Jacob and Jews For Jesus

In the article about the ecumenical root of the Messianic movement, Jews For Jesus was shown to play an integral part. According to Jacob Prasch's testimony, while being involved in drugs and being saved in the company of cults, he stabilized when under the teaching of Jews For Jesus.

"..., I took LSD sacramentally, as a way to become involved with the metaphysical world. I used psychedelic drugs extensively. And I believed that the occult had to be investigated scientifically...I began experimenting with drugs, a process which soon graduated into an extensive research project. But I would not believe what I could not prove... I met some Jesus People, hippies who had gotten saved. ...I got saved through a crazy group called The Children of God. Then I got involved with some other crazy groups. I was a very unstable Christian in the first few years, largely because of these unstable groups I was in, virtually all of which became cults.

Finally, when I became involved with Jews for Jesus at a later point, I stabilised. But that is another story. I met these Jesus freaks and they began showing me things in the Bible..." 11

Jacob Prasch hotlinks to Jews for Jesus, which fully and openly supports MJAA and the endorsement is reciprocated. Since his testimony was posted on the revamped site of Moriel, (Links Page) we believe that Jacob's support of Jews for Jesus has not changed, nor his stated intention to establish Messianic congregations. (About Us). Jacob states he is against the ecumenical movement, yet has consistently been part of it.

In a critical review, William Greene wrote, "...[Jew's for Jesus'] tactics are headstrong (sometimes confrontational) and evangelistic in nature; they are most famous for their "campaigns," during which they go out on the streets of major cities such as New York and distribute millions of "broadsides" (folded-over humorous tracts presenting the gospel in a Jewish manner). They also work in airports; in 1987, they won a unanimous Supreme Court decision protecting their First Amendment rights to distribute literature in government-run airports (the case was argued for JFJ by Jay Sekulow [CNP], who now heads the American Center for Law and Justice [ACLJ] in Virginia Beach, Virginia). [William Greene, Ascendance of Messianic Judaism 12b]

It should be noted that Jews for Jesus thankfully makes no apology for their Christian stance and clear presentation of Christ. They have also stood against the various errors found within the Messianic and Hebrew Roots movements. In fact, many in those movements reject Jews for Jesus for that reason. If there is concern at all, it is for the ecumenical joining of these various groups, with those who are against Christ.

Jews For Jesus is strongly linked 12c with ecumenical groups such as the Lausanne Consultation on Jewish Evangelism (LCJE).12d  Tuvya Zaretsky is chairman of the LCJE and was in The Liberated Wailing Wall, a musical team for Jews for Jesus. Mr. Zaretsky was with Moishe Rosen when Jews for Jesus was originally incorporated as Hineni Ministries. They were the Los Angeles branch of the American Board of Missions to the Jews (ABMJ). The ABMJ became Chosen People Ministries a few years ago.

The conference of the Lausanne group held in Atlanta, Georgia (USA), the 13-15 of March 2000 was called LCJE-NA 2000 Conference. 12e It lists one of the "facilitators" as  "Tuvya Zaretsky, President of LCJE International, Jews for Jesus, Los Angeles, CA".

Susan Perlman, on the Board and staff of Jews for Jesus, was moderator of a panel discussion while, Dr. Louis Goldberg, of Jews for Jesus, and Dr. Mitch Glaser of Chosen People Ministries, were speakers. Dr. Glaser’s teachings are promoted on Arnold Fruchtenbaum's page under "Ariel Friends" in the book catalog section. Another speaker at LCJE also found on Ariel Friends listing is Dr. Barry Leventhal.

Reviewing Jews for Jesus Newsletters from the 1970’s to early 80’s we were surprised to find the sale of T-shirts in the “Materials to Enjoy and Employ” with the words, “Jesus Made me Kosher,” and “Goyim for Jesus.”  Kosher can mean the broad statement of being acceptable to God, and in this case was a message to non-believing Jews that Jesus made them acceptable to God. However, for many in the Messianic or Hebrew Roots movements, those who are suggesting that Jesus makes someone Kosher is a false premise. Many Messianics are in fact becoming kosher in what they eat and do so according to Jewish tradition, not Biblical obedience.

Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 4:3-6 "...and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. "

Colossians 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Regarding being Biblically "kosher." Paul also stated that while all things are clean that are blessed by God,  no soul is worth losing, over meat. For those who believe eating or not eating certain meat is an issue and  the unclean/clean issues, the Apostle Paul said to not hinder the gospel of Jesus Christ over that.  That needs to be the reason if one chooses to be Biblically kosher. It's about Biblical obedience and putting others first.

Romans 14:14  I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
15  But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.
16  Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
17  For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
18  For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
19  Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
20  For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.
21  It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

15:1  We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
2  Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

1 Corinthians 8:8  But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.
9  But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak... 12  But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
13  Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.

While the ads for the T-shirts are for witnessing to Jewish people—there is no explanation provided as to what non-believing Jews believe the derogatory word “goyim,“ or “goi” means to them.  Part of what goyim means and has meant in the Talmud is that it is a term, “mostly applied to non-Jews, or idolators... Jewish books which treat of Idolatry, worshippers of idols are often called by this single word Goi.” 12 See: Part III…The Talmud and Jesus Christ

If Mr. Prasch and other ministries ring true about being against ecumenicism, why do we find Jacob, alongside those involved in the ecumenical ‘Lausanne’ and the LCJE? Ariel and Chosen People are listed foremost on Jacob Prasch’s endorsed Links followed by Jews For Jesus.

Ariel & The Lausanne Consultation on Jewish Evangelism

Mr. Prasch declared Arnold Fruchtenbaum to be a genuine messianic Bible teacher.

“…Genuine messianic bible teachers explaining the original Jewish context of the scriptures like Arnold Fruchtenbaum and Dwight Pryor must contend with the competition from proven heretics like Jospeph B. Goode and Peter Michas (who deny the Triunity of The God Head as One God in Three Persons)…”  13

For More on Marvin Wilson, David Bivin, Walter Riggans and Dwight Pryor, etc., and the Jerusalem School of Synoptic Research connections, which views Jesus as a sage, See: MJAA Inroads of The Hebrew Roots "Fringe"; Mainstreaming The "Fringe"; MJAA Executives & The Hebrew Roots " Fringe" ; Jacob Prasch & The Jerusalem School of Synoptic Research For Peter Michas See: HR

Like Moishe Rosen, Arnold Fruchtenbaum started with the ABMJ and branched out into his own organization of Ariel. From “OUR ROOTS  it is stated  “…he worked first with the American Board of Missions to the Jews (now Chosen People Ministries) and, then, The Christian Jew Foundation.”

Noteworthy is the fact that Ariel representatives are speaking at many Calvary Chapels as seen on their Itinerary and also were to attend the LCJE-NA 2000 Conference. 13b

Miles J. Stanford’s excellent article on “Messianic Judaism” is a reasoned response to Arnold Fruchtenbaum’s book, Hebrew Christianity, which identifies as well  the errors of the Charismatic and Messianic movements.

"When the doctrinal divisions of the Word of truth are taken for granted, as with most dispensationalists today, a theological vacuum occurs. Another, more serious, cause of this vacuum is a result of efforts to blur, if not obliterate, the doctrinal distinction between Israel and the Church, Law and Grace.

"Dispensational vacuum is naturally filled on the left by the non-dispensational Charismatic element, and on the right by the  anti-dispensational Covenant movement.

"Due to its lack of dispensational protection, the Messianic Jew movement in the States has fallen prey to both of these detrimental factors--tongues, and law. The entire movement is based upon the latter--the legal aspect of the Word. The charismatic integration is mainly due to the Jews for Jesus influence." 13c

Because of this common denominator of nondispensational error, it is no surprise that the Messianic Movement is deeply involved with the World Ecumenical Movement and many other deceptions. Sincere believers are being snared because of not having the Biblical foundations to discern what is being pushed forward. It should be noted that many do not realize the ecumenical goals of the various groups, but rather join because for many, there is strength in numbers, but many also assume that what they are joining with is Biblically sound, because other 'Believers' are involved.

Rood & The MJAA; MJAA Inroads of The Hebrew Roots "Fringe"; Mainstreaming The "Fringe"; MJAA Executives & The Hebrew Roots " Fringe"; Toward Jerusalem Council II; The Ecumenical Toward Jerusalem Council II ; PK, MJAA, UMJC & Toward Jerusalem Council II

Please note specifically the Toward Jerusalem Council II sections.

Recalling our previous articles, Joint Prophecies of Rick Joyner & Rabbi Cohen at Messiah'99, and Stephen Strang at Messiah'99, we are reminded that they were invited speakers for the conference sponsored by  The Messianic Jewish Alliance of America (MJAA). The  Messiah'99 Conference was no small event displaying all the symbolism discussed in the Hebrew Roots series in evidence, and could not have gone unnoticed, as Mr. Prasch also linked to the Messianic Jewish Alliance of Australia until only a few months prior to the conference.

Dr. Randall Price has the para-church organization, World of the Bible Ministries, Inc, 13d whose description and mission is: " [WBM]...is an non-profit Christian organization that functions as a ministry resource to local churches, Christian organizations, and the general public...by producing products and providing instruction for proper biblical interpretation, prophetic awareness, and spiritual growth. Our goal is to provide service to the Christian community by clarifying biblical truth through an increased understanding of the original context of the Bible...."

The ministry branches into Productions, Seminars and Tours. "Dr. J. Randall Price serves as our Director and traveling representative. He is a Th.M. graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary and holds a Ph.D. in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. He has done graduate study at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem..."

The phrase "original context of the Bible" is the phraseology used by promoters of the "Fourth wave" or Hebrew Roots Movement. It is no different than the phrase, "getting back to our Jewish or Hebrew roots." The intent is that we're missing the "true" meaning of the Scriptures without their scholarly "new/old" interpretation.

However, it is the Holy Spirit that leads us into all truth, and neither He, nor the Bible have changed in their intent and meaning. See: John 14:26 and 1 John 2: 20-21,26-27: "But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth."

"These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him."

WBM Board of Directors in 2000 included: Rev. Thomas W. Jenkins-Trustee; Beverlee S. Price-Trustee
Rev. Steven P. Sullivan- Board Member;  Richard M. Short, Jr.-Acct.; Dr. G. Harry Leafe - Board Member

Their Board of Reference includes: Dr. John Walvoord-Chancellor, Dallas Theological Seminary
Dr. H. Willmington- Vice President, Liberty University
Dr. John Ankerberg [CNP]- The John Ankerberg Show
Dr. Tim LaHaye [CNP]- President, Family Life Seminars
Dr. Arnold Fructenbaum- Executive Director, Ariel Ministries
Dr. Dave Breese [CNP]- Christian Destiny, Hillsboro, Kansas

Knowing the involvement of the above people in the ecumenical movement and CNP, which unites evangelicals, catholics, mormons, moonies, kkk, nazi's and so on, does it not seem strange to see involvement of Arnold Fruchtenbaum with these people?

From two separate e-mailings by Peter Michas and Uri Marcus, the information was circulated that Musalaha, “an organization in Bethlehem (which is Palestinian controlled)” has “Arnold Fruchtenbaum (Ariel) and Susan Perlman (Jews for Jesus) as advisors on the board.” According to them, Musalaha means "Christian Muslim", although Musalaha actually means reconciliation in Arabic. Its leader, Salim Munayer is reportedly "a proponent of Palestine, and academic dean at the Bethlehem Bible College, an Arab evangelical Bible school." 14

However, Arnold Fruchtenbaum informed an associate that, "... I do not sit on either the Board of Directors or Board of Advisors of Musalaha. I have been a guest speaker there (as I have been at many other places), and I have written articles (two, I believe) for the periodical, just as I write articles for many other periodicals. But I have no actual formal relationship with Musalaha and have certainly never been on their Board of Advisors. They have never asked me for my advice about anything and, if they had, I would  advise them all to become pro-Israel Dispensationalists. My only involvement with them so far has been as a guest speaker and a guest writer. I suspect that is where the confusion has set in..." 15

World Vision and Embrace Israel Ministries and other Reconciliation groups 15b, claim that Musalaha is based in Jerusalem, not Bethlehem, with goals of  reconciliation between Arab and Jewish Believers.16  This incentive of reconciliation between ‘Arab and Jew’ believers is actually found listed in the goals of “The Lausanne Consultation on Jewish Evangelism (LCJE)”

The work for reconciliation between non-believers is a tough goal and an admirable one. However, what many people fail to recall is that there is no reconciliation needed between true believers— regardless of cultural background. Nor are there any excuses provided in the Scriptures for hatred towards others, cultural, ethnic or otherwise. 1 John 2: 9-11

“He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.”

Jacob Prasch states that:

“Moriel has warned that the ecumenical movement, charismania and hyper pentecostalism, liberal theology, and word-faith deception are all preludes leading up to and helping set the stage for this mass backsliding” 17

AND

"People look to leaders for clear, unmixed signals. Instead today they are getting mixed signals only compounding the confusion."

If the warnings are real, how come Jacob Prasch is immersed with people or groups who are part of the ecumenical movement, knowingly or otherwise? In fact, as shown in the Update: Jacob Prasch & Moriel Revisited, Jacob has recently removed himself from ecumenical organizations he initially either denied being a part of, or refused to answer questions concerning his involvement in said ecumenical organizations.  Why would "Discernment" or 'Christian' ministries align with such as these? Indeed, how can two walk together except they be agreed?

We shall see whether Jacob Prasch is a man of his published word. Jacob Prasch has declared:

“… I myself turned down TV programs offered to me in both America and Britain because I would not associate with heresy…. The day I compromise biblical truth to get a platform is the day there is no further point in me even having a platform as far as God is concerned.” 18

If someone is proven Biblically false --they are still false, no matter whom they rub elbows with and call "friend." If someone is a false teacher or false prophet we are under no circumstances to remain aligned with or under their influence. We are certainly not to promote them or their supporters as good or having Discernment and worthy of our support.

2 Thessalonians 3:6 " Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the traditions which he received of us."

Pastor Tom Watson stated Charles Spurgeon was right when he said,

“That I might not stultify my testimony, I have cut myself clear of those who err from the faith, and even from those who associate with them"

and

"Neither when we have chosen our way can we keep company with those who go the other way. There must come with the decision for truth a corresponding protest against error." 19

Galatians 5:7-9

"Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump."
