Welcome to Vicky Dillen's Seek God Website.
Seek
God web
site is provided for those who believe in God or want to know
more about Him. It is also for those who believe that each
must enter into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and
that eternal salvation is found in none other than
Him. It
is to help individuals focus on the Word of God, rather than
on opinion or people. It is very much a ministry for women,
and I enjoy the correspondence with the many, especially
women, who write and share their struggles and growth. Psalm
119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
We
fully believe each and every person is free to believe what they
wish. Everyone in essence makes a choice about their religious
beliefs and spiritual condition. As
brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, we are all called to use
discernment and edify one another. Over the years I have
evaluated various leaders and their
teachings to the Word of God and have felt it would
be helpful to share those evaluations and research,
particularly for resource purposes for those who don't have
the time to thoroughly check into things themselves. I tend to
compile information and then attempt to apply the Word of God. I
am not a professional journalist and claim no credentials,
other than being a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ and a Berean
as described as an example in Acts 17:11-12 posted above.
Hebrews 5:13 For every one that useth milk is
unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14
But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even
those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to
discern both good and evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 Wherefore comfort yourselves
together, and edify one another, even as also ye
do.

We love
God and His Word and all that is encompassed in it, from
Genesis to Revelation. The articles that have been written are
perhaps a small reflection of what we believe. We hold to the
Truth in God's Word as our source.

Many are
unclear in their understanding of what the Biblical
requirement of 'reproving' things means, nor the use of
discernment each is required to exercise. As noted above,
Hebrews 5:13,14 speaks of using the Word of God to
discern between good and evil because of knowing and
utilizing the Word of God for that discernment. All who
belong to Christ are called to exercise these scriptures
and practices.
The term
'discern' explains much in what we are to do. From Strong's
Concordance: <discern > 1253. diakrisiv diakrisis,
dee-ak'-ree-sis from 1252; judicial estimation:--discern(-ing),
disputation.
See Greek 1252 (diakrino)
Diakrino,
which also means to discern, was used by Jesus many times in the
Gospels, and throughout the New Testament, and in part means
>1252. diakrinw diakrino,>"from 1223 and 2919; to separate
thoroughly, i.e. (literally and reflexively) to withdraw from,
or (by implication) oppose; figuratively, to discriminate..."
Judicial
estimation is 'expressing careful judgment', 'making fine
distinctions' and using discernment which comes from studying
and applying the Word of God, which is the Sword of the Spirit.

Reprove:
"...find fault with; blame...reprove, rebuke=criticize or
blame someone for a fault. Reprove suggests expressing
disapproval or blame directly to the person at fault...with
the purpose or hope of correcting the fault..."
[Dictionary of Canadian English]
We're to have 'no fellowship with the unfruitful works of
darkness.'
From Strong's
>fellowship <sugkoinoneo> "4790. sugkoinwnew sugkoinoneo,
soong-koy-no-neh'-o from 4862 and 2841; to share
in company with, i.e. co-participate in:--communicate (have
fellowship) with, be partaker of."
Greek 4862
(sun) ...a primary preposition denoting union; with or together
(but much closer than 3326 or 3844), i.e. by association,
companionship, process, resemblance, possession,
instrumentality, addition, etc.:--beside, with..."
Greek 2841 (koinoneo) ...from 2844; to share with others
(objectively or subjectively):--communicate, distribute, be
partaker."
From Strong's
>unfruitful <akarpos>175. akarpov akarpos, ak'-ar-pos from 1 (as
a negative particle) and 2590; barren (literally or
figuratively):--without fruit, unfruitful
From Strong's
>darkness <skotos>4655. skotov skotos, skot'-os from the base of
4639; shadiness, i.e. obscurity (literally or
figuratively):--darkness.
Strong's
Concordance states this in reference to Ephesians 5:11 use of
'reprove' >1651. elegcw elegcho, el-eng'-kho of uncertain
affinity; to confute, admonish:--convict, convince, tell a
fault, rebuke, reprove.

Jesus said that "offences
must come" in Luke 17:1, Matthew 18:6-7 and Mark 9:42;
and it was a warning to those who committed the snare,
as well as to those who would follow Him, to make sure
that what they believe can stand the test of Scripture.
From Strong's >offences <skandalon >4625.
skandalon skandalon, skan'-dal-on ("scandal;" probably from a
derivative of 2578; a trap-stick (bent sapling), i.e. snare
(figuratively, cause of displeasure or sin):--occasion to fall
(of stumbling), offence, thing that offends, stumblingblock.
1Co 11:19; Mt 18:7; Lu 2:35;
17:1; Ac 20:30; 1Ti 4:1; 2Pe 2:1-2; 1Jo 2:19 all speak and warn
of these things.

If
ungodly behavior and wicked or false doctrine is being
practiced by those claiming to be of Christ, it should be exposed and reproved--that's
Biblical. As is using Biblical discernment.
Ephesians
5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
1
Thessalonians 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

When
I research individuals or organizations it is not at all
necessary to think that I am saying they are not of God.
In many cases the information is merely documentary in
nature, providing who or what an organization is or believes, or
their history, so the reader can further delve into that if they
wish to involve themselves with that person or organization. In
other words, mention of someone, an organization, or movement,
does not mean to imply that there are negative or perceived
problem issues unless specifically addressed as such.
While some information is historical in nature, the
presentation of such research is believed to be accurate at the
time of writing, and once posted, is not subject to updates in
the event
the subject may have changed beliefs or activities since the
article(s) were posted.
The researched sources
referenced are footnoted in every article
or documented, with many sourced quotes from
the people or institutions or beliefs being evaluated.

Readers are encouraged to research and evaluate according to the
facts and the Word of God. While some information is in-depth,
it is highly unlikely that all information on that topic is
presented. Therefore it behooves each individual to consider
doing their own research and analysis. It should be noted that
at times after posting documentation on a particular subject or
individual, the stated quoted source is removed or changed on the
internet, to eliminate it as a source or to upgrade the webpage
or for some other reason. Therefore, please be aware, that it
may be difficult to confirm some sources of documentation,
although I generally hardcopy or archive my source information
due to those facts.
Many names are/were new to me and were researched merely as the
name was brought forward in other research, or as some have
requested information. The issue is evaluating using the Word of
God, or expressing our opinion or beliefs on our understanding
of that and is--try the spirits, test the fruit, etc...The
issue is whether the item evaluated stands the test of
Scripture, which is given by God for that purpose. Is
the item a snare for us, in direct disobedience or a deliberate
deception? Is the theology grounded in the Word of God
or is it man made thinking or worldly, or simply bad
judgment? Is it sound?
Individuals may become part of or support groups that appear overtly "Christian"
or "Biblical" or "Messianic" which is
used as a cover to deceive the gullible. They have the
"form of godliness" and are somewhat
"ministers of righteousness", but deny the
true power thereof by a carefully contrived doctrine
which assiduously avoids the Scriptures which would
expose their works as evil. Many encourage Believers to join and support their
organizations through many monetary contributions
which makes "merchandise of the saints."

Since
many Believers are being pulled into the various
organizations and the range of agendas
described in the articles, it behooves us to be
Biblically obedient and to listen to the warnings
throughout the New Testament. Specifically:
2 Timothy
3:13-14 "But evil men and seducers shall
wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
But continue thou in the things which thou hast
learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou
hast learned them"
While
Biblically obedient Believers would not wish to be joined
with many individuals and groups linked with the many "Christian" ventures, others would suggest the end
justifies the means. However, uniting in a spiritual venture with not
only non-Believers, that is, those who reject Jesus Christ as
Lord and Savior, but those who are openly speaking against Him
does not stand the test of Scripture. Again, the Scriptures
command and ask,
2 Corinthians 6:14-15 "Be ye not
unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship
hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion
hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with
Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an
infidel?"

It's
not about being "Christian." It's about being
Biblically obedient and whether what is being done
abides by what God has called us to in Christ. Many
claim to be Believers but we are told about 'men crept
in unawares", to make our election sure, to
follow after sound doctrine, etc...
Philippians
1:6 "Being
confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good
work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus
Christ,"
God
said we are not to be unequally yoked, to have no
fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but
rather reprove them; bad company corrupts, a
little leaven leavens the whole lump. Our purpose in
serving Christ is to be a light--our face may be the
only representative of Christ a person sees. To reprove
something is to show the error with the hope that people
will see the snare and avoid it or similar...and we
cannot compromise and be involved in things that bring
dishonor to Christ, and which has a purpose that is not in keeping
with claimed Biblical obedience.

The
role we play in interaction with non-Believers is as a
representative of Christ, and therefore, everything we
do must be evaluated by the Biblical parameter. I
firmly believe there are many Believers in various
groups who have been snared into that issue because
of not realizing what it is about and who all are
involved. There are many caught and wrongly believing
that the world can be reconstructed to some godly level.
God said things are going to get like in the days of
Noah, and worse than even Sodom and Gomorrah--hardly a
prescription for a godly nation to arise--which again
goes against too many Scriptures.
Those in the "christian
arena" can be the same as those in the non-christian
arena. That is why I started focusing my research on
those issues. The result is found in the 300 plus articles on my website.
Individuals are not required to read
them. Readers are not required to agree with them. But
it's what I have seen, it's what I have tested to
Scripture and it's what I believe in many cases, reveals many snares.
That research and discussion, I sincerely hope, will cause some to start
evaluating all to the Word of God.

Some might suggest that it's wrong to air
"Christian" dirty laundry in public. God did
it all the time in the Scriptures, always comparing
righteousness with unrighteousness, obedience with
disobedience.
Do people really believe that
non-Believers don't see the errors, don't see the hypocrisies,
don't see the adultery, the lies, which are often
reported on in the secular press....and they need to
know that those things are not of God and not what
living for Jesus Christ is about. They need to know that
Biblically those things are not what we are called to.
We are to have our very purposes brought into obedience
to Christ.
2
Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
7 Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's.
It's occasionally
suggested that I am making judgments on people or I draw a
pretty narrow line. Do I? Or did Christ when He said the
way was narrow and few there be that find it. We are called to discern
between good and evil by applying the Scriptures. Heb 5:13-14
We are called to try the
spirits. 1 John 4:1 We are
called to prove all things and prove what is acceptable to the
Lord. We are told we will know false
teachers by their fruit--and that comes from applying the Word
of God to their claims. We are
warned about deceptions,
doctrines of demons, false teachers
and false prophets, unsound doctrine, heresies and many other things and
we are called to reprove the fruitless deeds of darkness. That
means making decisions about our beliefs and understandings based on the Word of God.
We don't
judge the hearts, nor could we. God does. But we are required to try the
spirits and test the fruit...and that is what this web
site is about.
As far as how narrow is the path?...as I
had been trying to teach a young woman very dear to me,
that walking the path of righteousness is not deviating
from walking straight ahead. Her conclusion, shared with
me one day, was that she realized that a step left or
right takes one off the path Christ calls us to.
Proverbs
4:25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
Psalm 27:11 Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
Proverbs
4:14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
...18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

My husbands statement about the website and information: "You

ACTS
17:11-12 "11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few."

My husband and I have belonged to
Jesus Christ for over thirty years. I came from an ungodly
home where my father was an alcoholic, and fighting and fear
were the order of the day. Our family started going to an
evangelical church after my parents were separated and
rejoined and shortly thereafter I accepted Jesus Christ as my
Savior and Lord. From that moment, I shared Christ, although
there's been many ups and downs, until I understood what the
Apostle Paul
meant when he said, " For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."
That was a turning point on changing the ups and downs to a
steadfast walk.
It is
impossible to write all the thoughts we hold dear when we
think of our relationship with God. We love Him and His Word.
We are so thankful that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus
Christ, to die on the cross for our sins, and that by
Believing Him we will spend eternity with Him.
Perhaps
the easiest is to briefly share some of the Scriptures that we
treasure, and uphold as truth and which has become a part of
our lives.
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith."
Romans 1:16-17
"And
if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this
day whom ye will serve...but as for me and my house, we will
serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15
"I
will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and fortress: my God;
in Him will I trust" Psalm 91:2
"With
my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from
thy commandments. Thy Word have I hid in mine heart that I
might not sin against thee. Blessed art thou, O Lord, teach
me thy statutes."
Psalm
119:10-12

We
believe...
That in
order to be saved for eternity, each person must enter into a
personal relationship with Jesus Christ, who is God come in
the flesh:
"...Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said,
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved
and thy house."
Acts
16:30b-31
For God so loved the world that He gave
His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him
should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent
not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that
the world through Him might be saved. He
that believeth on Him is not condemned: but He that
believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not
believed in the name of the only begotten Son of
God."
John
3:16-18
"Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the
Father: but he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father
also."
1 John
2:23

We
Believe...
That there is no other way to eternal salvation, other
than through Jesus Christ and that it is a free gift by God's grace and love.
We are called to believe and repent, or turn from our sins:
Jesus
saith unto him, "I am the way, the truth and the life: no
man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
John
14:6
"Neither is there salvation in any other name under
heaven given among men, whereby we must be
saved."
Acts
4:12
"And
this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life,
and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life;
and he that hath not the Son of God hath not
life."
1
John 5:11,12
"For
there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for
the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall
be saved."
Romans 10:12-13

We
Believe...
In the
inerrant Word of God:
"All
scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable
for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction
in righteousness."
2
Timothy 3:16

We
Believe...
That the Bible is clear in saying that if we love our
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we will obey all His
commandments, not just some of them and that our lives will
show a change, as "all things become new":
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are
become new.
2
Corinthians 5:17
"He
that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that
loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my
Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to
him."
John
14:21
"Ye
are my friends if ye do whatsoever I command you."
John
15:14
"And
being made perfect, He became the author of eternal
salvation unto all them that obey Him."
Hebrews 5:9
"If we
say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is
not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just
to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make
Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
1 John
1:8-10
"My
little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin
not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the
Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And He is the
propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also
for the sins of the whole world.
"And
hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep His
commandments. He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His
commandments, is a liar and the truth is not in
Him."
"But
whoso keepeth His word, in him verily is the love of God
perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him."
"He
that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk,
even as He walked."
I John
2:1-6

We
Believe...
That
Christ will return, and we are to remain faithful to Him and
endure to the end, whenever He chooses that to be.
" Let
this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be
equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and
took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the
likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man,
he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the
death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly
exalted him, and given him a name which is above every
name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of
things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the
earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus
Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
Philippians 2:5-11

"
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the
sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and
the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the
heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the
sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the
tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man
coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great
glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of
a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the
four winds, from one end of heaven to the
other."
