First, Monte Judah is a Two House/Ephraim proponent; views Ern Baxter of the shepherding movement to be sound, teaches kabbalah, etc. He currently promotes Eddie Chumney, Rico Cortes, Richard Rives and others. He is reportedly a Baptist minister, and has officiated various events as Pastor Monte Judah,[ Elder Monte Judah"(1998); "Pastor Monte Judah (2000)"], although where and when he became a Baptist minister is unclear. And also,  "And when the 1993 Mideast peace pact was signed, radio evangelist Monte Judah of Norman, Oklahoma..." 1a

Monte Judah resided in San Diego, California in the 70's and early 80's, but was in Colorado by at least 1986. And then moved to Moore and Norman, Oklahoma. Raised a Gentile, he apparently discovered his "roots" in 1995 and with the claim of being a "Hebrew", left a secular job to go into full time ministry, starting Lion and Lamb Ministries in Oklahoma at that time, 1995. It should be noted that claiming to be a "Hebrew" is part of Two House beliefs, and does not necessarily mean that person is Jewish by heritage. Most involved in Two House are in fact Gentiles. By 1997 Monte had started a Messianic congregation. So the timing of being a Baptist minister prior to and during his Messianic/Two House ventures is a bit fuzzy.

Monte Judah stated that in 1995, Jesus appeared to him while he was in the shower and told him that the first thing he should do is make anointing oil for his ministry. Jesus is apparently shorter than Monte. From the Lion and Lamb Ministries newsletter, Yavoh, April, 2002:

"..Seven years ago, Lion and Lamb Ministries began...I remember praying in early 1995 just as the ministry was beginning. I was in the shower. I don’t sing in the shower; I pray. I asked the Lord what was the first thing that He wanted Lion and Lamb Ministries to accomplish. It was a little startling, but the Lord answered me immediately and I sensed His presence just behind me and off my left shoulder. In my spirit, I heard Him say, "I told you to make anointing oil." Two things struck me immediately. The Lord is just slightly less than my height and I was taken back with a kind of embarrassment for not sensing His leading in making anointing oil....

I put the bottles individually in small plastic bags with a folded instruction sheet detailing the five reasons to anoint and the methods for anointing. There were hundreds of these bottles.

It was then that I asked the Lord why He had instructed me to make anointing oil. His answer was just as sudden as in the shower. "This ministry will continue until I anoint the most Holy Place in the kingdom." These words have sustained me a number of times. I don’t get to quit until the Lord says it is time to quit. He also added, "There is a time coming when the only thing left to encourage believers in the great tribulation is to anoint them with the oil of gladness..." 1

Jesus warned: Mar 13:21 And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not: 22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. 23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things. 24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, 25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. 26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

All these verses speak of the coming appearance of Christ. And it is not in Monte Judah's shower or any other place people claim Christ has appeared to them. It is in fact with the promise that when He returns---it will not be for a private viewing or interaction in a shower or anywhere else. Mat 24:30, Mat 25:31; Mar 13:26; Luk 21:27; Joh 14:3; Acts 1:11, 1Th 1:10; 1Th 4:16; 2Th1:7-10; Rev 1:7

Regarding Ern Baxter, and Monte Judah's support of him, from the book, Church in the Wilderness:

"...The Kansas City Prophets and the Kingdom Now prophets, such as Paul Cain and Ern Baxter (Who Monte Judah thinks is right on) all believe that a Joel’s company of prophets and apostles will take over in Jesus name. Many are linked the Manifest Sons of God heresy. Monte Judah is perhaps the most deceptive false prophet I have seen...It is really sad, however, that the "spirit" that gave him his revelations that Prince Charles of Wales is the antichrist and that the altar will be set up, the daily sacrifice of animals and the stopping of that sacrifice will all take place before March 1997. ...He is convinced that the Lord told him that the last seven years of history began with the Israeli peace treaty signed in Washington, D.C. in September 1993 with Rabin and Arafat....several things disturb us about Monte Judah. First, he is linked with Ern Baxter, a Kingdom Now prophet. He also has several strange ideas such as the fact that all men will be destroyed when Christ returns and it is us, in our resurrected bodies that will procreate and have children. ...The bible talks of some false prophets who simply speak "presumptuously" and end up prophesying events that do not come true. They are deluded by the visions and dreams of their own mind. ...Anyone who sets a date for the coming of Christ or the revelation of the antichrist, will be deceived and shamed. Jesus said that no man will know the hour of His return. The secret pride of being a "prophet" - especially with a unique message and predictions is very heady and deceptive. ...We have a more sure word of prophecy - the Word of God. We have a more sure spiritual guide - the Holy Spirit within us. He will reveal to us what we need to know. I believe that He wants to guide us day by day and that He is working to make us holy rather that to inform us what is the number of the beast...." 2

Monte Judah was part of the 'so-called arbitration panel during Michael Rood's organizations breakup and reinventing of itself. From A Real Michael Rood Awakening Concerning Alleged Torah Observant Actions:

"...The arbitration panel of "biblical judges" was comprised of self admitted false prophet Monte Judah and Phil Vellekamp of Lion and Lamb Ministries, Neal Brenner of Beit Emet Ministries as chairman and chief spokesman,  Allen Dodge of Beit Emet Ministries, and Todd Bennett. Todd Bennett resigned from the committee in October citing conflict of interest...."

The acronym for the four levels of study Monte Judah was teaching, is called PaRDeS and is based in kabbalistic teaching.

Many are teaching that one must also utilize "PaRDes as a tool for Torah study," with the qualifier, "that this would be within normative rabbinic Judaism (and should be in ours), not necessarily just Kaballah, that is why the rule for being 40 years of age and extensively schooled in Torah was the original prerequisite for understanding Sod." and in order to understand the meaning of the Scriptures.

It needs to be understood that Pardes is an acronym for the understanding of Scriptures via kabbalistic means. It's noteworthy that an article published in the final print edition of the Jerusalem Perspective, written by David Bivin of the Jerusalem School of Synoptic Research (JSSR) and who is so popular within the Hebrew Roots movement, is not accepted by many within the Hebrew Roots or Messianic movements or Christians embracing these teachings, because of their not understanding or denying the source of kabbalah or Pardes:

 “... students of the Kabbalah speak of Pardes ...which is an acronym derived from the initial letter of each of the four terms (p-r-d-s)....According to the late Professor Gershom Scholem, pioneer researcher in the field of Kabbalah, Moses ben Shem Tov of Leon was the first known writer to mention the acronym Pardes. A book published in 1984 by David Bivin (Director of the JSSR) and Roy Blizzard has formed the basis of much Hebrew Roots' doctrine. The following excerpts from Understanding The Difficult Words Of Jesus represent the JSSR viewpoint on the lack of originality of the Greek New Testament:

"...Our reasons for writing this book are not only to show that the original gospel was communicated in the Hebrew language; but to show that the entire New Testament can only be understood from a Hebrew perspective. 2.

Monte Judah, a proven false prophet, continues in the vein of 'prophet,' as stated on his website,

Here we have the binding together of kabbalists, Two House, Lost tribes and British Israel teachings.

Elimination of The Book of Hebrews

**In the September/October 2005 and November, 2005 issues of Monte Judah's Lion and Lamb Ministries newsletter, Yavoh, he presented his teaching of the falsehood of the book of Hebrews, and why all should reject it and uphold the requirement to be under the Law of the Old Testament, thereby negating the New Covenant and being saved by grace through Jesus Christ. His statements bring into question the authority of the Word of God, not just with the Book of Hebrews, but as a whole. And please recall those who walk in step with Monte Judah, despite these beliefs.

"...I personally believe that the greater number of Churchmen have been mislead by something put into the New Testament – the book of Hebrews. Consider this verse from Hebrews...Bible scholars argued for centuries about the book of Hebrews, whether it should even be in the New Testament part of the Bible. Primary in this debate was the question of its authorship. Some said that the Apostle Paul. The book speaks of Timothy who worked with Paul at the very end. Others argue that the book was written in the second century by a Church leader (possibly Clement) in Italy trying to move Hebrew Christians to leave their Jewish ways.

...The Gospel of Thomas (even though he was an Apostle) was rejected because it failed to emphasize the deity of Yeshua as the Gospel of John and others do. However, they made an exception for the book of Hebrews. Apparently because of its opposition to the Law of Moses, which Jerome agreed with. There are contradictions and mistakes in the book of Hebrews that have Bible scholars scratching their heads to this day. Let me give you some quick examples.

The word “new” is a relative term and its use in the New Testament does not automatically mean that something there is “old” and done away with as Hebrew 8:13 says... Maybe the writer of Hebrews was confused. Maybe he forgot. Maybe he just didn’t make the best argument. ...I just find that when the writer of Hebrews references the Law of Moses and the previous covenants, he fails to speak with precision and accuracy as other New Testament writers do, especially the Apostle Paul...let’s get something straight before I am falsely accused of not believing in the New Testament or the New Covenant. I think that Churchmen, who base their “Covenant Theology” on the book of Hebrews, would be well advised to understand what else the Scriptures have to say about those former covenants, before locking in on the idea that the New has replaced the Old... 3

"It is time for me to lay my cards on the table for all to see. In this article I will be presenting issues and evidence about the paradigm churchmen have adopted through the ages to understand and explain the book of Hebrews. ... My argument is measured and not an open assault on the Bible.

...The paradigm that has been embraced is that the book of Hebrews is inspired and without error. It’s in the Holy Bible! It must be right. It has to be right. Or so the paradigm goes that has been taught by churchmen. But is the paradigm the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

...The paradigm of Hebrews is the basis for the organization of the Bible in the form of Old and New Testaments. The paradigm of Hebrews is also the greatest source for those in the faith to be opposed to the Torah. It is the root teaching for Covenant and Replacement Theology. It is the basis for the rejection of the entire temple/altar service in Jerusalem. Additionally, those outside the faith consider the book of Hebrews to be the best source material to discredit the entire New Testament due to the errors about the Law expressed in the book itself.

Why do we believe that the book of Hebrews is the authoritative Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and inerrant? It appears that the answer is primarily because it is already printed in the Bible, it speaks for the Messiah, and because of the Paradigm. As presently printed in our Bibles, the book of Hebrews in a side-by-side comparison does not accurately reflect the Law of Moses. It appears to misrepresent Hebrew definitions and concepts by willfully substituting Greek definitions and concepts...

What is our basis for Messianic brethren to call the Book of Hebrews the Word of God – Scripture? Should we simply defer to the previous decisions of the Catholic and Protestant Church Fathers? Should we defer to the present day majority opinion of the brethren because of the paradigm? ...

I am calling for a council of many Messianic leaders and teachers to convene and discuss this matter ...Has the book been tampered with? Is this really what the writer intended? ...we need to decide if we are going to bear the exhortation of this book. ... Is the leadership of the Messianic Movement mature enough to convene such a council ...

...soon, another altar will be erected on the temple mount in Jerusalem. It is prophesied to be. God will measure us with that altar (Rev 11:1). What will we say about that altar in that soon coming day? Will we reference Moses and Yeshua or the book of Hebrews? Churchmen are already on record about any altar in Jerusalem. They use the Paradigm of Hebrews. My question is directed to my fellow Messianic believers. ... "3a

According to one source, Monte Judah made an announcement September 9, 2005, that, "The book of Hebrews is written against every Messianic believer there is. If you're a Messianic believer, the book of Hebrews is intentionally your enemy and against you." ..."We've been bullied into this. This is false teaching. Passed off as the word of God."

"Quite honestly I asked the Lord---I said, Lord, please don't make me teach this' cuz I guarantee You that when I teach this I have got myself a pack of trouble..."

...September 6 "...I am in the process of addressing the whole question of the book of Hebrews...When you take a stronghold, or an entire wall set against, you must punch a couple of holes first (to set explosives). My comments are just a couple of holes at this point....future dialogue and discussion will open this thing up considerably...

...September 19..."We were there to hear Monte announce to the Messianic community and the world, via the world wide web...that he no longer believed that the Book of Hebrews should be considered Scripture..." 3b

It is also in his analysis overturning the truth of Hebrews, in the Paradigm of Hebrews, that we again see Monte Judah teaching the 'Renewed Covenant, instead of the promised New Covenant.

"...That is why God made each of these covenants, not as a replacements of the old one but as a renewal with enhancements....The Messiah came to fulfill the prophecies, to fill them full of meaning and example and enhancements. Therefore the Renewed Covenant in Yeshua was even better. When the Messiah returns to earth and establishes His Kingdom it will be – even better. But it won’t replace any previous covenants. ..." 3a

There are many in Hebrew Roots or Hebraic Roots and some who call themselves Messianics who believe that Jeremiah 31:31-32 means a renewed covenant, not a new covenant.

Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

 

In Jeremiah 31:31 the Hebrew clearly says brit (covenant) chadasha (new). If you were to ask any fluent Hebrew speaker, regardless of their religious beliefs, what chadasha means, they will agree it means "new". Further, the words following it say "lo k´brit ", not like the covenant , that I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand…"

New> H2319 חדשׁ châdâsh khaw-dawsh'  From H2318; new: - fresh, new thing.

Covenant >H1285  בּרית  b^{erîyth  ber-eeth'  From H1262 (in the sense of cutting (like H1254)); a compact (because made by passing between pieces of flesh): - confederacy, [con-]feder[-ate], covenant, league.}

This tells us that the prophecy that was being laid out by God through Jeremiah, was that it was going to be a new and different covenant to the one made when God took the Israelites out of Egypt..  Scripture records how they did break the covenant, and hence the need of a new covenant.

Some compare the concept of the renewed covenant with the moon being 'renewed' therefore it correlates to the covenant not being new, but renewed. However, they neither study to understand the Scriptures nor know them.

^{It has been suggested that some who propagate the faulty scholarship regarding renew do so because if it is called a renewed covenant, they can then justify telling their adherents that they have to obey the Torah of Moses given at Sinai. Those who don't agree are considered non-believers and lost.}

Just a Little History

According to Monte Judah, in his June 2004 Yavoh newsletter, while in San Diego he was taught by a Navigators disciple.

"...In the spring and summer of 1971, Cecil oversaw a group of sailors from the various military bases there in San Diego for the Navigator organization. He was teaching young men how to walk before the Lord and lead other young men to do the same. One of the young men there was myself. Cecil spent some time teaching me both as part of the group and individually while I was stationed in San Diego...I left his instruction in the mid 1970's." 4

In 1982, while still living in San Diego, California, Monte Judah developed ( along with an unnamed friend) a computer program which integrated kabbalist gematria, which is how and when he "figured out" that Prince Charles was the 'antimessiah.' He taught that concept from his earliest predictions, and has continued with incorporating them whenever it suits.

Which part of the Navigator's teachings and Baptist teachings incorporated kabbalist gematria, since these are apparently Monte Judah's religious backgrounds?

The following is from an article from 2001, called The Prince Who Is to Come in the sub section, "The Number of His Name". Monte Judah wrote:

"Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six. REV 13:18
This is one of the most fascinating and intriguing verses in all prophetic Scripture. This verse has caused more Bible teachers and students to chase their tails than any other verse. How do you calculate the number? Obviously, each letter must have a numerical value, but what value is correct for each letter?

The answer to these questions comes from an understanding of the ancient classic languages of Hebrew and Greek. ...Both Hebrew and Greek contain 22 letters. So, the greatest value of any letter (Tav in Hebrew, Omega in Greek) was 400. The ancients simply used letters in place of numbers to indicate numerical values. ....

In 1982, I purchased my first personal desktop computer. It was a giant calculator. Since I was Hebrew, I also knew how the letters represented certain values. I was also a writer and aware of the origins of our English letters and language out of the ancient languages.

For example, the first Hebrew letter is an aleph, Greek is alpha, and English is just plain “A.” The English alphabet originates from Greek (alpha beta) and the Hebrew (aleph bet). I was curious as to whether the gematria (numerical values for each letter) would yield any interesting results. With the help of a friend more adept in computer programming, we wrote a computer program that would calculate the numerical value (gematria) for English. I limited the system only to the first 22 letters as the ancients had done (Hebrew and Greek only have 22 letters). Once the program was written, I was able to type in all the names for all world figures past and present, calculating the gematria for each with computer accuracy. I had no expectation whatsoever for anyone when I started entering names. I already knew Kissinger wasn't the antichrist.
Then it happened. I entered the name “Prince Charles of Wales.” The value displayed was 666. Have you ever heard of an experience called, “tunnel vision?” It is a real thing. My mind focused so hard that my vision contracted to an area limited to the numbers themselves. I thought I was passing out. No matter how many times I entered the name, the calculation was the same. Then it hit me. He is a Prince just as the Scripture says.

....Prince Charles is a prince of the people who came and destroyed the temple and Jerusalem. The honor of kingship has not been conferred upon him and his name equals 666 in English (the common language of our world) using the ancient gematria method.

But that's not good enough for me, I'm Hebrew. I need to see his name in Hebrew calculated to the gematria. For that I had to go to Israel and find an authoritative source for translating his name into Hebrew. I ended up following how the Israeli press writes his name in the Hebrew newspapers. “Nasich Charles Mem Wales” is the name as pronounced in Hebrew. Refer to the chart shown here and you can compare the English and Hebrew names with the corresponding calculations. The statistical odds are astonishing. The name “Prince Charles of Wales” in the modern accepted form of Hebrew calculates to 666 as well.

You won't have any name of another public figure in the world whose name equals 666 in English or Hebrew. Nor, can you find another name of anyone in the world whose English name equals one value, translate it then into Hebrew and calculate to the same value as before the translation. I think this one fact about Prince Charles makes him worthy of much greater observation.

Consider this also. Charles means “man” or “manly.” Revelation 13:18 says that the number 666 is that of a “man.” I could substitute the name Charles for the word “man” and it would mean the same..." 5

Using the Hebrew Gematria method of calculation, the number 666 (Rev.
13:18) calculates to be "Prince Charles of Wales" in English, Hebrew, and
Greek....

This is a seven year agreement (Dan. 9:27) because Yitzhak Rabin and Yasser Arafat agreed just before the signing that within seven years Jerusalem would be divided into three parts. The agreement runs to the Feast of Trumpets, Rosh HaShanna, September 30, 2000.

The Lord told Monte Judah to watch for just such an agreement to be made on Rosh HaShanna over 10 years before it came to pass. He witnessed the signing on television while the Lord confirmed the agreement with the announcement that 3,000 witnesses were present.

Prophetic confirmation of agreement..." 6

** And still Monte Judah was proven a false prophet, and with his own admission at...Perhaps using the occult, ie, kabbalah's gematria as the source of 'truth' and 'prophecy' for his repeated failed predictions is part of the problem.

Tim Cohen: The Antichrist and A Cup of Tea

It should be noted that Tim Cohen, who wrote The Antichrist and A Cup of Tea, met with Monte Judah in 1987, and subsequently included the same ideas/calculations concerning using gematria in English and Hebrew to identify "Prince Charles of Wales" and his name/title also as equaling 666. In my research I noted that Cohen has made claims in some of his statements that he was the originator of that theory. But, he then credits Monte with much information. He also stated this:

" ....After reading the entire New Testament, the five books of Moses (Torah), and many of the prophecies in the Old Testament, I found myself increasingly drawn to study the scriptures, to the point where I was unable to concentrate on my studies. One day in early 1987, while walking toward Arnold Hall, my thoughts settled on Revelation 13:18. That was the second day in less than a year that God turned my life upside down. On that day, I prayed for wisdom according to what is written in James 1:5-6 and Revelation 13:18. Within one month of that momentous prayer, a local pastor by the name of Monte Judah invited me to an unusual sabbath meal. While there, Monte showed me his preliminary information on what would become the main subject of this book--Prince Charles of Wales. That information included the prince's English name calculation and a rather poor black and white photocopy of an unofficial version of his heraldic achievement. Through Monte, The LORD challenged me to re-examine what I had been taught to that point concerning eschatology, much of which I subsequently concluded to be false.

I returned to my dorm room ..where I proceeded to tell various classmates that I was going to write a book. At the time, I knew only that the book was to concern biblical prophecy. ...While awaiting a decision from the Secretary of the Air Force, I pursued research on a wide variety of scriptural subjects. This research led almost immediately to a color copy of the official version of the heraldic achievement of the Prince of Wales, which I found in a book on heraldry in the Cadet Library.

In November 1987, my resignation was accepted. ...I was required to enlist for a period of three years. While training for that enlistment in Texas, I met another man by the name of Steve Klein...I made the off-the-cuff remark, "In a little over seven years, you won't have to worry about that." Steve oddly responded, "I hear you," and then invited my roommate and I to have dinner with his family that evening. When Steve arrived to pick us up, he brought with him a large copy of the official lineage of Queen Elizabeth II. Up to then, I had said nothing to Steve. The lineage later proved to be of great value in preparing this particular work. ...This book, The AntiChrist and a Cup of Tea, is merely the first published fruit of ten years of research and writing. As such, it was originally a part of a much larger work still in progress. ..."  7

In his current website, it is also stated, "Called by God in 1987 to be "him who has understanding" (Rev 13:18) — while a United States Air Force Academy cadet ..." 8

**In case it is overlooked, Tim Cohen made the statement that the tribulation was starting and would be done in 7 yrs---ie by 1994. Another idea proven false.

Here's the kicker... Monte Judah's gematria calculations 'proving' Prince Charles is the antichrist are incorrect, aside from the fact that it is the occult--and not a source for someone who belongs to Jesus Christ.

Monte Judah's Hebrew to English alphabet is incorrect for the kabbalist gematria he claimed to use "proving" Prince Charles of Wales" is the antichrist. And that makes Tim Cohen's information incorrect as well, since he used Monte Judah's gematria calculations as his source for identifying Prince Charles as the antichrist for the foundation for his book, and subsequent related ventures.

We have a few problems:

a. The actual name of Prince Charles is not Prince Charles of Wales. That's one of his numerous titles. His name is Charles Phillip Arthur George Windsor.  His Royal Highness, being first in line to the throne, also holds the following titles: Earl of Chester; Duke of Cornwall, Duke of Rothesay, Earl of Carrick and Baron Renfrew, Lord of the Isles, and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland.

One could wonder how such a blatant error could be overlooked....but apparently accuracy in facts or Scriptural doctrine makes no difference. Itching ears seem to accept just about anything, except sound doctrine. Further, with Monte Judah's claim to be Hebrew is the implication that he knew Hebrew as a language. Apparently he didn't, although he appears to accept the use of kabbalah and gematria.

 b. The gematria numerical equivalent that has been assigned to the Hebrew letters is not correct. Gematria has specified numbers. It cannot be changed. Hebrew has 22 letters, while English has 26. In gematria the values for the Hebrew letters are:1-9 for the first 9 letters , 10-90 for the next 9 letters, and 100-400 for the last four letters. What Monte Judah, Tim Cohen and other proponents of this are doing, is applying gematria to the first 22 characters of the 26 letter English alphabet, with the last 4 letters being designated as zero. There is nothing in gematria to support that.

c. The English letters assigned to the Hebrew letters in many cases are not correct

d Mr. Judah is combining Hebrew and English letters to come up with his numerical 'proof.'

e. Charles and Wales are not Hebrew words

If you look at the Hebrew Bible there are loan words from other languages. Unfortunately, English isn't one of them. The English language did not exist until long after the first century. Further, the New Testament was written in Greek, meaning even the verse in Revelation concerning the "number" was written in Greek.. What Mr. Judah has done has taken Hebrew and English and tried to combine them to arrive at a solution for his problem. And failed. Which is consistent with his ability to be a prophet.

Another Hebrew Roots proponent did an analysis of this issue titled, Monty Judah's Bogus Gematria 10 and as was shown by his presentation, other people have recognized the inaccuracies in the hebrew/english/gematria and the equally inaccurate conclusions. This is not an endorsement of that website or it's beliefs. But it is obvious that Monte Judah's attempt to 'prophesy' who the antichrist is using gematria, is as false as his other prophecies.
