Subject: Hebrew Roots Article
From a
person who has left the Messianic/Hebrew Roots Movement in 2006
Hello Vicky,
I first want to say that I am
just soaking up all the information on your site as quickly as
my eyes will read. My journey has been lengthy but I will be
as brief as I can for the sake of time and your sanity.
I have just walked away from
the entire "Messianic/Hebrew Roots" movement. Not only were
we involved in this for over 3 years, we were leaders of an
online ministry and did all of what we did from a heart of
honestly wanting to seek more of God. We were "Sacred Namers"
et al. I appreciate your research for you are correct in much
of your discernment.
This movement is extremely
dangerous. After stumbling out of what felt like a stupor, I
am keenly aware that not only were we in error, we may have
led many astray who are now still so very lost within.
This movement cannot and will
not "reconcile" any Jew and Gentile ever. Those who reject
Jesus as Messiah HATE and I mean HATE Christianity and all it
stands for. Putting on a kippa, tzitz, prayer shawls and
reciting the siddur and all the other trappings of tradition
disgust observant Jews. They do not see those still believing
in Messiah as their friends and become more irate if you try
to look like them. They feel you have an agenda to win them
to Christianity. In the end, you feel lost and isolated.
I have seen many deny Jesus
(they use Yeshua but for the fact that it has connection with
that movement, I have chosen to return to the Name of Jesus -
the Name in which I was saved), and eventually convert to
Judaism altogether. There is always someone willing to
explain to you why you desire to look Jewish - they reason
that it must be because God wants you to convert.
I have also been party to the
denial of the Greek NT. Oh it sounds so plausible - even
makes sense their arguments. But in the end, I was left with
no foundation to stand on. Oh sure, I could have gone onto
"deeper" things like Kabbala but when all the damage was done,
I wondered if the Bible was inspired at all. What do you do
with a faith that is founded on the inspired Word if the Word
suddenly becomes open for question? This place I was in was
the darkest of all places I have ever been. All through my
life, Jesus was there, since I was a little girl. Now I
didn't know what to believe or even IF I believed anything.
One day I cried out to God and
asked Him to show me that Jesus was really His Son if it were
true. I cannot detail for you the things that had been across
my computer screen till this point but I can say that I was
about as unsure as anyone could be about Jesus. Over a few
months a longing built within me and I did the one thing I
said I would never do, I went back to church.
I am going on to read the
second part of this article and want to say may God bless you
in all you do for His truth.
In Christ Jesus,

My
Response in Part>
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences, and I am glad
the articles are of help to you..
I am thrilled that God has called you back to Himself, and
what you have shared has become an all to common occurrence. One
former member of the messianic movement described it as losing
their mooring in Christ, and had to return to a Christian Bible
School to reclaim their direction. A Jewish Christian recently
stated, that he sees the movement as neither Christian or
Jewish, and a terrible deception.
You said, "This movement cannot and will not "reconcile" any
Jew and Gentile ever". That is because Jesus already reconciled
them/us. One cannot do what is already done by Him.
Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes
were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath
broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of
commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself
of twain one new man, so making peace;
16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by
the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and
to them that were nigh.
18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the
Father.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but
fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and
prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto
an holy temple in the Lord:
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of
God through the Spirit.
You said, " I will be as brief as I can for the sake of time
and your sanity." Part of what I do in this website is to be
available to people....
Jude 21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the
mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. 22 And of
some have compassion, making a difference:
23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire;
hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
I am not am apologist for the church, as there is much error
residing under the canopy of 'christian.' I view myself as a
proponent of Biblical truth, who uses the Scriptures as my
plumbline. I hope that you are growing in grace and knowledge of
our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
The Scriptures warn of those who enter into false teachings
in 2 Cor. 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus,
whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit,
which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not
accepted, ye might well bear with him.
As hated as I and my site are within the 'roots' community,
many while despising it will read articles to try and find
arguments against it. The Word of God does not return void.
Praise God! And there are many who really desire the truth just
as you have been seeking. And God is faithful. He knows the
hearts.
Every trial we go through is so we come out as gold, and all
that you have gone through is for a very specific purpose. I
don't believe your struggles and search for truth have been in
vain.
Blessings to you and yours
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord,
and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high
places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may
be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to
stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,
and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of
peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be
able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the
Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the
Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and
supplication for all saints;
