  '...Quirrell's hand close on his wrist. At once, a needle sharp pain seared across Harry's scar; his head felt as though it was about to split in two...where Quirrell had gone and saw him hunched in pain, looking at his fingers--they were blistering before his eyes...Quirrell lunged...both hands around Harry's neck--Harry's scar was almost blinding him with pain, yet he could see Quirrell howling in agony. 'Master I cannot hold him--my hands--my hands!"...let go of his neck and stared, bewildered, at his own palms--Harry could see they looked burnt, raw, red and shiny. 'Then kill him fool, and be done!' screeched Voldemort. Quirrell raised his hand to perform a deadly curse, but Harry by instinct, reached up and grabbed Quirrell's face---...Quirrell rolled off him, his face blistering too, and then Harry knew: Quirrell could not touch his bare skin.."

p.216 Dumbledore explaining to Harry about the "Love" which protected him in his physical battle with Quirrell and Voldemort  "Your mother died to save you.  If there is one thing Voldemort cannot understand, it is love.  He didn't realize that love as powerful as your mother's for you leaves its own mark.  Not a scar, no visible sign, to have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will give us some protection forever. It is in your very skin.  Quirrell, full of hatred, greed, and ambition, sharing his soul with Voldemort, could not touch you for this reason. It was agony to touch a person marked by something so good."

Love is presented as a protective force which cannot leave, even though Harry's parents were dead.
